  • "We tried Sperata for the first time, thanks to "Open Table". It's close to home, and the atmosphere is lovely. Since we had made a reservation, we were given a "window" table (very nice!). We were greeted immediately by friendly staff, our server was very knowledgeable regarding the menu and even offered to help me with my wine selection. Overall, it was a really nice dining experience & we are looking forward to returning!"

  • "OMG! I am in love with this restaurant...I knew of the restaurant and my husband and I had wanted to try it. However, when my sister was visiting, we decided to look for a special restaurant, for fine dining, her last evening. I reviewed Sperata's and found all were very good. Reservations made and off we went. The Chef's menu offered a three (3) wine sampling with his selection choices, and because I am "picky" I was allowed to choose from the regular menu. The food was superb! The service was exceptional. We chose to allow our server to select our wine, with each course, and she did excellent! Fine dining, smaller but very nice, yet comfortable. A delightful evening. I can hardly wait to go again! Don't wait.....y'all go!"

He was very accomodating to our 9 month old son. Everything was great, but the potatos were beyond belief. I don't even know how they were prepared, but it was heaven.   • "Based on reviews we took my brother and sister-in-law to the restaurant for my sister-in-law's birthday. We arrived at 7 pm, left at 9 pm, and were the only table in the restaurant during the entire time (on a Thursday night). The food was very good. The service left a lot to be desired, and getting information out of the server was like pulling teeth. Unless you asked specific questions about the menu you got nothing. Most of the restaurants along the "downtown" Buford strip were pretty empty, but not one other table in 2 hours? Even though we live very close by, we probably won't go back. It certainly wasn't worth over $300 for a dinner for 4!"

  • "Took my wife and son Mother's Day dinner at 4:45. Staff was very nice, but they were out of two of the things we wanted to order. My wife's meal was supposed to come with sautéed spinach, but instead came with cauliflower and carrots, which no one bother to inform us of til after we brought it up. Food was okay. "

  • "Read many reviews and decided to try Sperata. Most of the criticisms were related to slow service. We were there on Friday and the place was not crowded. So service was not an issue. As a matter of fact our server was awesome. From the entrees to dessert everything was great. Onion tart was unique. Seared tuna was great (a special on that day). Our main courses were also great. My wife had the prime rib eye which was perfectly cooked and very tender. Same for the lamb. Flowerless chocolate was one the best ones we tried. "

The table we chose had a nice view of the street, but still romantic and set away from other diners. We ordered the carpaccio, which was phenomenal. Our meals arrived in a timely manner and were delicious. We finished the meal with creme brûlée which may be the best creme brûlée I have ever had! The food was excellent, the alcoholic drinks were tasty and the service. Very nice romantic meal to celebrate our anniversary."

  • "Beautiful, quiet atmosphere in a 100 year old storefront restaurant. Our server was exceptional and very knowledgeable! We had an excellent bottle of Pinot Noir, recommended by our server. The Seared Ahi Tuna Appetizer was amazing. The Picasso salad was great and included romaine, chipotle ranch, hot bacon and apple, candied pecans and blue cheese. We ordered Steak Diane, which was a melt in your mouth beef filet, served with roasted potatoes and vegetables. The Banana Rum Tilapia was also excellent. The home made bread was really good. The perfect ending was a Flourless Chocolate Torte, served warm with grand marnier chocolate sauce with strawberries and blackberries and whipping cream. Great dining experience! "

  • "This was a great place to go !! This was the first time we went to this restaurant and it was great. My wife and I met friends for my Birthday !! We were treated with excellent service and 5 star rated food. I had blue cheese encrusted filet and my friend had asked if they could prepare the filet a different way. The waiter and kitchen staff was happy to prepare the filet a different way and it was great. I can not say enough about our experience. If you get a chance to go to this restaurant go and experience this great find."

  • "My wife and I wanted to find a local fine-dining restaurant to celebrate. We decided to visit Sperata this past weekend and were very impressed! The service was spot on. Our waiter was attentive, informative, obviously proud of the restaurant, and made suggestions without being "pushy". The food was truly excellent, just as we had hoped. I especially recommend the lobster & crab bisque. And, their homemade bread was outstanding! Their prices are, admittedly, a little on the higher side, but an appropriate value for what we consider to be fine-dining. We would absolutely recommend this establishment."

  • "Was a little disappointed the Valentines menu was still offered on Saturday, unable to order off the regular menu. Had the filet of beef (just ok) and the mahi (very good) - the shrimp appetizer was perfect and the martini was strong. Our server was younger and perhaps newer - he was fine but not exceptional which I am used to there, especially for the price. They also added extra tables which is good to get more guests in on a busy night but also adds to the noise and closer quarters between diners. It's a trade-off. All in all it was good but not great..."

  • "We tried to get reservations for St. Valentines Day but were too late however, as a result we made reservations for Saturday. The seating was a 6 and when we arrived (on-time) we were seated immediately. The wait staff was very knowledgable about the menu and had great recommendations. During the dinner, they were attentive but not intrusive and handled our requests promptly. The food was excellent in presentation and flavor. We had the Pork Wellington and the Atlantic Cod. The Wellington pastry was a touch soggy on the bottom but the duxelle was amazing along with the tenderness of the perfectly cooked pork. The cod was spectacular. I would highly recommend their specials as well. Enjoyed it thoroughly!"

  • "Went there for a Valentine Special dinner and was initially pleased with a warm comfortable decor. The service was good. The food was also good, but not beyond good. The price was equal to that of a five star restaurant and Sperata is more of a three. The noise level is too loud for a romantic evening and especially too loud for a party larger than two. I would go back....if someone else is paying."

  • "We went for a special evening with friends, and were surprised to find a prix fixe menu. We went the day after Valentines Day, and they apparently were running the "special menu" all weekend. This was a let down, as there were certain menu items we were looking forward to trying. My friend (who is much more wine knowledgable than I) tried to choose a wine, but the first SIX that he asked about from their menu we re "all out, sorry sir." When we asked about the varietal of the bottles that the waiter was suggesting, the waiter did not understand. And I tried to order the filet of beef, but that watier said "I chickened out," and talked me into the leg of lamb, which was so tough to cut and eat, I only had a few bites. Good time despite."
