Diner Reviews
  • "Reservations were made for a patio table for six. Not a problem; everything was as ordered and the staff was excellent. We all enjoyed the evening, the meal and the setting. Plan to return the next time we are in town."

  • "Best dining in P.S. Have recommended to many. Food, ambiance and service fantastic."

  • "Avoid the lobster potstickers. Expected to be steamed or lightly pan fried like typical potstickers -- instead were deep fried. Tasted like something from the frozen food aisle. Salads would have been okay if were drowned in dressing. We are in our late 40s and were at least 20 years younger than everyone else there. "

  • "I treated a friend from out of town to a birthday lunch and it was fabulous from the food to the service to the ambience. The piano player was an added touch to celebrate this special occasion. Spencer's is definitely my place to go for a beautiful experience, great dining and friendly service."

  • "Spencer's is my favorite restaurant in the desert and that's saying a lot because there are hundreds of great ones here. Don't miss it!"

  • "The food was no bad. However, the service was very mediocre. The staff had sort of an attitude. Our waiter would forget to bring things, and when asked again, he would just give us this look like he's so bored and tired. If you hate bring a waiter, maybe change your job. And if you remember to bring things the first time you are asked, we won't have to "inconvenience" you by asking again. The hostesses had an attitude as well. And the overall crowd was kind of snobby and looking fown on people. "

  • "Had read good reviews so wanted to try it before the PS Follies show. We ordered an appetizer platter, the coconut shrimp were dried and over fried, the lobster potstickers were overcooked, the calamari was way overcooked, dried and tough. I ordered the Chilean seabass and it was just okay, nothing special at all. Everything we ordered were not what you expect for the prices. Our bill was $188, which did include two martinis....the cocktails were the best of anything we ordered! Overall, for the price I would never go back. La Valleuris is far superior in all ways and where we will go when dining in Palm Springs."

  • "Made an online reservation and made a special request for a quiet romantic table for two. Was originally seated beside a back wall beside a large family table. Requested to move and was given the type of table I had originally requested. Other than this one diss appointment; the evening, food and service was great. Will go back; definately. "

  • "Our party of four enjoyed a delightful evening of very good food and excellent service. The cocktail serving size was very generous."

  • "Food and service were great. Only issue is that there were 2 large parties close to us and they were very loud. It was hard to have a conversation"

  • "I love Spencer's and have been there for breakfast, brunch and lunch several times. Finally - I was able to obtain a reservation for dinner and again I was not disappointed. I started with a VERY generous sized martini. The Beefsteak Tomato Tartare was fantastic - with various types of beefsteak tomatoes diced and stacked to perfection. My entrée was the rack of lamb - and I would say it was the best rack of lamb I've ever eaten. As always, the service was professional, understated and attentive."

  • "Have been dining at most of the fine restaurants in the Palm Springs valley for over 15 years and Spencer's is at the top of the list in terms of ambiance, food quality and service. Use this restaurant frequently to entertain guests and without exception, it is a hit. Pleased that Eric still has his specials noted on the menu including those fried oysters. Erv & Barbara Kaufman"

  • "When we arrived, greeted with friendly smile. Immediately seated, immediately offered with menu and beverages. We love our professional, warm and friendly Filipina server. The food arrived reasonably hot, well presented and delicious. The environment was friendly, casually elegant and non intimidating. Overall, it was wonderful. Ambience is refreshing and sound level was low."

  • "Very romantic setting. Had that unique, one of a kind feel to it. Very beautiful decor and classy. A must for any occasion. Great prices."

  • "Who is this guy? I got him two times in a row. He is very nonchalant and appears to really hate his job. I was so upset to get him again. Yikes... its a shame because everything else was great."

  • "Great place as usual. My only, only, only complaint is that they don't serve oatmeal on Sunday Brunch days. I went there specifically for oatmeal - they weren't serving it - so had eggs benedicdt instead. Still hungry for oatmeal......"

  • "We went with a friend who recommended this restaurant. While the ambieance was nice (we sat outdoors under twinkling lights), the food was only average. The waiter appeared to have more important things to handle than our table. We spent a fair amount of money for average food and service. Being from the Bay Area has certainly spoiled us on food quality and accompanying prices. Since this was our first visit, I would like to give them another try at some point, as the restaurant was great for it's surroundings."

  • "We live in Palm Desert and wanted something different for breakfast. My wife and her girlfriends had a Birthday lunch at Spencer's a few weeks earlier and she the lunch food was good and the ambience of the patio dining was very refreshing for desert dininng. She was right. The restaurant is a couple of blocks up from Palm Springs downtown area and adjoins the Palm Springs Tennis Club. It is nestled against the mountains surrounding Palm Springs. Tall trees, a climate controlled outdoor dining patio and a very interesting menu made this an enticing Breakfast getaway. Service overall was adequate with our food delivery s-l-o-w. I had huevos rancheros and my wife had the chorizo and eggs. EXCELLENT! Come hungry, the portions are huge."

  • "Food very good, portions too large. Calamari starter portion was huge/ The waiter could have suggested sharing among 3 people Would prefer to have smaller portions, slightly less expensive to allow you to savour 3 courses. Bass, Salmon and Mushroom risotto all excellent!"

  • "Great setting with trees interwoven amongst the tables, and close to mountains. Food is well-prepared but grill-happy, with few choices of items you would have to spend hours preparing at home- why not some chateaubriand or coq au vin? Superb wine list"

  • "Met a friend of mine vacationing here in Palm Springs, that I hadn't seen in nearly 25 years. Choose Spencer's, of course. Beautiful ambiance, setting, service and original food creations made for an impressive lunch and a memorable one for my friend indeed. Thank you Spencer's for keeping up the tradition and continuing excellence of a dining experience here in Palm Springs."

  • "We just happened to be driving in the area and saw Spensers and liked the look of it. Nestled at the foot of the mountains with a tennis club attached, it has a unique feel that we enjoyed very much. The indoor/outdoor blended dining had a great feel and was very relaxing. They have a huge wine list and very reasonable prices for the quality. We've since gone back and enjoyed it the second time just as much."

  • "I made the reservation one full week ahead of our dining date and specifically asked for seating inside the outdoor patio. They attempted to seat us outside the enclosed patio area in a line of tables set up outside by the sidewalk, I refused and asked for the indoor patio, they did seat us there. I wonder just how far ahead I need to reserve the outdoor enclosed patio to be seated there. The waiters were excellent but this particular hostess was rude and full of herself. We had out of town guests and I wanted to show the them ambiance of Spensers patio, will not make that mistake again."

  • "We really enjoyed celebrating our mom's 82nd Birthday at Spencer's! We sat inside and had the opportunity to listen to the pianist. Although you could hear the beautiful music, it was not overpowering. Great noise level still for conversation. Simon was our waiter. He was attentive, kind, and very professional. We really liked him. The food was excellent. I ordered the Prix Fixe was $38.00-- a wedge salad, short ribs, and banana cream pie for dessert. My husband enjoyed the Pork Chop and Clam Chowder. My mother ordered a filet mignon and the caprese style salad. ALL amazing. If you get a chance-- you should go. The outside patio is beautiful too because it is lit with beautiful lights in the trees. Go go go!"

  • "As one of his favorite spots when we visit the desert, I decided to book my husband's birthday dinner at Spencer's in Palm Springs, even though we were staying at the La Quinta Resort. This ended up being an excellent decision. Service was exceptional, with attentive and engaging staff. Each staff person made a point of acknowledging his birthday without it seeming overdone. They even included a typed greeting in his menu, which they made into a scroll upon our leaving. The weather was perfect for dining al fresco which is the best way to enjoy Spencer's lovely patio. The food was very good, with the caviar appetizer exceeding our expectations. We will absolutely return when we are next in the Palm Springs area."

  • "Food was slightly better then average and service was only average at best. I expected more from a service perspective. While the staff did their job efficiently they did very little to add to the dining experience, which is what I would expect from an establishment of this caliber. I think next time we are in Palm Spring will consider other dining options"

  • "One of the best dining establishments in Palm Springs! The attentiveness of the well-trained staff and the attention to detail shown in the delicious food are what make this restaurant one of my favorites. Not to mention the enchanting patio with its large trees and glowing twinkle lights. A wonderful experience in an area not exactly known for the best restaurants. Enjoy!"

  • "Dog fight was very annoying. Spencer's should have asked the people to remove the dogs. Took 45 minutes to get our food and it was cold. Service was very bad. We had to ask for drink refills."

  • "My three dining partners each enjoyed their entree. I ordered shrimp and chicken in a marinara sauce with pasta. The shrimp was rubbery and the chicken dry. But oh the calamari. Never have tasted anything like it before. Ooh La La!"

  • "They recognized a Birthday celebration in a very special way. The steaks were average. The bus boys were excellent! The waiter was below average. We had to have the bus boy take our credit card to the Manager for payment. Never a thank you. Interesting experience."

  • "Spencer's is always consistently outstanding. The service and food are always excellent. Sunday brunch was no exception with a great menu to choose from. It's always packed which proves it's one of the favorites of locals and tourists. I will continue to go back."

  • "Best breakfast in town, best value for dollar, plus a fabulous ambiance. Can't be beat. I had banana stuffed french toast - which means it had a few slices of bananas inside and hubby had corned beef hash with eggs which was truly awesome. First round of coffee was not as hot as it should be, but upon request, second round was steamy and wonderful. Too bad they don't start serving earlier than 8:00 a.m."

  • "We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. The food deserves 4 1/2 stars. Some classic dishes are terrific, like the Dover sole. Great service, in a very inviting setting next to the Palm Springs Raquet Club. We think Spencer's is one of the top five restaurants in the Coachella Valley. Highly recommended!"
