  • "Private ride added such class to special 40th bday celebration ... Thanks Jeff for making it happen. Everything was fantastic and classy."

  • "Had a great time with great food. Love that you can bring wine in from the shop next door!"

  • "We made a reservation and were seated right away and on time. The restaurant shares the same space with the bar so it was noisy inside and difficult to have a intimate conversation. I would rate the food I ordered as good, however my wife felt her order was average to slightly below average. The service was attentive, but at times we felt a bit rushed. This is a good bar place to meet, but not sure about anything more formal."

  • "I had an Italian cousin visiting from New York and she wanted Italian... Go figure. .. here in one of the whitest States in the US.... known for their Polish and German food but not so much the Italian. Anyway, I remembered Spasso and decided to take a shot. .. And it payed off. Wonderful Italian cuisine and great service. She was very impressed, as was I. When you have an Italian mother that had cooked you the most wonderful meals growing up, you set your standards pretty high and I can say, even Ma would be impressed."

  • "Picked this restaurant for a couples night out, and it was great! Wine list was large, and reasonable and the food was outstanding as well! Overall a very fun evening!"

  • "A small group of us needed to discuss the upcoming passing of a close friend. We were able to talk, enjoy a bottle of wine and dinner."

  • "Food was pretty standard, but I liked that they have Gluten Free options."

  • "Great dinner again. We always know what we're going to order ahead of time because we want we ordered last time."

  • "I'd been to Spasso for happy hour some time ago and had a great time; this visit was anything but. There was no space in the bar (not a big deal) so we sat in the dining room instead. We eventually had to get up and go ask someone if our server was coming because it had been over 5 minutes and no one came by. Service was slow, clumsy, and really irritating -- our server would repeat our orders back to us in a cheesy Italian accent. Very annoying and unprofessional. The baked brie was nicely done. The risotto balls were very poor -- tasted like dry, day-old, overcooked risotto, and the gorgonzola sauce beneath was broken. I don't know how you break a sauce like that, but Spasso did. Very disappointing experience; will not be back."

  • "No corkage onwine recommendations from next door was the highlight. Food was adequate for the price at best."

  • "We have lived in the area for a while but just never got into Spasso before. Food was good...interesting that no bread is provided, given it is an Italian restaurant, but that was ok. Waitress was friendly and provided suggestions - until she seemed to get tired of us. She never asked how our dinner was, and we needed to ask for the dessert menus. And then she didn't come back to our table. I finally tapped her after 15 minutes passed, as she finished at the table next to us, and asked, with a smile, if she had forgotten us. Her reply was "Not at all. You seemed busy talking." After that, she was abrubt and borderline rude. End of a long Saturday night?? She didn't ruin the experience - we will be back."

  • "Food and wine very nice, decently priced. But extremely noisy, made it hard for family of 4 to hear each other speak."

  • "My Fiance and I went to Spasso to celebrate our engagement. We have never been before are were excited to try something new, especially after reading such wonderful reviews! We made a reservation and got a nice romantic corner booth. Our waitress offered great suggestions but was extremely slow. After we were finished with desert we didn't see her for about 15 minutes. I ended up getting up to ask the hostess to get our server (very disappointing). Despite the slow service I would highly recommend Spasso. Prime Rib pizza was delicious!"

  • "I have given Spasso's multiple times to redeem themselves because of their tastey food, and each time I have been extremely disappointed with the service. If you want good food and don't care about the service, this is the place to go. But if you're looking for a great dining experience I would recommend going elsewhere."

  • "We go to Spasso on average once a month. Food quality seems to be deteriorating lately. Hoping its a training issue with the chef."

  • "Stopped in Spasso for early dinner on Sunday night. Arrived early enough to take advantage of the HH appetizers and wine specials. Everyone enjoyed it, and Natasha our server was just fantastic. Four separate checks, got everyone's order correct, attentive but let us sit and socialize. Our food was wonderful. A particular favorite for several diners was the veg lasagna. I loved my truffled chokes app which was grilled artichoke on a bed of arugula. To die for! The schezuan green beans were also a winner...order the sauce on the side to adjust the flavor intensity. Look forward to introducing more friends to this neighborhood gem."

  • "Solid, attentive service, stuffed pepper app very good, price too high on both scallop n filet specials $26, $28), considering small portions."

  • "I ordered a top sirloin rare, the first steak came out medium well, The second one was at best medium rare. The steak was tough, so I say if you want a well done tough steak this is the place for you. I think that after several not good experiences I should have learned a lesson, my bad. It was interested that they charged my for both steaks but then removed one charge."

  • "This was our first time there. Being a vegetarian, I appreciated the vegetarian selections on the menu - I ordered the vegi lasagna - which was delcious - and I loved the presentation. However, my husband had his heart set on the prime rib. But you were out (it was 7:30). Being Valentine's day, I would have expected a restaurant to prepare and have ample "speciality" items on the menu. So he ordered a hamburger instead, which was anti-climatic for a Valentine's Day. Also, we really liked the option of buying our wine at the wine store and brining it in withoutt a corking fee (very nice touch). Overall, I enjoyed the dinner - my husband did not."

  • "We went here for the first time on Valentine's Day. The restaurant came highly recommended, and while we thought the food was good, the whole experience was overshadowed by terrible service. The hostess was unfriendly -- literally grunted and pointed to the table were we were to sit. She was talking on the phone when we walked in, looking down, and never looked up or smiled at us. The restaurant wasn't busy when we were there, yet it took a long time for our order to be taken and to get served. Our waitress wasn't especially friendly, and neither was the person who brought out our dessert or the person who filled our water glasses. Truly some of the worst service I've ever experienced!"

  • "No corkage fee when you bring in a wine bought from The Wine Shop adjoining Spasso. Plus Spasso does not have much of an up charge on its wines."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "I loved the lenghty well priced wine list. However, the salmon was expensive for the size and it did not come with any side dishes."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Great food, great wine, great prices, great atmosphere! Highly recommend and can't wait to go back. It's definitely more of a special occasion place than your everyday place. Loved it."

  • "My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed out experience at Spasso on Valentine's Day. Our waiter was courteous and checked in with us occasionally - not too much and not too little. Our entrees were delicious and the dessert was fantastic. It was very busy when we were there so sometimes the noise level was a little high, but not sustained. We would highly recommend this restaurant, and we plan to go back to Spasso. Loved it!!"

  • "It took 15 minutes to get a glass of water, 25 minutes for drinks and then our food got cold while we waited for water and wine refills to go with our meals. We were put in a back room which didn't have the fun ambiance of the main restaurant. Other people in the room got their main dish before we received our appetizer. Staffing was an issue as there was only one waitress assigned to the whole room, despite the fact it the rest of the restaurant appeared to be adequately staffed (3 people at the hostess stand). Pasta was good, steak was mediocre and associated potatoes were cold. I'd recommend going back for pasta or pizza and not on a special occasion."

  • "Enjoyed birthday celebration with a free gelato for dessert!"

  • "The place was so ungodly noisy that I could not hear my date 2 feet away. The 6 people at the table closest to us were yelling at each other and they had to be 3 feet across the table. The filet mignon was dry and tasteless. It was like sawing into old leather. My date ordered pasta and it was over cooked. I will never go back."

  • "The Wine Store next to the Spasso has a very good selection and knowledgable staff to help. You can buy bottle and bring it to Spasso and there is No corking charge! Prices from 6.95 on up. Save room for desert !"

  • "The food is wonderful and comes out fast, although the multiple times I have been to the restaurant I have received awful service."

  • "Love this place and will make this a destination for dinner. Great food, great atmosphere. Service was ok. Very friendly waiter but forgot our salads, had to ask for them after dinner was served and took awhile to return to refill empty wine glasses. Would have had a larger tab had he been more attentive. But again, he was very nice and the food/company was great."

  • "The waitress was great and the bread is awesome. My son ordered the vegie lasana and it was not as good as it normally is so disappointed. It was just mushy and too much pesto sauce it was kind of oily at the bottom. My pear salad was very good."

  • "How awesome to make a reservation via Open Table and be seated right away in a busy restaurant when you first walk in...especially on a Friday night! The food was delicious. They have a very large wine selection, thanks to their liquor store next door and an awesome beer selection! The baked brie is not to be missed. This is by far the best appetizer I have had in the Twin Cities. The skirt steak was good but, somewhat tough as expected. It had great flavor though. Portions are right sized. I would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to our next visit. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine/beer selections."

  • "We first went to Spasso shortly after they opened. I remember the service lacking and the food was nothing to write home about. We finally decided to give it another chance. The service was great, they were accommodating to our kids and got their food out with our salads. Unfortunately the pizzas were backed up causing the rest of our food to be delayed. They apologized and if we didn't have two restless kids it might not have been such a big deal. The food was great. My husband had the chicken fontina pizza, he loved it. I had the filet mignon, it was very tender. The kids liked their Mac and cheese and chicken fingers, which were higher quality then other restaurants. We will return."

  • "Food, service and decor are all quite good. Noise level was a bit high. There are architectural solutions to the noise level that could be done."
    Dined on 1/29/2014
  • "Subtlety is not the coin of the realm. Others had the ravioli special, which came swimming in a sea of butter. My strip steak (more medium-rare than the medium I ordered) also was slathered in a good amount of butter. The solids were good, the bread was passable. Pre-meal Old Fashioneds were made differently than I was expecting (perhaps they're right and everywhere else I've been is wrong). Wine selection is other worldly, but the manner of serving was marginal. Also, the design and decor of the interior means that sound is amplified. Don't expect a quiet evening."
    Dined on 1/29/2014
  • "The noise level was very loud. I would go back for the food but it is nearly impossible to carry on a conversation. The tables are placed very close together and we were seated by the bar and kitchen. I wouldn't go for a special occasion. I was impressed we could choose a bottle of wine from The Wine Shop next door and bring it into Spasso. That was fun!"

  • "First, they didn't have our reservation even though I received an Open table confirmation. They said "sometimes that happens, we'd prefer you called us." They shouldn't except online reservations then. It was extremely loud; nearly had to shout to be heard by my husband. Food was great, service good. I'd return; but not with someone I wanted to have a meaningful conversation with."
