Spasso Italian Grill - PhiladelphiaGood food, reasonable priceWent to Spasso with an old friend. I chose it based on reviews that said the gfood was great and the prices reasonable. That was accurate. Plus it is located near the Independence Hall area, where we were staying. The staff was helpful but not over the top, which I appreciated. The main dining area is small, in a good way, but I could see there were rooms in the back and side for larger parties. The neighborhood is going a bit downhill, but Spasso still maintains its charm. We had the bruschetta, which was nice and crispy. The shrimp fettuccine was perfectly al dente, but the sauce was a little cloying. As a first timer, he wanted to try everything but he focused on the grilled calamari and escargot for appetizers. Both were the best he'd ever had and for a main dish he selected veal. This veal beat a place he's been going to for 20 years! He posted his great experience on facebook and has his family planning a big event. His birthday dinner was a great success!
