A word from Spark Woodfire Grill - Studio City
The original Spark Woodfire Grill is located in a chic 2-story building just east of Laurel Canyon. The restaurant features a full bar and patio seating. The specialties of the chef include several types of mesquite grilled fish and prime steaks, as well as Spark's famous baby back ribs, Lasagna de Mauro, and thin crust roman style pizza. A private wine room is available for seating to the public as well as for special private events. An extensive wine list is also featured.Continued

  • "I have been coming here for years and took my parents here recently when they were in town. The waiter (I really wish I could remember his name) was great - everyone loved his recommendations. The food was good, the service just attentive enough and we made it before the dinner rush. I would definitely come back and recommend it to others."

  • "This small restaurant has a noise level fit for a racetrack, I was unable to hear the people next to me or across from me. The décor was great the food was average. I would suggest the fish over the chicken, As the chicken was dry, the fish moist a full of flavor, The side dishes were made with to much oil and the visual placement was preschool. Would I go back no."

  • "Definitely one of the best restaurants in Studio City if not the best. The fish is fresh, lamb and beef delicious! Tri tip is tender and delicious. Everything is grilled over an open frame. Side like the broccolini and Brussels sprouts are heaven. So happy I found this restaurant. A real jewel!"

  • "Imagine a smallish, thin piece of fish simply grilled and overcooked with a handful of pieced of chopped mango over a large plate of rice? Now imagine that it cost you $28. For the same price I get elegant, creative, delicious, superb fish down the road at The Hungry Car. Spark does some hints reasonably, but not fish - not for these prices."

  • "We've been to Spark many times and always enjoyed it. This time, I requested an area that by some chance might be a little quieter - unbeknownst to us - they have an upstairs dining area - for private parties and regular dining. It's upstairs and not very well insulated or well accessed. We did not care for the dining experience upstairs, and it will be a while before we return."

  • "I like this restaurant. Waiting area is too crowded. Always feel like I am dodging diners and waiting diners to get through the rather tightly packed dining room. I enjoyed my lamb - but the goat cheese melt gave my lamb an "off" note every time I got a globby bite. Next time - I will request that it is left off. My dining companion couldn't stop raving about her trout - and I have to agree. Perhaps the world's best preparation. Their wedge salad is divine. I kind of love coming here. It is up with my other valley fave's - Stanley's and Bizou."

  • "Counting on everyone either staying home to watch the Oscars or going to a party, a small group of friends and I decided to go out to dinner. We were right. The restaurant was fairly quiet which gave us the opportunity to catch up, while eating some really good food. I'm a very picky eater, so I'm always surprised when I can walk into a restaurant and want to eat everything on the menu. I ordered the braised short rib with polenta. It was very tender and the polenta was really smooth and creamy. I must admit that I really liked my friend's smoked salmon pizza more than my entree although I was very happy with mine. The consensus of everyone at our table is to order the brussel sprouts. They are amazing."

  • "We had a very good dinner at Spark's. Our server, Kelli, was very friendly, energetic and helpful. The pepper crusted sirloin was very tasty as were the potatoes and green beans. Only complaint was the tables were close together and the noise volume was very loud in the downstairs restaurant/bar combination area. I had read there was an upstairs, but we went on a Sunday evening so maybe they only have the downstairs section open then."

Friday and Saturday nights the upstairs has white tablecloths and a dressier ambience, and weekdays and Sundays it is more casual downstairs, but still inviting with a bar and wood tables. Comfortable and with terrific food. Trout and mashed potatoes or sirloin steak are winners among other delicious dishes."

  • "When we arrived we were offered a table upstairs. Although the service may be a little bit slower because the kitchen doesn't seem to be right there, it was worth it. We had a table overlooking the street, which was nice, and the environment seems more quiet because there is carpet. We were very comfortable there. The food was really good: braised ribs, roasted chicken, lobster mac n cheese and arugula and fig pizza. I recommend everything, specially the lobster mac n cheese. We will definitely go back."

  • "I found Spark on Yelp as I was looking for a place in Studio City with good food that would work for several of us that have food restrictions. We had a great time and the food was excellent. We had everything from short ribs to baby back ribs, to steak and everyone was really happy with their meal. Vanilla ice cream was the best I've ever had. Only slight drawback was it got so loud it was a bit hard for us to hear each other. Not a problem for a lively night with friends, but if you're looking for a quieter place, this might not be it."

  • "I used to go to the first Sparks, on Pico, for lunch, dinner, and attended several Academy Awards parties there. Years ago I was a regular at Alto Palato, and hosted several functions there, so knew Sparks' pedigree of food, ambiance, and service. Studio City is obviously different management, but does not disappoint. A wonderful neighborhood casual, comfy, trattoria-style atmosphere. Terrifice bar and waiter staff...attentive friendly, and efficient. Delicious food, including great wood-fired pizzas, some interesting dishes, and of course the signature tribute to the late creator of Rex il Ristorante and Alto Palato, Mauro's Lasagna...indulgently excellent! I love this place! (One needed in Calabasas so I can enjoy Sparks regularly)"

  • "AS always we had a great dinner with pleasant, accurate and very attentive service. Food is consistently good. The only hitch was the large party next to us of perhaps14 adults and kids. The kids, for the entire time we sat there were running back and forth from their table to the bar and back. The parents never said a word until our waiter mentioned something to them. They kept running around anyway and made for a less than perfect dining experience. Our waiter was very nice and gave us dessert but the annoyance of the running and noise detracted from an otherwise nice time."

  • "We have eaten here in the past, but not in the last couple of years. The prices are sky high now. The food quality not as we remembered it and now is cooked with a heavy garlic hand. I had egg plant parmigian, which was heavy, and oily and too rich to eat more than a third of it. Dining partner had short ribs, which he described as tasty, but too much wine in the sauce. We dined early knowing how loud Spark can be, and that did moderate the sound significantly, except for the two people at the bar who by their second drink could be heard across the restaurant. We will not be returning any time soon"
