Diner Reviews
  • "We have spent most of our special occasions at Spark for the past 3-4 years. This was our anniversary visit and once again the food and device were over the top. Highly recommend the steaks and the martinis. Can't beat sitting on the outdoor balcony and looking at the beach and pier. Had such a great dinner we booked Easter Sunday Brunch before we left."

  • "We celebrated a birthday at Spark and it was lovely! There were seven of us (one child) and the service and attention were very good."

  • "Pros Good food and service. Accomodating to requests. Cons - table was too close to the fire pit, portions were good but price was too high for the amount of food. Good experience."

  • "Great dining experience on the outdoor patio with a great view Main Street at the beginning of the peer. Cathy was a great server...friendly and attentive."

  • "I'd walked by this place dozens of times; always wanting to try it but never quite making it in. Went during restaurant week, and glad I finally did. Food was fantastic, and everything cam out quickly. Service was attentive, but unobtrusive. Ambiance was great. While I was there for dinner, I imagine the views make for a great lunch spot. They have an outdoor dining area that overlooks the Huntington Beach pier. As for the food itself, I had the garlic shrimp appetizer, followed by the short ribs with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans sautéed in shallots. Both were excellent. Ended with the bread pudding for dessert; a little dry for my taste; I prefer a more custardy texture, but still delish."

  • "To be fair I have only eating once and wasn't that impressed. Not enough good meat / steak selection. Service was very good and the view was very nice (we sat on the patio facing PCH. We live local and the wife and I said we would go again and set in the same area and perhaps order a few apps and drinks! Thank you,"

  • "Very nice dinner! Good service, just a bit sporadic. The restaurant seated us a bit early which was nice. A wonderful place to watch the sunset, enjoy a fine cocktail and good dinner."

  • "It is a small place but you don't feel trapped. Nice ambiance . Menu is small. Portions are of normal size. Not huge. If you want huge portions this is not the place to go. Quiet enough to talk one on one, but great for a bigger group."

  • "It seems that, like most restaurants that try to make a go of it at the HB pier, the food quality continues to decline. It's unfortunate because there are so few good restaurants remaining. Dukes seems to do well but the others just seem to slip further and further down. I ordered the pork chop cooked medium - the price was around $23 - $25 without a salad. What I got was a small, tough piece of meat that was way over cooked. The restaurant wasn't busy. The service was prompt - but I get tired of having to return food at a place that charges $25 for a pork chop and $10 for a lettuce wedge salad."

  • "We live in Huntington Beach and have dinner at Sparks about once a month. The location is terrific, on the corner of Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway. From the restaurant's indoor/outdoor balcony, you have a stunning view ocean view. There are overhead heaters on the balcony, so you can dine outside almost 365-days a year! The food is reliably good and the service is always exceptional. The restaurant has a back room often used for larger private parties. Noise level is never bad. I'd recommend the restaurant for a romantic sunset snack (wine and appetizers on the balcony), or a complete dinner. It's great for lunch too!"

  • "The rub on my pork chop was a little too salty for my taste. Overall, the food was good. Server however was a little slow. Entrees were a little cold when they come out."

  • "The evening started with our server setting just the right tempo. She had a very good grasp on how to time her service when people were obviously catching up after a long time! The food was good, not amazing, and my steak was very fatty and chewy. The views are amazing and validated parking is easy downstairs in the parkade. A fun place to meet friends for a drink and dinner!"

  • "My first time here. Ordered the sausage flat bread pizza for an app and pork chops for the entree. Food was really good but a bit pricey."

  • "It was our 25th Anniversary in New Years Eve, the waitress was not friendly, very rude when asking about the menu not even a offer of dessert as a complement for the 25th wedding anniversary. It was disappointed, we try the artichokes appetizer, there were kind burn and not enough to heart pulp to even for a bite. The steak was tough."

  • "What a rare combination - a beautiful view and great food. We timed our visit in order to watch the sunset and it was well worth it."

  • "My well done steak was red inside. I butterflied it and sent it back for them to char. I'm thinking you've made a million steaks, how can you not know it would be red inside. Weird. With all their competition, I think they could have done a better job."

  • "It's nice to go to Spark when it isn't crowded, but the service wasn't great. Food still good and nice outdoor area, but service very uneven and uninspired!"

  • "I took my wife here for her birthday. This was our 4th or 5th visit. The food is always good and the occasion memorable."

  • "We happened upon Sparks on 4th of July about 6 years ago while visiting S.California from Indiana. We been back to the west coast a few times since then and each time we have to include Sparks into our trip. The view is amazing, the food is delicious, and the best part is the consistency. My daughters favorite is the Honey Peppered Atlantic Salmon... I personally could have had an entire meal of the corn chowder!"

  • "Spark has been a favorite of ours for a few years now. They have a martini list that is full of tasty choices and the food is always good and well prepared. We like dining out on the patio and it is especially nice when the fire pit is lit. We are downtown quite a bit since I work there with the public as a local photographer. We always recommend Spark to the travelers we meet for a classy, quiet dining experience that is different than most of the other restaurants in downtown H.B, always putting emphases on the martini list and great food."

  • "The view was great and the crowds are mostly gone from HB making for a nice evening at Spark! Food and service just OK tonight."

  • "We've lived in HB for over 20 years. We've always enjoyed the location when it was a "different" name. However, the food is fabulous now. Great menu! Street noise a little loud but, it's Surf City! Always take guests there!"

  • "I live in HB and it seems every year I want to give this restaurant a chance. The location is great but that's it, nothing else. I should have known when I got there on a Friday night and the restaurant was only 25% full when all other restaurants in the area have a wait. I got the Chef's grill special, with a mini filet, one super small shrimp, terrible margarita and more. All 4 of us were disappointed and after leaving with a $200+ bill made it worse. I fine dine all the time and with this location I keep hoping this restaurant will step up. Rest assured, never a wait!"
