Spago - Las VegasPleasantly SurprisedFriends that used to live in vegas said that the food was excellent, but that the restaurant could get very noisy. The food was great, but the noise was never an issue. We sat in the back corner of the first floor dining room, and conversation was not an issue.
All of the Food was excellent. Highlights were the beet and goat cheese salad, the scallops entree, the Hong Kong-style salmon entree. The grasshopper cheesecake was also delicious, but very small for those who like to share.
Our main waiter was outstanding. Very professional, with just the right amount of attention. Excellent wine recommendation. Flow of the dinner started well, but it seemed we were waiting for a while for our entrees, but that is a small point.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI am a regularI go to Spago every other week and they treat me like family. We had scoped out the menu ahead of time, so we ordered fairly quickly. We were very satisfied with the Flank Steak, asparagus, and fries. All were delicious! I was interested in a lychee martini and although lychee fruit, nor lychee flavored vodka, were available, our waiter had the bartender make up a concoction that was spot-on! The dining room is reasonably pleasant from a noise level perspective .
The cafe area is terribly noisy especially depending in where you are seated.
This is due to the restaurant's placement of it speakers and the ridiculous volume they choose making it impossible to hear or speak to your dining partners . The speakers seem to be located at the point where the cafe opens out on to the pedestrian area. I hope this is not intentional on the part of Spago to rush diners.

This place has been around a long time, and despite the commercialization and proliferation of Puck eateries, this place holds true to being a fantastic experience, with superb service. We had the Chet's tasting menu and it was a great choice. You get to try a pile of menu items and it was all excellent. I was one a time limit (cirque show to follow) and the staff was very attentive and they got us out in time.
If you want the Wolfgang Puck experience, tasting menu at Spago is a must

There are so many business lunch spots away from the strip that it is easy to pass it off. However with the back valet parking feeding off of Industrial Rd. it is a breeze to get in and out of and very centrally located for all parts of town for the locals. The food was fantastic! My husband and I had the fresh asparagus salad, which featured white and green asparagus with a citrus vinaigrette. It was so fresh and delicious! I went a little heavier for the main course, with the beef short ribs, with fresh gnocchi. The dish was fabulous--very tender, flavorful meat, with a wonderful wine-based sauce. We decided to pass on dessert but enjoyed the truffle provided by the chef and a just-right cup of coffee. The service provided by Charlotte was perfect! The braised short ribs and gnocchi were to die for. The staff was superb. Just enough personal conversation from the waiter to be friendly but not to much to be overbearing. Waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some good recommendations. I know some people don't like Puk's establishments but they are at the top of my list for fine dining. Been to Spago, his bar and grill at MGM, and his place at downtown Disney in Orlando. We opted to sit in the dining room as the front room faces into the Shops at the Forum, so it had the feel of eating at a food court. The menu differs by where you sit, which I should have known going into it.
We couldn't figure out who our waiter was as we had two who were helping us: one who was the "beer guy" and one who was our original waiter. The "beer guy" seemed to only know one kind of beer and kept recommending odd choices given what we requested. The other waiter was awkward in conversation. Between the two of them, it was an odd experience.

Every time we visit Vegas we try at least one or two new places. We were so glad we did, because we had a wonderful meal. My husband had the braised short ribs & I had the Wienerschnietizel & they were both delicious. We topped off the meal with their key lime baked Alaska which was a perfect ending to the meal, a must try. We will definitely eat there on our next trip. Our waiter was fantastic & I'm sorry I didn't get the name of the gentleman serving the bread, but he was great as well.
