Spaggi'sEnjoyable EveningMy husband and I had an exceptional dinner at Spaggi's. The decor is very pleasing and the noise level is low. I had Sand Dabs in a lemon caper sauce and my husband had tasty veal medallions in a white wine sauce. Service was exceptional-- our bottle of white wine on ice and the waitress overheard a comment that my husband's birthday was the next day and brought him a delicious piece of red velvet cake. We walked in the door the place looked amazing and the service was really amazing also. We were seated in less than a minute and they had our reserved table ready for us. I liked how the waiter brought us the menus so fast and he also asked if we wanted to hear the specials. The service was so attentive throughout our whole dinner and the ambiance was romantic. It is such a great restaurant and the food was so delicious. The most memorable and most thoughtful touch was the fact that they knew we were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and they brought us a slice of carrot cake with a candle. All food was good to excellent; beef Wellington, veal, and desserts won especially high praise. Impressive wine list, but restaurant could do with a few microbrews on the beer list, which is limited IIRC to Guinness, Peroni, Shock Top, and Budweiser/Coors/Miller (I don't recall exactly which, but none of them belong on the menu at a restaurant of this caliber.) Service was a bit inattentive at times when it came to refilling glasses, etc., but it was late on a weekday, so perhaps not too surprising.
