A word from SouthWest NY
This neighborhood favorite has re-opened in its new home on South End Avenue, just a short block from the Hudson River Esplanade with views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and one block away from the World Trade Center. The massive renovation in the World Financial center caused South West NY to close its doors in the World Financial Center, but now guests can enjoy the new modernized space along with SouthWest's familiar warm hospitality and vibrant atmosphere.

The menu highlights the bold, fresh flavors of contemporary South Western cuisine. Favorites include Mojo Marinated Skirt Steak, Cedar Planked Salmon and Rio Grande salad. The bar features our signature Margaritas and 16 oz Mojitos, and over 35 tequilas.

Heat lamps on the outdoor patio and terrace allow outdoor dining in all but the chilliest weather. Be sure to also stop in at the Black Hound Bar, adjacent to Southwest NY, for an exquisitely crafted cocktail in a handsome setting.

Diner Reviews
  • "Had a nice time with the girls, but the service was extremely slow."

  • "The food and wine were delicious. Had the French Onion soup as an appetizer and the crust of the bread remained crunchy in the broth. Also, my boyfriend had the mussels as an appetizer and he received a large sized portion and was quite happy with it!"

  • "the service is always quite slow, but some of the food is good. it's quite overpriced, but there aren't many options in the area, so we do go back."

  • "Went to SouthwestNY for a birthday lunch and it was fantastic! Working in Battery Park City/FiDi gives you very limited options and I can't believe it's taken me just over a year to find this gem! It certainly isn't one of the first to show up when you Google "restaurants" with the neighborhood zip code so it's easy to miss in an online search. Better late than never! Had the shrimp tacos - SPICY, but excellent. My co-worker had the fish tacos and said it was amazing (note: she claims hers wasn't spicy). We had the chips and guacamole to start, and it's some of the best guac I've had in awhile and the chips are great - not greasy and thick enough to hold heaping scoops of guac. Split the churros for dessert... best. choice. ever."

  • "an interesting set of mojito variations and a solid, though not extensive menu. we both had the braised pork shank and loved it. they were huge - one could have fed two people!. Came here once before with a group and tried every appetizer -- none disappointed. prices are reasonable and the service was spot on."

  • "Great place, close to work to have lunch with the girls"

  • "Their goat cheese & mushroom quesadilla is delicious. As well as the El Valiente Guacamole. Just please train your staff! Teach them how to wait tables & to not forget about them once they've been seated."

  • "Everything we had from appetizers to entrees were great. Drinks are GENEROUS pours, and none of us had room for dessert. Always a good, solid place with friendly (and pretty) wait staff."

  • "Excellent food, good bar, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating."

  • "Dined here a few times now and the food is consistently good. The price for portion size is perfect and the music and decor always please us."

  • "Went for Brunch. Drinks were good sizes. Mussels where delicious! Best Item we had at the table. Bad timing between appetizer and entree though. My entree got cold because of this and that always is annoying. Otherwise, I'd try this place again."

  • "I have been dining at this restaurant for over 15 years. Even though it has a new less seanic location. The food and service is still great."

  • "The entrees were brought to the table while we were still eating appetizers and we had to tell the server we are still eating so he would not continue to put them on the table. When brought back to the table our dinners were no longer warm. The food is good, but there's something very amiss and lackadaisical with service. The restaurant could really improve with more attention to diners. This is my second time here and though I like the place (great margaritas) I don't know if I will return because of above."

  • "Unfortuantely there was just too much waiting around on the wait staff to clear our plates and get our bill. There needs to be more urgency for people eating during their lunch hour. Otherwise, overall it was great food and beautiful atmosphere."

  • "Was surprised by how child-friendly this place it! The food is great as well!"

  • "hopefully one day soon, the financial district, specifically the area near the World Financial Center will get some better options. Until then I will struggle through mediocre, pricey tex-mex regularly. Fish tacos look great but the fish is very bland. Ceviche is delicious but pretty small for the price. I like the quesadillas but how hard is it to mess up a quesadilla? Entrees are hit or mess but are generally very heavy with lots of added oil/fat to it. Waiters/waitresses are unfriendly at best. On the plus side: drinks are good with a nice beer menu. Outdoor seating is nice.. Southwest couldnt survive in any other neighborhood in Manhattan, but given their location and the lack of other options they're doing just fine."
