"Found this restaurant on TripAdvisor while driving through the area on Easter Sunday. Made reservations from iPhone. Turned out to be a real gem of a stop. Lexington was a very picturesque town, and the Southern Inn was a wonderful restaurant. Our table was ready when we arrived, the service was prompt, and the food was first rate. Highly recommended."

"The Southern Inn is a 2 and 1/2 hour drive for us; so obviously we consider it well worth the effort to get there. We meet friends who travel from another direction four or so times a year to celebrate our birthdays. It is always well worth the time and effort to get there. The food is excellent and varied, the service is first rate and the city of Lexington itself is a great place for a pleasant day trip."

"Entree was wonderful but I thought the plates lacked as far as vegetable additions. Bread was served in small quanities. I don't think diners should be expected to order appetizers to feel like they received enough food."

"I loved the spinach and artichoke dip. It was probably the best I've ever had. I ordered a side Caesar salad and a chicken pasta. Both were bland. My husband had fried chicken with mashed potatoes and it was delicious. We ordered the chocolate bread pudding for dessert and it tasted more like a brownie. The service was slow but adequate. The noise level was quiet until some teenagers came in. We had reservations but still had to wait about 15 minutes. Overall the experience was okay but I would definitely go back if given the opportunity and order something different."
