Diner Reviews
  • "Arrived early for a reservation of 6 and was still able to be seated. All hostesses and servers were kind and smiling. The food was great and arrived at the table fast. The only thing I didn't like was that the waitress tried to pull one over about separating the tabs and then proceeded to separate the tab for only 1 couple on the table out of the 3 couples."

  • "We stopped here in the morning before leaving DC. The brunch was delicious!! My friend & I both devoured our meals. The waitress was extremely friendly and courteous with a tremendous energy"

  • "Had a WONDERFUL experience at Southern Hospitality for brunch with a group of girlfriends on a sunny day. We opted for bottomless and the mimosas were tasty and re-filled right away. The servers and bartenders were all truly "hospitable" in their demeanor and you could just tell everyone around the place was having a great time! I got the Smoked Salmon BLT which was delicious as well!"

  • "A pet peeve of mine is a hostess who can't figure out when to abandon policy for common sense. 2 out of my party of 5 arrived for our 2 o clock reservation and asked to be seated. The hostess told us that everyone from our party had to be present to be seated. On this particular day, the weather was atrocious making our party's late arrival completely expected and brunch ends at 3:30 so they wouldn't need to turn our table. After a little back and forth with the hostess, she finally agreed to seat us when 4 of us arrived. {deep sigh} Our waitress was competent but most of the food was forgettable. Mac and cheese was good, but chicken was terribly bland. The mimosas were pleasantly bubbly so if I wasn't starving, I'd return just for those."

  • "I recently visited Southern Hospitality with a group of friends for Sunday brunch! They have an awesome bottomless mimosas. Our waitress left the entire pitcher on the table for us to enjoy! It was great. Food was good, my meal came out a little luke warm and the fried chicken was a little bland. Other than that it was great experience I will definitely be returning."

  • "One can't go wrong with Southern Hospitality for an outing with a friend or a group! Service is always great, and the food is pretty good! Of course you can't go wrong with the bottomless mimosas during brunch. If you're looking for a consistently good place for brunch SoHo is it."

  • "Service was warm and friendly though we did have to ask for drink refills. They were out of a couple of food items - one of which we really wanted (fried green tomatoes). Some of the dishes were excellent - scallops, mac & cheese, shrimp appetizer. Good selection at the bar and drinks were well prepared. Portions were very generous but entrees were just good but nothing outstanding - would probably just go back for drinks and appetizers."

  • "We had a nice sized group for brunch and Souther Hospitality didn't disappoint. We all ordered something we loved, there's bottomless mimosas, and our waiter was amazing. We had so much fun, enjoying the nice sunny day. We have decided as a group to make this our new it spot for brunch and I can't wait to go back and try new things. The whole menu looks amazing."

  • "We had a great time and a great meal. The service was excellent except for the hostess ... we were waiting for a friend and she didn't want to seat us until the friend arrived, although we had a reservation and the friend was only a few minutes away. The hostess was rather pushy about it, but we pushed back and finally got seated. Overall it was a great experience, though. The food is awesome and the prices are very reasonable."

  • "Went for Valentines day dinner and it was absolutely amazing. The server was on point all night and really went above and beyond to make it a wonderful experience. The food was exceptional and i will definitely add it to my list of favorites to visit."

  • "Food was very flavorful with dishes from the South. Food presentation was appetizing. Good wine list. Service was excellent."

  • "I was really impressed with the mint julep, spiked cider, and cheese platter. (Although, for $14, I was expecting a lot more cheese.) But the ribs, rack of lamb, and sides left a lot to be desired. They tasted about $15 less than they were selling for. I'm sure a lot of hard work went into making them, but they just didn't taste like the "down home" dishes you want from a southern restaurant, nor did they really have much flavor. The service was so friendly and welcoming, though--I'm rooting for this place. I would definitely come back for drinks and small bites."

  • "Had brunch at noon on Sunday. Was so loud could not hear the person next to me, all surfaces are hard and the laughing and loud conversations echoed in the space. The food was excellent, but wont go back."

  • "Love to try new brunch spots on Sundays so a friend recommended this spot ... Strike 1... I was lost called restaurant like 10 times starting at 12 pm until like 12:45... no one every answered the phone and you couldn't leave a message because mail box was full...Really! Strike 2... the majority of dishes on menu contained porky.. in this day and time Really!!...Being although I don't eat pork or beef I immediately wanted to leave.. but didn't want to be a Debbie downer to the others in my party. Strike3...After ordering our food no one was impressed ...the decision was unanimous we will NOT be returning again. The server was trying to rectify the problems with our food but it was really over for me at that point"

  • "I went to brunch with a friend and we enjoyed the food! Eggs Chesapeake and bottomless mimosas. Fried green tomatoes and dessert waffles! The food came out quickly and the mimosas were frequent. My waiter was great, poised pleasant and professional. The server bringing the food was quite rude, emitting only non verbal grunts when asked a question. The two girls working the front desk on 2/9 at 1245 pm had awful attitudes. Apparently it was more important to talk to each other then to seat my friend and I. Also I called the front desk on my way to the restaurant and I couldn't get an answer...as I walk in the two girls are standing right in front of the phone! The food is exquisite and the atmosphere was fair a bit loud."

  • "Missing Southern specialties like meat loaf, catfish, black eye peas, cornbread etc.. They are trying to be more gourmet. We chose it for good, simple Southern down home cooking and were disappointed. We called because we got a bit lost in travel, no one answered the phone and mailbox was full. When we arrived 5min. late the restaurant was empty except for a few tables. Later on when we were leaving it started to get a bit more lively."

  • "Decided to try out Southern Comfort on a whim - original brunch plans cancelled about 30 mins before, so went to open table to find a location. Stumbled across here and decided to go for it based on the other reviews. The food was very good. I have the crab cake benedict, which was very good. My girlfriend has the shrimp and grits - they were AMAZING! Almost considered ordering another plate. The server was very nice and attentive. Unfortunately we didn't get to indulge in the unlimited mimosa's, because we couldn't stay long, but it's definitely on my list of return locations."

  • "Southern Hospitality does everything right. Great food, friendly atmosphere, wonderful service. Everything on the menu is delicious, but their cheese grits are by far the best grits in the city. SoHo is a real gem, and always worth a visit!"

  • "I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a great southern place. I had the waffles with bacon and home fries and it was fantastic. My friend got the chicken benedict, and she said it was a nice twist to normal eggs benedict. Mimosas were actually bottomless and the staff was really friendly."

  • "This restaurant had very good food, excellent wait service and a pleasant atmosphere. It would have gotten 4.5 stars from me. Only issue is that upon arrival the hostess was totally acting as if she was doing us a favor. We were not allowed flexibility in which table we wanted because the restaurant, she claimed, was full. It was always at least 1/3 empty the entire time we were there. Worse, upon seating us she promptly informed us that our table is only reserved for us for 2.5 hour. To me that is incredibly rude. Since there are bottomless mimosas, I can understand that if ordering that item then one would be told it is good for only a period of time. But to tell us that as soon as we were seated is rude, and lacks tact and class."

  • "The eggs florentine & fried chicken benedicts keep us coming back to this place for brunch every few weeks (it's right around the corner from our house), so it seemed like a natural place to go on New Year's Day. For the first time, we were a little disappointed in the service. We made a reservation and then arrived to learn it would be 20 minutes until there was a table ready for us. The hostess was clearly overwhelmed by the crowd and wasn't ready to juggle the dozen or so people waiting for tables, complaining about late reservations, etc. We finally just took vacant bar seats and cancelled our reservation."

  • "We made last minute reservations for NYE and Southern Hospitality was able to accommodate us. Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. For drinks, we enjoyed the Old South and the hot spiked cider, both delicious. We picked the Brussels sprouts for our appetizer, which were tasty, but probably wouldn't order again. I think they would have been much improved if they were roasted and had a bit of crunch to them. For our entrees we got the NYE surf and turf special and filet mignon for the other dish. The turf portion of my entree was a bit overcooked, but delicious with the wine reduction and onion straws that coated it. Overall, a wonderful experience and a great NYE dinner."

  • "Having recently visited Charleston SC and experienced their southern hospitality, I was interested in experiencing some of that same spirit in DC and was not disappointed! The dinner and wait staff gave you the feeling that you were their special guest - friendly, helpful and just overall very pleasant. Really enjoyed our dinner upstairs then spent time downstairs at the very active bar-wait staff could not have been more accommodating. Look forward to going back on our next visit to DC! (The shrimp appetizer and southern fried chicken with mac&cheese were great) Thanks for a wonderful night!"

  • "I had a reservation for a late Saturday dinner. I called the restaurant to let them know I was running late but no one answered. Consequently, when I arrived, our table had been given away. Thankfully, the outside patio was open and, with the heat lamps, it was quite comfortable. It was VERY LOUD insdie as there was college football on the bar TVs and a lot of people enjoying the games. The food was just OK. The waffle as part of the fried chicken and waffle entree, was good but the chicken had no flavor/seasoing. The fried green tomatoes were also lacking in seasoning. I felt bad for the folks sitting next to us who were visiting from Australia and were excited to experience "good Southern cooking"- I don't think they got it."

  • "This was my first visit to SoHo and I would absolutely make a visit back there again. Having not brunched in the AdMo area before I was pleasently surprised at how darling it was compared to a typical mess of a Saturday or Sunday night the neighborhood is. Bottomless deal is a decent one and I never saw the end of my glass which is always nice. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits - I'm not a southern girl but this dish was right up my alley, delicious!!"
