Southern HospitalitySecond time there. This time,Second time there. This time, we sat in the bourbon lounge. It was a little dark at first, so it was like walking out of a movie theatre in the daytime. Fun place and good food!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat BBQVery friendly staff. Great BBQ but a little pricey. I think one Southern side should be included.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMYou should have a brunch menu! You should have a brunch menu! That would be awesome!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Time VisitI had the Shrimp and Cheese Grits which were awesome. It was very savory. You just took a spoonful and whirled it around in your mouth, it was so good. The peach cobbler was nice - more peaches and less cobbler, which I like.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Food and Great Service! My experience at Southern Hospitality was nothing short of fantastic. I left feeling content and the food was phenomenal. I do have to credit our server, Brent, for his fabulous suggestions. He pointed us in the right direction on what we should order and what items should not be missed. Thanks to his tips, we left feeling very satisfied.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great this trip andFood was great this trip and service was fast and friendly.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFood & service were excellent,Food & service were excellent, place is definitely high energy, staff very friendly. If you like Bourbon, you gotta try this, & I'll come here for BBQ (or bourbon) anytime! I had heard the place was special, so I came downtown on a lark & just to try it on a Saturday night, glad I did. Think they have a party room, did not see it personally.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWho would have known...We thoroughly enjoyed our meal from the first bite of Fried Green Tomatoes to the last tiny bit of divine Banana Pudding. There were large groups and families with young children, all having a great time and not too loud for our group of 3 adults.
They are new and are great...hope they stay around.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSouthern Hospitality is great.Southern Hospitality is great. It's about time Denver has a restaurant that knows how to cook fried chicken. Also the beer selection(Abita)was great and the selection of bourbon mix drinks was outstanding. Can't wait to return.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food, vibe, drink selection,The food, vibe, drink selection, and location is great! It is a fun restaurant, they have a great Bourbon bar and friendly staff. You can even stream their radio and when you have a restaurant founded by 2 successful recording artists it is all about the music!!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my new favorite BBQThis is my new favorite BBQ place. The chicken and waffles were fantastic and the brisket was moist and tender. It was awesome.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fantastic! TheThe food was fantastic! The portions are large enough to share. The drink menu had a good variety and the drinks were not watered down at all. Definitely a great place to eat and/or hang out to watch a game. I will certainly be visiting again soon!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful! We sat outside on a Sunday afternoon and had a great experience. The server was very friendly and attentive. The food was very good. We had a fried chicken salad, a prime rib sandwich and a bbq sampler platter. It was all delicious. The fried green tomatoes were fantastic too! We took plenty of leftovers home.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPricing a little high forPricing a little high for Denver but very nice staff!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent BBQ and sould food.Excellent BBQ and sould food. At first glance prices seem high, but portions are large and food quality is excellent (plan on sharing or taking food home). Excellent drink menu that is very local and heavily whiskey-based. Decor is very fun. Definitely worth checking out.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Friendly service.Excellent food. Friendly service. A great new place in town. Generous portions. Reasonable prices. Will definitely be back to dine again.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall we enjoyed our lunch.Overall we enjoyed our lunch. Pros: Pulled chicken is excellent both in the chopped salad, the sandwich, and the platter. Fried pickles were tasty. The cheese hushpuppies were dry and dense even with the aioli sauce. Too bad, great idea. Cool restauraunt with a casual vibe.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery part of our experienceEvery part of our experience was beyond our expectation. We'll DEFINITELY be back!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMStart with the hushpuppiesWe had a 5:45 res the Saturday before St. Patrick's day and downtown was alive. At least part of the 'energetic' noise rating I can attribute to the folks at the bar celebrating the holiday, not a knock on the restaurant at all, but it is a BBQ place so a quiet night for two is not really something you should plan on if you sit upstairs. Overall I liked the menu very much, but I wish there was a rib and brisket combo option. I ended up ordering the brisket straight-up based on a recommendation from the hostess who backed up her comment about the brisket being her favorite item with the fact that she was from Memphis. She was right. The brisket had great texture and smoke. Make sure to save room for dessert too...excellent southern options.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBBQ & whiskeygood southern BBQ and side dishes, excellent choice of whiskey and bourbon3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSouthern Hospitality - Comfort FoodThe atmosphere is fun, upstairs tends to be loud, downstairs not as open so quieter but, the noise can depend on the energy of other people around you. The food was definitely comfort food and done well... we had the fried green tomatoes (YUM) and I had the baby back ribs (nicely prepared) and good sauce as well. Big groups might be a struggle... prob not the best place for a romantic dinner.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDenver Restaurant Week/5280Denver Restaurant Week/5280 brought us in to try Southern Hospitality. We had a feeling we were going to be pleased. To our delight we were greeted by a friendly staff and outstanding server.
SH was very intelligent to design a 5280 menu that encouraged people to try with an excellent value. We will certainly be back and happy to play full price!
- Great portions
- Request downstairs for Groups, Romantic and Special Occasions
- Quaint bar downstairs3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNice to have upscale BBQ downtown!Nice to have upscale BBQ downtown! This was our first time and we came for lunch. Great food, service, and location! I ordered the sliders and my friend had the LoDo sandwich. Both were very good and I look forward to trying many things offered on the large menu.3/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSouthern Hospitality is MYSouthern Hospitality is MY kinda place. You walk in and immediately notice the shabby-chic decor. The walls are adorned with giant rusted out 3D letters that spell out lyrics from my favs: Johnny Cash & Elvis.
The food is great too! Huge portions of smoked prime rib egg rolls, fried green tomatoes, hush puppies began to roll out, shortly after our attentive waiter brought or cocktails. The egg rolls were the early favorite. I had the smoked prime rib, which was very good, but after sampling the ribs and shrimp & grits off the plates of my table mates, I was second-guessing my choice. I DID however score the best 2 side dishes; baked beans, which were more like a bowl of pulled pork, and grits.2/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
