  • "We live downtown and when our youngest was just a sprout, Juanita's was our go-to for Friday nights with friends. We have many happy memories associated with it. When South of Main went in, it took us a while to patronize it as we just couldn't quite imagine it. Well we were pleasantly surprised from the moment we walked in on a dark and stormy Friday night. I had a beautiful cocktail called the dark and stormy. From then on our spirits soared. Both food and service were way above average. What fun! How exciting. Many new memories to be made."

  • "Our first time was a Local Live Wednesday evening as we were drawn by the jazz group scheduled to perform. Loved the music and ambience of the restaurant - it has the feel of a comfortable neighborhood kind of place you would frequent often. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Not as impressed with our dinner selections, though. Ordered the chicken and the pork chop entrees, and both were a little undercooked. We also shared one of the desserts, and that was excellent! I think we would return and give it another chance, trying another dinner entrée, or just drinks and dessert. There are upcoming musical events scheduled that we are interested in. We very much want to support this local business and area of town!"

  • "We came to South On Main for our 27th anniversary and had a great time. A quaint table was set up for us and they made my wife feel very special with some nice touches. Service and food was great, Chef Matt has really let his creativity flow. We loved the generous use of locally grown produce. We don't eat a lot of desserts but the Brown Sugar Cakes with a compote of (local) blueberries was amazing. A nice dinner, we'll be back."

  • "I must say, we were very excited to eat at South on Main. Various friends expressed negative feedback in the past, but with open minds we took the plunge. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was extremely accommodating, knowledgeable and attentive. The meal, however, was just okay. The presentation was nice, but the food lacked flavor. I did like the dessert in a jar though. That was very tasty."

  • "The food was wonderful, ambience fun and loved the music - and the musicians. The chairs, however, were uncomfortable for a three hour seating."

  • "Creative menu always surprises in a positive way. When friends from Dallas visit us in Little Rock the first thing they want to do is go to South on Main. Love the food and terrific staff."

  • "We went to South on Main primarily to see the musical act. Karen Jr. was great, but the food was amazing. The four of us all ordered different entrees. We sampled each other's food and were exceedingly pleased with each selection. The server seemed to be stretched a bit thin. He was attentive and personal when at the table but was absent from the floor too often. We did not see very many servers on the floor all night. We did enjoy our visit, however, and will likely do it again..... Soon."

  • "The food was wonderful and the service matched. Everything from the appetizers to the deserts was perfection. The only downside was that we were there on an evening that didn't have music."

  • "My husband was very impressed with the duck. The drinks we had from the menu were excellent. We'll be back and bring friends. We are especially happy to find another restaurant we enjoy in the downtown area, since we come from around Scott. Service was excellent."

  • "The food was great. It has some "adventuresome" items on the menu, and they were outstanding. Great cocktails as well."

  • "Enjoyed the experience from beginning to end. Great table for two by the window with comfortable chairs. The waiter was great: attentive and helpful without being pushy. Especially enjoyed the appetizers. I had fried oysters, and my wife had beets with goat cheese. Ended with a jar for dessert. Excellent!!!! Hope to return to South on Main soon."

  • "South on Main is doing unique, courageous and beautiful things with food, and it's completely one of a kind in not just Little Rock, but the entire state of Arkansas. Start with the blackberry bramble for a cocktail, and finish with ordering all three of the day's desserts for sharing. Loved it!!"

  • "I went here with a friend for a birthday dinner. The food was awesome. The scene was happening and the entertainment was different, but we really liked it. The service was good, but the waiter seemed a little distracted. When he was at our table, he was great; however, he had a large table and would disappear for extended periods of time. That could have been better. Overall, it was a great experience and we can't wait to do it again."

  • "This was my first time at South on Main. We were a party of four. The gin and tonic was really good! Service was good, but our entree came out while we were still enjoying our first course! Service staff and chef need to work in timeing. I ordered the catfish, it was very tough- I could not cut it with a fork. Everything else on the plated was delicious. Striped Bass, Pork Chop and Duck were good. I would like to back and catch a show. All in all we had a good experience at South in Main."

  • "My companions and I all came to the conclusion that this is the sort of restaurant one would expect to find in Nashville or Charleston. It's not everything for everyone, but what they do is superb. Innovative approaches to good ingredients. If you are a "foodie," this must be on your list. "

  • "Who knew Little Rock had a scene?! Super hip vibe, great local food, and an excellent wait staff. I would drive the 2 hours from Memphis just to eat here. Go. Now! And save room for desert."

  • "The food was great, as usual, and the drinks hit the spot. Love the vegetable sides and the recent menu changes. Glad to see a change with tempting options. Glad the trotters are still around - likely my favorite of all time app in my 20 yrs here in LR as a foodie. Keep up the great work. "

  • "This is the best food in Little rock, hands down. You can't beat the gourmet soul food. This restaurant will be top of the list, even in NYC"

  • "We had not been before and throughly enjoyed it. A small menu of quality creative dishes with a nod to the south; our food was great and other food that passed by the table looked well worth trying. Hand mixed drink was good, and small wine list had decent choices. Prices reasonable in comparison to other restaurants in town where one would see similar work in the kitchen. Would certainly go again. Was thinking it would be a good place to take friends visiting from elsewhere."

  • "The night we went the place wasent busy. The service was above average. But, the food felt as though it had sat out for some time. Watch your "plating" too long before sending it out."

  • "Best Old Fashioned and Sazarac in town! Great food, too! But the bar is the best mixology in town."

  • "It was our first time to eat here, after hearing countless raves about it. Unfortunately, it didn't quite measure up. The cocktails were the best part. They were spot on, but the food and sevice left much to be desired. Both were on the bland side. It wasn't worth the money. If I were to go back, it would strictly be for cocktails."

  • "Our waiter was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations. The girls and I all loved the food. I had the gun bun chard and Duck breast with Corn Spatzle- I ate every morsel. It was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. My dessert was the brownie cookies with salted caramel and ice cream. It was big enough to share and we all loved it. I sampled the Paloma- it too was a very tasty & refreshing drink. "

  • "We were looking for authentic southern recipes cooked well, and this was a good place. It was not as busy as I would have guessed from other reviews, but we were there on a Thursday. Service was delightful. Portions are certainly a decent size to allow sampling of an appetizer or salad along with the entree. Nice wine list. My only concern was that the fried things all basically tasted the same."

  • "Found the place empty at 6:00PM on a Saturday night but went in and ultimately was rewarded with an interesting and for the most part tasty meal. The menu was unusual, and resembled those of Monroe Chef Cory Bahr - eclectic, limited, with some unusual choices, such as rabbit and a veggie faux steak. We had potato soup and "grilled" oysters for appetizers, the soup being very good, the oysters being sort of half baked, not very well seasoned. There were no salads offered on the menu, which was disappointing. I had the duck breast, which was excellent, although not of a generous portion. Wife's chicken dish was also tasty. Except for the carrots the veggies were Unrecognizable but ok. A little pricey for what you get, but interesting place."

  • "I've been to SOM many times, and each time it's better. This meal was nothing short of outstanding. My rabbit dish was awesome as were my tastings of everything else on our table. Bravo, SOM!"

  • "The food was delicious and our waitress was friendly and very efficient. This was a great place for a romantic birthday dinner with my husband. It was a little pricey but well worth it. They also have a stage for shows later in the evening. I would definitely eat here again."
