We just had dessert, one of their little jars filled with a light pumpkin pudding/custard & brown sugar ice cream. The perfect amount for after dinner and surprisingly delicious with my wine.

This was a great spot for a relaxed but yet timely lunch with a group of colleagues. The staff were very nice, our waiter was very attentive, and the food was exceptionally good! Pricing is reasonable for such quality food and service. I definitely recommend the restaurant and will go back.

Hmmm Interesting place. Kind of like granny from the Beverly hillbillies meets Julia child and they adopt a kid who grows up to be the chef. My friend had chicken and an assortment of vegetables including fried potatoes which she said were very good. I had the pork chops which were fair but the squash soup was very good. The fried tomato salad was okay. The fried tomato salad was dead didn't seem to fit together – why did they put two fried tomatoes in there? It was just a salad and two big O fried tomatoes put in there? You get the feeling that this restaurant is just a step or two short of becoming excellent and I will go back and wish them luck.

This was my first visit to South On Main. There were four people in my party. The food was good. The waiter was very friendly, but I would gladly trade in some of that friendly for a little better service. He seemed to be trying to accommodate too many tables. And that made him late on delivering my wife's second glass of wine and he didn't come back and check on us enough in my opinion. Overall dining experience was okay. This place struck me as the type of restaurant where you might go if you have lots of time to have lots of conversation. The reason I say that is because of the timeline between drink orders and the time that elapsed before our meal was served. Very laid back atmosphere. Nothing fancy, but interesting little place.

Our experience at SOM was outstanding!!! The Chef Matt has been able to elevate the Southern home cooking. Local ingredients are used throughout the meal and we felt like we were eating from someone's home. The pork chop and catfish were amazing, but the best thing.... were the fried oysters. I would drive 3 hours for those oysters. The wait staff did a great job explaining the various ingredients and helped us make smart decisions. I asked if I should stick with my Old Fashioned or move to wine. Our waiter said the Old Fashioned would be a better pairing with our meal. Overall, its a great restaurant with great folks. Highly recommend.

I would have never expected this edgy and cool place anywhere in Little Rock. The food was highly advanced and outside the box but outstanding and suitable for a city like New York or Chicago. A little heave in the meat side and because I'm a vegetarian there was only a select few things I could order. But we made up for it by ordering all 3 desserts which I highly recommend.

We reserved a table for four before going to a Repertory Theater performance. The server was delightfully engaging and very attentive. The food was "off the hook" . Try the trotters; they are surprisingly delicious. I had the pork chops and loved every bite. The others all had the grilled catfish with fried grits and cleaned their plates. Will be back. Great place to go before a performance. Prices were very reasonable for what you get, which is beautifully presented, delicious and unique.

It is in the details that South on Main oozes "The South". It's decor does not replicate southern life - it is southern life. Drink from a jar or the eclectic menu that may not seem scream southern at a glance but tastes nothing but. We went on a Wednesday night and enjoyed live music from the John Miller band. Simple "A Fantastic Experience"!

It's an interesting venue that obviously cannot decide whether it wants to be a bar or a restaurant. They fail as a restaurant. The food is prepared poorly, parts tasting burned, others not matching the menu description. This restaurant is way too expensive for the quality of the end product.

Cool atmosphere and interesting entertainment/events. Service was very good - entrees were OK. My husband ordered the rib-eye and it was not a good cut of meat-may have been s sirloin? The bass was OK. The best part of the meal was the chicken liver appetizer. The menu needs a little more variety. I would go back for drinks and the appetizer!

Once again the food was EXCELLENT! We had the trotters and quail as appetizers. The chicken was cooked to perfection. Moist and delicious. The pork chop is my husbands favorite and he was pleased once again. The peanut butter cookies and the peach jar were phenomenal! My wife and I went to SOMA for our anniversary dinner on a Friday night. We traditionally look for an upscale dining experience for such an occasion. This time we wanted a little more adventure so we tried the less formal and understated SOMA. We really enjoyed our evening from the vintage cocktails to the starters and entrées to the service. The atmosphere was definitely not formal but the quality of the service and food made the evening feel appropriate for the occasion. My wife's meal of sea bass, fresh kernel corn and fried corn cakes was exceptional. My rabbit and ham rolls was good but the duck confit appetizer was outstanding. Everything tasted fresh and unique. Service was attentive and courteous. Well done SOMA

We live downtown and when our youngest was just a sprout, Juanita's was our go-to for Friday nights with friends. We have many happy memories associated with it. When South of Main went in, it took us a while to patronize it as we just couldn't quite imagine it. Well we were pleasantly surprised from the moment we walked in on a dark and stormy Friday night. I had a beautiful cocktail called the dark and stormy. From then on our spirits soared. Both food and service were way above average. What fun! How exciting. Many new memories to be made.

Our first time was a Local Live Wednesday evening as we were drawn by the jazz group scheduled to perform. Loved the music and ambience of the restaurant - it has the feel of a comfortable neighborhood kind of place you would frequent often. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Not as impressed with our dinner selections, though. Ordered the chicken and the pork chop entrees, and both were a little undercooked. We also shared one of the desserts, and that was excellent! I think we would return and give it another chance, trying another dinner entrée, or just drinks and dessert. There are upcoming musical events scheduled that we are interested in. We very much want to support this local business and area of town!

We came to South On Main for our 27th anniversary and had a great time. A quaint table was set up for us and they made my wife feel very special with some nice touches. Service and food was great, Chef Matt has really let his creativity flow. We loved the generous use of locally grown produce. We don't eat a lot of desserts but the Brown Sugar Cakes with a compote of (local) blueberries was amazing. A nice dinner, we'll be back.

I must say, we were very excited to eat at South on Main. Various friends expressed negative feedback in the past, but with open minds we took the plunge. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was extremely accommodating, knowledgeable and attentive. The meal, however, was just okay. The presentation was nice, but the food lacked flavor. I did like the dessert in a jar though. When my wife and I decided to visit Little Rock, we weren't expecting much food-wise. However, I did do a bit of searching and found South on Main. The reviews overall were good and we always prefer small, neighborhood specific restaurants, so I made a reservation. Let me just say...if you don't eat anything else or even look at the menu, order the Trotters. I don't quite know how best to explain them, but the dish is amazing. Never heard of it before, but ordered it at the suggestion of our server. Really great...don't miss. Otherwise, our meal was very good and I would certainly return if in Little Rock again. The one thing that causes me to keep the overall rating as "Good" is the giant stage positioned in the middle of the space.
