South End ButteryGreat for brunchI took my mother here for Mother's Day brunch. The food was delicious! Sand the place is adorable I will definitely be going back5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOverallThe Buttery was charming , friendly , and very cozy. Had the beet and goat cheese salad........excellent . Unfortunately the beef bourguinon, the recommendation of the bartender, was rather dry and overcooked. I was rather disappointed with it.
Nice evening and all in all a nice time.....just wish the food had been tops!! Sorry.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat BrunchThis was my second time here and both times have been great. They have a good sized brunch menu and good cocktails. I will definitely be coming back again. The place is small and I think there is only one table that fits more than 4 people. The first time I came here was with a group of 6 - I was lucky that a large party had apparently just cancelled their reservation, so we were seated right away - but I would definitely recommend a reservation.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprise in the South End!My daughter and I enjoyed everything about the South End Buttery. They were flexible when we had to change our reservations. and the basement is snug and comfortable. We had mushroom mac and cheese-fantastic The mussels were absolutely wonderful-we would recommend them to anyone. e had the eggplant, which we both enjoyed but it was very filling. My daughter loved the little cupcakes even though we didn't have any room to put them in our tummies. Ambiance was great, cost was reasonable.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSo happy it is MY neighborhood gemNot everyone can walk for 6 minutes and reach the Buttery, but fortunately my family now can. Moving to the South End puts you in close proximity to lots of good restaurants. You want to try them all, but some are going to be the ones you keep coming back to. South End Buttery is one of those - we stop in there for coffee, lunch, snacks and now, dinner. Never does it disappoint. The food is delicious, inventive and priced reasonably. The dinner service is much calmer than the daytime frenzy and its tucked away, downstairs dining room adds to the experience.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA little loud in the downstairsA little loud in the downstairs room, but otherwise a great eating experience5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love this place. It isWe love this place. It is so good in every possible way! Food, local neighborhood atmosphere and just a treat! Outdoors when we were leaving, we saw folks with their dogs sitting at outside tables....love it.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWarm and cozyGood experience overall; cozy and warm atmosphere but much too loud. The food ranged from just fine/average to fairly/very good but nothing was exceptional. In some ways a neighborhood gem--and could be romantic-- because of the atmosphere, but the noise level precludes both of those to some extent. Supposedly great for brunches.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall a great experience.Overall a great experience. I would highly recommend this place! Delicious.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter a harrowing week itAfter a harrowing week it was good to go someplace with a high comfort level! Thank you4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, not easy toGreat service, not easy to find even in higher-end places. Thanks for an enjoyable dining experience!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMCozy Neighborhood RestaurantService was excellent and the ambiance was very soothing, friendly. the food is good but not memorable. I did have salmon which came with parsnips. I don't like parsnips so asked for cauliflower instead. My friend had the special fish and chips which was excellent. Too bad I can't eat fried food, I would have ordered it. Took us 30 mins to find parking. They held our table on Friday night (I had told them we had arrived but were looking for parking) and did not rush us through our meal. At the end of the evening, went in the front - was give a chocolate delicacy at the end of the evening. Well worth the trip in from JP and WR and look forward to returning.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoying this neighborhood gemReally enjoy coming here. The food is always very nice and the staff is on top of things. Small but super cozy.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to South End ButteryWent to South End Buttery for dinner based on a recommendation from my daughter (it's one of her favorite restaurants). It didn't disappoint. The restaurant is small but the food was great. I'm on a veggie burger kick, so I tried their veggie burger, which was based on chick peas and a bunch of other things...... innovative and delicious, plus it came with a scrumptious mayonnaise based sauce. My colleagues had more "normal dishes", like meat loaf, trout and chicken. All were scrumptious. For dessert we shared a pear soaked in something delicious (so it came out red) - it was spicy, savory and eaten quickly. We also had their sunday, which was also great. All-in-all, a great place.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA-Maze.Went for Easter Brunch, just down right fabulous. Love it, the food and drink was great.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThree of us ate at the bar--goodThree of us ate at the bar--good selection of fun drinks and great apps. awesome desserts.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch on a Saturday withBrunch on a Saturday with a reservation for 5. Was seated right away. The french fries are excellent: crispy outside and warm starchy inside. Eat them with the aioli; both are terrific. The brioche french toast is nice and fluffy. The Angus cheeseburger and the crab cake sandwich were both good, however the arugula salad with the crab cake was better than the greens that came with the burger.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great time at thisAlways a great time at this delightful restaurant.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful menu, it was hardWonderful menu, it was hard to decide what we were all going to get. Will defiantly return to continue tasting from the wide variety.
Reservation was on time, and although busy the atmosphere was pleasant and we were able to carry on our own conversation without being drowned out by those around us.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat warm and pleasant placeGreat warm and pleasant place on a cold evening. The food was terrific! Reasonable prices. Small so book ahead.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWE MISS THE MUSHROOM RAVIOLI!WE MISS THE MUSHROOM RAVIOLI! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!!!
This is one of our favorite restaurants in our neighborhood, but we miss the ravioli3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth it every time! The service and food are always great. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate special requests.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved it. We went thereWe loved it. We went there for brunch and the food and atmosphere was terrific. It is a bit crowded, that is my only other critique. I would remove a table or two to create a bit more space.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
