We have a beautiful private function space with a fireplace that is perfect for rehearsal dinners, bridal and baby showers and birthday parties! We can also accommodate your function in our first floor dining space for guests who cannot climb stairs independently.

"After several friends recommended it to me and I read good reviews online, I decided to make a reservation at the South End Buttery for Easter brunch. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated immediately. The service was very good, with our friendly and prompt waitress. The real highlight, however, was definitely the food. While they don't have as many "typical" breakfast food selections, you can get pancakes, eggs, sausage/bacon and some other breakfast staples. If you're more adventurous there are plenty of other items on the menu. Everyone in my group enjoyed the food they were served, and I look forward to going back to try other dishes. I recommend getting the Buttery Basket to start."

"As always, South End Buttery is a great place to catch up with friends over fabulous food. My friend and I started with one of the blueberry scones (AMAZING). She had the Buttery Breakfast (--a classic), and I had the goat cheese omelet (--yummm). Had an absolutely enjoyable time. :) Made me wish every morning were a Saturday or Sunday so I could always enjoy South End Buttery brunch!"

"This was my second visit to the Buttery. What's nice about it is the physical environment. The lighting and the display cases are inviting and remind one of France. The menu is also inviting. But several things fell short: 1) the service was a little odd, 2) the presentation of the beet salad was bad (pale beets on pale lettuce slopped on a plate), 3) no parking (I know they can't help that but it creates a challenge), 4) the bakery case closes before the restaurant, 5) the noise in the downstairs seating area was deafening (and I don't usually notice these sorts of things). On the plus side the brussels sprouts were amazing!"

"We booked a reservation online around 1:30pm for a Sat. brunch reservation at 3pm (same day). I quickly received a call from the restaurant informing me that there was an error online and that the kitchen usually closes at 3pm. They asked if we could get there slightly early but they would guarantee they keep the kitchen open for us since it was not our fault. We arrived as quickly as possible and the staff was amazing. We did not feel rushed, they let us take our time and enjoy our lunch. We both tried the veggie burger which was good; comes with a lot of greens. The muffins are delicious and you have to try the Royale champagne cocktail! This is some of the best service we have experienced, we would def. go back."

"Got a table next to the fireplace in the cellar level - very cosy, and a nice start to a great evening of dining with my wife and a friend. Service was very accommodating and the food was excellent. Only complaint were the roasted brussel sprouts which came charred and dessicated. I had the curried shrimp and loved it. Just wish they had a larger seafood menu to choose from (salmon was the only other choice). Desserts were reported to be wonderful (mini cupcakes and mousse), although I did not try them."

"I've been there many times before, and was really disappointed with this visit.
Ten minutes wait to see a harried server; another 10 minutes wait for the bottle of wine to be delivered, had to ask for the bread basket; caesar salad had never seen an anchovy; the ravioli were swimming in grease; and the fish and chips had gone downhill. The only friendly and smiling server was the busboy.
Don't go on a Saturday night; even with a reservation."

"We noticed that the prices at The Buttery have gone up a notch to be consistent with all the better S. End restaurants. Unfortunately, the incredibly loud noise level (related to the tables being placed so close together and the low ceiling downstairs) doesn't equate to that type of experience."

"food was great. service was lacking but we had a new waiter. Forgot we had ordered wine and blamed in on printer problems, brought soup without a spoon. Service in the past has been fine."
