Diner Reviews
  • "Great Gluten Free options, and very knowledgeable about Gluten Free items on the menu. "

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful brunch. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful."

  • "Awesome experience, the best southern eclectic food in Atlanta, and Nathan was an unbelievably knowledgable, attentive, and all round outstanding server!"

  • "We are not from Atlanta but have been to South City Kitchen in Midtown and liked it a lot. The one in Vinings was even better. Loved the "metro" atmosphere--nice, but not too fussy. Our party ordered several entrees but the Fried Chicken was by far the best thing on the table. I grew up on fried chicken in Alabama so when I tell you it was perfect, I know what I'm talking about! The collards were sweet--even the non-collard eaters at the table loved them. The service was great, even though there was at least one picky diner at the table. We will make South City Vinings a regular when we are in Atlanta!"

  • "Everything we had was wonderful and would for sure come back to try other items"

  • "The food was very tasty and delicious. Our server was phenomenal!"

  • "Went on suggestion of a work colleague, billed a high end southern cuisine. I enjoyed the drinks, dinner and staff. We had to remind waiter a couple of times about items ordered but it didn't ruin the evening."

  • "Loved the scallops, loved the fried chicken. Great service. Great reasonably priced wine list too!"

  • "Everything about SCKV is wonderful. The food is delicious, there's something for everyone if your group has diverse tastes, the timing between courses is perfect, the service is consistently wonderful. And you can get great wine or craft cocktails or your favorite classic cocktail. The bartenders are very talented mixologists!"

  • "I give both South City Kitchen locations an enthusiastic thumbs up! The fried chicken is delicious! I admit I prefer the bar at the Vinings location. However, the overall ambiance is better at the Midtown location. Both places tend to be on the noisy side as the evening wears on. Despite that, you won't be disappointed with the food or cocktails."

  • "Really good food. Service is good, but can be slow on the weekends. It's also not the type of place you want to walk in without a reservation, especially on the weekends. You'll also want to give yourself extra time to find a park.. I'd suggest the fried chicken livers. They are phenomenal. Also the spiced pear martini on the rocks is excellent. Great place for a special occasion or just for a good meal. Much better atmosphere than the Midtown location which is cramped and noisy and you have to pay for parking there."

  • "Had dinner and was very delicious. Music was too loud but manager was agreeable to lowering the sound"
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "The food was good, but the noise level and the slow service takes away from the experience. Not recommended for a romantic meal or to catch up with conversations."

  • "I absolutely love SCK for brunch. Make reservations or there may be a wait. The community loves this place."

  • "My wife had prime beef an I had catfish; both were delicious and well-prepared as usual. It was a wonderful birthday treat."
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "On this particular day, the service was slow (all around), but that is definitely not the norm. Everything else was great!"
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "The food was good but overpriced. The fried chicken has the label of "Best Friend Chicken in Cobb County." It was good, but I don't think it's worth $18. It came with Smashed Potatoes and Collard greens. My wife ordered the scallops. The waitress suggested that she order an additional side (other than the arugula and parsnip puree it came with) because the dish was not very filling. The scallops entree was $26 and it's not filling? My wife opted for the additional side of Lobster Mac & Cheese, which was delicious, but priced at $11. Overall, the service was great, great beer and wine selection and the food was indeed good, but not worth the money we paid for it. Will most likely not return due to prices."

  • "The food was impeccable and the service 5-star at this lovely, airy Vinings treasure. The Fried Green Tomato appetizer was the best we ever had, and the seafood fresh and delicious. Would recommend in a heartbeat, and will definitely be back!"

  • "First visit but will not be the last. That's saying a lot since I live 20 miles away in Johns Creek. Service was great ... our wait person (hate that I can't remember her name) was very friendly, casual but professional and attentive. She gave good insights into the menu, asked the right questions about our tastes, and made great recommendations. Food was very good ... I had the Jambalaya and my wife the Chicken. While entrees were good, the vegetables (Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer and Collards) were outstanding. Good selection of bourbons and a decent wine list but the "wine by the glass" selections was too limited and should be enhanced."

  • "We came as a family to celebrate our last night together in Atlanta and we were not disappointed! The portions were a good size and felt to be good value for money. Everything tasted excellent, especially the fried green tomatoes and the chicken. Our server was friendly and attentive. She easily accommodated our requests and even split two entrees (when two of us wanted to share). Definitely on our "Let's eat here again!" list."

  • "We had a great experience at the South City Kitchen. The service was exceptional, the food came out quickly and it was tasty. We ordered the Fried Chicken and it was possibly the best fried chicken I have had hands down. The pulled pork appetizer was delicious as well. We look forward to dinning here again."

  • "Amazing food and the chief paid special attention to detail. Definitely coming back to this Vinings location."

  • "restaurant was too noisy. You could not hear at all. Food was good not great and my scallops dish look like a big appetizer rather than a main dish. It also looked very bland."

  • "Wonderful gem. Upscale southern food. Nice beverage options with interesting cocktails and craft beers."

  • "South City Kitchen is truly fabulous! On March 1st we were able to enjoy their special Mardi Gras menu... I think we ordered half of the items! All very delicious! And I must comment on the Spicy Pear Martini... just keep 'em coming! :-) We will return soon!!"

  • "Used to be one of my favorite places in town. I took my boss there for dinner and was disappointed. Service was spotty at best. I had to hunt the waiter down for the check."
    Dined on 3/3/2014
  • "I took my wife and family members to SCK for her birthday and they treated us very well. They had a special menu for Mardi Gras that was a welcome addition to their current menu. I had the crab and apple beignets and the trout. Both were amazing and the fish was a very large portion, enough for two people to share. My wife had the she crab soup and the shrimp and grits. We always get those and they never disappoint. The restaurant brought her a banana pudding for dessert which was surprisingly good."

  • "Have been to South City Kitchen Vinings twice now this month, feel like we unearthed a gem. Each time was wonderful. First of all the staff and management are extremely professional and friendly. You are made to feel very welcome and that each person you encounter appreciates your business. Service is outstanding, and you can relax take a load off and enjoy the ambience. To top it all off the food is amazing. Try the Gouda Fritters; they are out of this world. Big South Kitchen Vinings has made a regular out of me."

  • "My wife and I have eaten there several times in the past. The service was fantastic! Everyone was very friendly and attentitive. Love the food! Atmosphere is energetic, although no trouble having a conversation. Adore the Guda Fritters and our Bread Pudding desert was so good. We thought we were couldn't eat another bite, but ordered desert anyway, and devoured it. We will definately return again."

  • "The food at South City Kitchen was excellent. However, it simply too way too long for our orders to be taken and our food to arrive. Our reservation was for 1pm. Our waiter was so slow to take our drink orders and bring our drinks that we didn't order our food until almost 2pm. Our table ordered six orders of chicken and waffles and one shrimp and grits. It took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. All in all, we were there over two hours. We had two small children and a disabled elderly woman with us and we would have preferred to only spend one hour eating brunch. I loved the good, but I'm not sure if I will go back because of the terribly slow service."

  • "Food bank solicitation by wait staff. Main item on plate was highly seasoned, yet still tasteless. Don't know how they accomplished that. I tried both fish and Cajun mixture."
