Dine on local specialties such as shrimp and grits, buttermilk fried chicken, she-crab soup, fried green tomatoes and banana pudding while enjoying the view of our exhibition kitchen or the Atlanta skyline on one of the best patios in the city. I would like to say that our experience would be remembered because of the food, but what I will remember is the fact that my friends and I had to shout at each other all night to try to be heard."

  • "I have been here many times and love all of their food, especially the Shrimp and Grits and Buttermilk Fried Chicken. On this visit I tried the Catfish Reuben. It is a little messy to eat, but one of the best sandwiches I have had. The catfish had almost a soft shelled crab type light texture with a good crunch. The horseradish slaw with thousand island remoulade was a perfect compliment that did not overpower the mild catfish. The boisterous atmosphere is not conducive to a quiet personal conversation, but it is perfect for old friends/business associates hooking up for lunch."

  • "Our waitress rushed us from start to finish. It's not like we walked in right before they closed: We got there 845, were seated at 900, and they didn't close until 1000. I didn't say anything because I was on a date. Also, it was the loudest restaurant I have ever been to. Luckily we got a table on the porch, which was great. But the inside, which was probably 90% of the seats, it sounded like people were screaming. They had to design the restaurant like this on purpose. Noise reducing methods have been around for decades. The food was good to great, but there are other restaurants on Atlanta that are as good or better and have a much more pleasant dining experience. Prices were reasonable for this tier of restaurant."

  • "4 of us dined for Sunday brunch. Our group was a mix of carnivores and pescatarians. There was something to please everyone on the menu. Service and food were excellent. Parking is the only challenge. We parked in a pay lot off Crescent. Avoid the valet parking (they are independent and not related to the restaurant) they left a significant horizontal scratch on my car and refused to take responsibility. South City is consistently a great dining choice."

  • "Perhaps I should not expect more from "gourmet southern food". What can be done to transform fried chicken from a rural southern diner into gourmet status? Apparently, not much. South City Kitchen places their fried chicken on top of mashed potatoes and greens, a transition in placement that must elevate the lowly fried chicken to gourmet status. Unfortunately, rearrangement on the plate does not elevate the taste of the food. The chicken was moist, but bland, and not worth the gourmet price."

  • "The trip to South City Kitchen was good. This is my second time here, once for dinner and this time for lunch. The dinner selection was a little better than lunch but I still enjoye the food. It was cooked well and my party all enjoyed their food. Will be coming here again as I live 2 blocks away and can walk there. Thanks South City!"

  • "My girlfriend and I have lived in Atlanta for about a year now and are still getting around to all the little restaurant gems in the city. This is one of them. It was Sunday at noon when I walked in and I was a little surprised by the guest semi-formal attire at a table by the door. Luckily, it wasn't that way everywhere in the restaurant. We sat upstairs with an awesome view of the floor below. I love that this place feels like a house. My girlfriend ordered the chicken and waffles, a combination she has never had before, and she loved it. I had the crab eggs Benedict and loved it as well. I gave South City Kitchen Midtown five stars and they earned it."

If possible, this restaurant has even gotten better. From the moment we sat down our waiter was attentive and friendly. We of course, went with the waiters suggestions, (and a few of of own favorites) and had an awesome meal. The wine, food, and dessert were superb. I don't think you can ask for more from a restaurant, and South City Kitchen is a must for anyone living, visiting, or just passing through Atlanta."

  • "I was in a party of three and we all ordered different beverages, starters, and entrees. All were fantastic. On a whim I tried the Braised Beets Salad because, well honestly I couldn't imagine what the combination of ingredients would be like. VERY tasty, and this from some one who rarely eats beets. If as you read the menu, you can't decide what to order - ask your server or just close your eyes and point. There are many great options."

  • "Was very excited about going since this was highly rated on Trip Advisor - #4 in all Atlanta. We were a little disappointed by some of the food. It was okay -- not great. My husband ordered the famous fried chicken - he LOVED it. I ordered the duck - it was okay not great. We had the fried green tomatoes and chicken livers for appetizers. Both were just okay. The tomatoes needed more goat cheese - you could barely taste that they had any."

  • "We had two couples in our group, reserved our table through OpenTable, arrived at the restaurant and were taken right away to our table. We savored the Yalumba red & white blend- excellent. The portions of each course were absolutely perfect in size. Two starters were just right for two couples. Then we each ordered a dish and shared. Fried catfish, fried chicken and shrimp/grits were all truly outstanding. A wonderful dining experience!"

Our server, Britney, was fantastic, as was the food. I had the Shrimp & Grits, which were spectacular -- and this comes from someone who orders shrimp and grits whenever I see it on a menu.   • "Everything about this place is amazing! The restaurant is in an old house which is unique. The service we received was incredible. The food is to die for! If you want high quality southern comfort food, this is the place to go! The fried green tomatoes are the best I have EVER had. The fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and shrimp and grits are all stellar! I would highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "I've dined here several times before, in small groups and large, so decided to take a friend from out of town for dinner. Good service and it was a full restaurant even on a Monday night. Yes, the noise level was "energetic" which means too loud. We could hardly converse, seated upstairs at a table for two next to a window and near two large groups. The food was delicious -- I had she-crab soup, fried green tomatoes and asparagus succotash. My friend had the specialty fried chicken dinner. We shared the pineapple upside down cake with coconut ice cream. Our cocktails were the Honey Bee. Great service, good location, wonderful food, wish the acoustics were better."
