  • "Great night out at South City Kitchen. The server was very attentive, friendly, and ready with full descriptions of menu items and recommendations. We had a full meal sampling from every menu. Fried Green Tomatoes, Mussels, She-Crab Soup, Baby Beet Salad, Fried Chicken, Duck Breast, Pineapple Upside-down cake. For the highlights the Fried Chicken certainly lived up to the billing and the baby beet salad was a delicious work of art. The duck wasn't one of our favorites but was still good in its own right. All of the other items listed above were delicious. We also took advantage of the specialty cocktails, good times had by all."

  • "We were in town for just one night for a college tour at Georgia Tech and picked this restaurant based on location and the other reviews. The food was excellent, the drinks were terrific and our waitress was great. Both my husband and I tried their fried chicken. It was delicious. I had the summer peach salad and my husband had the she crab soup. Being from Baltimore, we are always a bit leary to try crab dishes elsewhere because many places just don't do it justice. The soup, however was wonderful. We would definitely return if we are ever in Atlanta again."

  • "My mom, sister, great-aunt, and I had brunch here on Saturday morning. We decided to sit indoors, but due to the noise level inside, it may have been better to sit outside. My great-aunt, who is elderly, had difficulty hearing the conversation throughout the meal. The restaurant was busy for Saturday morning brunch, and that's certainly not a bad thing! I enjoyed the fried green tomatoes appetizer, pecan waffle entree, and fried okra side. I tasted my great-aunt's tomato soup, which was delicious, and I also tasted some of the items on my sister's vegetable plate -- the field peas were very good! I would recommend South City Kitchen, but I wish that there were a parking option where patrons could have their tickets validated."

  • "South City Kitchen was a chance discovery, but will forever be at the top of the list for Atlanta. The food was wonderful, but the service makes the place shine. It is obvious that the restaurant and the staff care deeply about crafting a wonderful experience for each table. Our waitress was incredibly knowledgable about both the food and the wine list, and made spot-on recommendations that were not anywhere close to the most expensive things on the menu. Next time we're getting dessert!"

  • "Restaurant outdoor seating is not ideal and was seated in front of the water station, outside has an odor that is unfortunate for the restaurant, would definitely not recommend sitting outside. The food did not live up to the hype, the goat cheese fried green tomatoes - were burnt and they served it with a broken one on top. The Chicken was well done and not much chicken just batter, the famous fresh peach salad was over dressed and had two peach slices. The front of the house seemed put out and the chairs outside are so close you cannot get in and out and disturb the guests behind you, they even go so far as to say how you have to maneuver your chair to get in and out and then seem irritated if you get it wrong."

So good that we went back on the last night of our two week tour of The Southern States, after eating there on the very first night.. Everything about it was brilliant from the friendly service to the great food and good wine list. Views of colorful local scenes and central location. I could not recommend it highly enough."

Our standard order includes she-crab soup, but it was inedible because of over-salting; our sandwich choice - Crab Cake BLT . . sounded lovely, even at $19, however, the bacon was raw, bread tough, and a crab cake that could fit on half the sandwich . . . disappointing. Lemonade delicious! Service wonderful, as always. However, overall, a disappointing experience."

  • "I rotate between the Midtown and the Vinings location. This meal was in Midtown. Food and service were outstanding for brunch. South City clings to our southern roots, and what better way than through fried chicken. If there's consistently better fried chicken in Atlanta, I don't know where it is. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for ambience is that it was ear-splittingly loud. We had trouble carrying on a conversation it was so loud. South City is known as a popular spot for celebrities, probably because of the close proximity to the Four Seasons Hotel and because it truly is good, southern cuisine."

  • "We had a concert to attend so I notified OpenTable and we were seated right away. Tyler was our server and was very attentive. The Fried Green Tomato appetizer with tomato/basil sauce was delicious. My husband had the Tennessee Catfish and I had the Shrimp and Grits. Both were phenomenal! The only complaint we had was the noise level. We sat at a cute little table all to ourselves, but could not hear each other talk. It seems that there must not be an insulation in the walls to accommodate the people in the rooms. We were seated upstairs and it seemed that all the noise from downstairs filtered up to us along with all the noise on the second. Loved the food, but don't think we will be back unless we are seated outside to eat."

However this last time was outstanding The service seemed better than before, the food was superb and the portions were perfect, not too much and not too little. I did not leave the restaurant stuffed just extremely satisfied. From the pre-dinner drinks toO the main course, I along with my guests were completely content and ready to enjoy the concert at Symphony Hall. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone going to a play or concert at the Alliance Theater!!"

When it comes to pairing Southern cuisine and Sunday Brunch, there's no doubt that South City Kitchen in Midtown can compete with the best of 'em. Boasting so many Southern favorites like Fried Green Tomatoes, Pimento Cheese, Fried Chicken, Eggs Benedict, and of course - Chicken and Waffles, one can definitely find an excellent brunch in line with their tastes. Definitely try one of the Benedicts or the Chicken and Waffles. The service was good, the prices were reasonable and I left happy and stuffed."

  • "From start to finish the restaurant was very accommodating. Within 2 hours of our Sat. night reservation Chris pulled some strings to allow us to seat 7 instead of 4 which was a great help to us. Server was attentive and knowledgeable, and despite the very loud surroundings we enjoyed ourselves. It was a bit cramped with people around the bar but we made do. The food was phenomenal. The main portions looked a bit small for the price but our small plates were excellent. Pork, crab and fried green tomato apps were delicious and the salads and scallops were very flavorful. The lobster mac was to die for, it was so creamy inside with a buttery crunchy crust. Definitely recommend, although parking is a hassle, especially with an event nearby."

  • "Six of us went here for lunch after an outing at The High. The restaurant had failed to review our reservation requests for seating and thus we were seated on the main level. When the hostess realized this they were very apologetic and went out of their way to be accommodating and responsive. There were few options for seating for 6 people and were we were seated it was so loud we could hardly hear ourselves talk. They moved us upstairs which improved the ability to have a conversation. The service was excellent, however the food was only adequate. I think the reputation exceeded our actual experience. In any event, it is not a place I would go out of my way for as none of us found it anything special."

We sat downstairs and it was very loud, almost shouting across the table to speak with another, this wasn't the greatest spot for a first date. Food was great, as usual. Service was ok.
