In fact, it may be better than mine...okay maybe. Also, since my confidence in the chef is established, I am trying new things. I had Foie Gras the other night.   • "Overall, the experience was ok. The ahi appetizer was good. The fried goat cheese was not very creative nor good, more like a big glob of goat cheese with honey. Took over 20 minutes for our appetizers to arrive and we were there for about an hour before our entrees arrived. Server felt the need to tell us the kitchen was "going down" so it might be a while. Service was ok, nothing bad but nothing spectacular. They did forget to bring my wife's glass of wine but it was on the bill when they brought, and they rightfully removed it. I had the $26 piece of Cobia....very underwhelming and over priced for the small portion if fish that it was. We didn't feel that we got $100 worth on what we spent and probably would not go back again."

  • "I have now been to S+Y several times and think it's great. Food is delicious (although small potions), great wine, service and desert. My only complaint would be the noise levels - it's very loud when the restaurant is full which makes it hard to talk. The space definitely needs noise dampening tiles. Fingers crossed that they come and this will be my favorite place!"

  • "Had heard that S+Y had started a fried chicken Tuesday, and just had to check it out. The chicken has a tasty crunch on the outside augmented by the chef's honey-chile sauce, which had just the right balance of heat and sweet. Inside, the chicken is moist and flavorful. The dinner included 3 pieces of chicken (mine was a wing, leg, and thigh), with sides of creamy yellow grits and bias cut fried okra. All in all, it was quite Yumaceous!"

  • "My husband and I had a very good experience at South + York. The food seemed very fresh and well prepared and presented. I had the daily wine special, a malbec, and enjoyed it. This restaurant is committed to using ingredients from local farms and vendors. All the beers are from Florida brewers. Definitely worth a try."

How awesome to have a farm to table restaurant in our area (anything to the east of Winter Park), no longer having to go to Winter Park or Orlando to get great, fresh, and creative offerrings from local owners/chefs who really care about satisfying their guests! Every time we have dined there the food and experience has been wonderful. We highly recommend the shrimp and grits, the goat cheese appetizer, and the eggs benedict. The owners and staff really go out of their way to make us feel at home in this layed back, but elegant place!"

  • "This was our second time dining at South & York. The shrimp appetizer was wonderful and spicy with the shrimp being perfectly grilled. We all ordered the seafood dishes. The Asian style grouper was new to the menu. The broth was perfect with some Japanese veggies and udon noodles! Very yummy. We are so glad to have this type of dining close to home. Our waiter, Spencer was friendly and always wanted to make sure we were happy with our selections and wine choices. We will be back again soon."

  • "Best food for miles around. Rolls were excellent. My fresh salmon was cooked perfectly, as was my companion's scallops. Spicy shrimp appetizer and salad with blue cheese and bacon dressing were both excellent. We had bread pudding and strawberry shortcake for dessert; both were very tasty."

  • "I DONT WANNA BE RIGHT! This place has won our hearts! The food is always amazing! It is creative and delicious. The staff and service always delightful. We were so impressed that they not only remembered our favorite table, but also our wine and beer choices from previous visits. Wow! We have several friends & family that have eaten here because of our recommendation, and they've all agreed that it is top notch! Thank you Mike (our server) for a great evening. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "I love this place. It is owned by a couple who are very nice and sweet. The menu has slight changes from day to day, depending on what it's available to the chef. Even the beers change!!!. I love this about South + York. Their tempura goat cheese balls with honey are to die for. The service is excellent. They're open for brunch also! I like the portions, not too big - just right. Glad to have this new gem in the neighborhood."

  • "My wife and I have been looking for a good excuse to try South + York since it opened. To start, our table we so wobbly that we were constantly worried about spilling drinks. I don't mind paying $25+ per entree, but it bugs me when I have to wrestle with the table to eat it. I ordered the braised shortrib with roasted potatoes and my wife had the pan roasted red snapper with white bean ragout and a green tomato oreo. The short rib was off the bone and was virtually indistinguishable from pot roast that we make at home and the potatoes were surprisingly tough to the point of being hard. The snapper was very bland with the green tomato oreo being very tasty and the best thing on the plate."

  • "Winter Springs be sure to support this place as we don't have many like it. Absolutely fantastic food and atmosphere. Service was a tad slow but we went on a Tuesday night and it appeared that the bartender was also the waiter. Food was amazing though!"

  • "The server could not have been nicer. However, needs some training to be a first rate dining experience. Keep the reds at the correct temp. If using a table side chiller, make sure the chiller has not been sitting at room temp! Serve a new bottle with a fresh glass- that's sort of 101 in wine etiquette. On to the food. Wonderful menu. We tried all the apps, each one was delicious! I ordered the chicken, it was superb- really! However, all four of us mentioned the sides were lukewarm. Obviously, someone knows how to cook. Really good food. When our server took our order, she asked if we wanted to order dessert... We asked if there was a reason to order dessert with our dinner and she replied, no, she just wondered!"

A friend of mine went to it and said she was very impressed. I went with my nieces and we really enjoyed our food. We also ordered 2 appetizers and really enjoyed those.   • "I'm in love with this place! The food is great and it's perfectly adorable. This is my first time on a Saturday night and it was busy so the service was slower than it should have been but I think that's the result of a new restaurant with inexperienced staff still working out the kinks. As long as you aren't in a hurry (and we weren't) it was no problem. Highly, highly recommend but might suggest considering a quieter night of the week."

  • "Very strange set up. Loud swinging door in middle of restaurant. Host stand in Back of restaurant. Service was very, very slow. Appetizers took 45 minutes and was awful. Entrees were mediocre but food was very expensive. I do not recommend!"

  • "This new restaurant will hopefully make it. It has high possibilities as the food is really good and the ambience is outstanding. Just a few new restaurant quirks to work out. Servers should know who gets what whether it is the appetizer, salad, or entree. Should not have to ask diners which meal they ordered. Please don't clear plates away until all diners have finished that particular course. It tends to rush those who have not finished. Ran out of bread so brought out store bought rolls which were not so great. Loved meeting one of the owners. She was knowledgable and engaging. Would really like a full bar so we could have cocktails before dinner but that won't stop us from coming. We will absolutely go back many times."

  • "We went to South and York for the first time on Valentines day and it was PERFECT. They had our reservation all set and seated us promptly. The server, Spencer, answered all the questions we had and suggested some amazing wine. The portions were perfect and the food was seasoned amazingly. We can not wait to go back again for another "date" night and try more of their amazing dishes."

  • "Great table in the corner and waiter was very friendly. Appetizers (scallops and white bean soup) were outstanding. Salads (arugula with strawberries and wedge/caesar) were perfectly executed. Entrees - found the lamb tough (no sharp knife given to cut it) and chicken piccata, ordered based on great reviews, was short on sauce and was like regular chicken breast not pounded out. Wine suggested was a good choice. We were given a comp glass of champagne when they thought the kitchen was getting behind and that was a very nice gesture. Will return!"

  • "Had a decent post-Valentines celebration here. Our meal was good. Not the best we've had in the area but it has great potential. The area where we had a problem was with the service. Our server was perfectly friendly and attentive to our needs, however at the ripe age of 19 he was unable to give any feedback on the wine selection and he seemed very uncomfortable conversating with us. He also had not tried very many items on the menu. A restaurant of this caliber should be allowing the waitstaff to taste each and every menu item so that they may give the guests an educated picture of what is served. I would give them one more try to redeem themselves but no more than that."

  • "The chef here is obviously very talented. We had the wedge salad and goat cheese tempura with honey, which were both excellent! We had the grouper and braised short rib for the main course. The fish was cooked to perfection and the short rib had an amazing aroma that tasted delicious. Everything that we ordered was great, but I must add that the bread service before the appetizer was pretty weak and basic. They should work on that. Hopefully this place will be around for a long time, we will definitely be back."

  • "South + York is very good, and it's nice to finally have an upscale restaurant in the Winter Springs-Oviedo area. The menu is a la carte and entrees range from about $15 to $30. The restaurant environment feels like something you'd experience in a more urban setting, and there is a small bar area too. The place is very comfortable and the owners and staff also made us feel at home. We'll definitely be back."

  • "Every plate was perfection. Each course was a mixture of textures and tastes that filled my senses. The reservation system was impeccable. On Valentine's Day no one who arrived with the reservation waited more than five minutes. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. A great time for sure!"

  • "So excited to have an amazing restaurant that is actually local! The food is delicious and the space is adorable. My new favorite spot. My only suggestion is better signage. I actually discovered this place after walking by it and when I went back for dinner, it took me a few minutes to spot it even knowing where it way. There is no signage towards the road which is a shame."

  • "It was a treat to dine at south & york. The grouper was one of the best pieces of fish I've had anywhere, served with corn and very fresh frisee dressed with truffle oil. The aromas were amazing. My guest had the white bean soup and said it was the only soup he ever wanted another portion. The strip steak was cooked perfectly with a red onion jam. The wine list is not extensive, but has interesting selections and is certainly adequate. Service was smooth, efficient and very friendly. South &y york is very welcome in this neighborhood of fast food and corporate restaurants."
