A word from Sosa Borella
Sosa Borella was established in 1995 in Tribeca. The first of two locations began as a quaint Italian-Argentinian Cafe that blossomed into a full service Restaurant, including lunch, dinner, brunch delivery service and off premise catering within two years of conception. Now, 12years later Sosa Borella expands its recipe for wholesome food, large portions and great dining atmosphere with a personal touch to the pallets of Manhattans' Theater District.

With Sosa's keen sense of design, the clean lines give Sosa Borella an inviting open airy feeling the moment you walk through the door, and yet the comfort and style of a cozy Argentinean Estancia, are seen through the white walls, exposed beams and cement color stucco on the columns, the custom made dark wood tables, the soft glow of lampshade chandeliers, wall stacked with coffee bags, wines and Argentinean memorabilia.

Have not eaten here for a few years. Remembered it as good value for the money. The prix-fixe is now $50. Three of us found the food to be just ok. My dish was dry and tough. Service was the best part of the experience. We will not be running back.

After reading the reviews on OpenTable we decided to try Sosa Borella for dinner as it was near our theater and Italian-Argentinian food sounded interesting. The restaurant has a rustic feel with no tablecloths, but in this case the décor looks and feels tired-not charming. It was half empty and had little energy. We ordered the steak which was a good sized portion, cooked medium rare as requested and well seasoned but unfortunately somewhat tough. The French fries that accompanied the steak were not crisp. My wife's mixed seafood dish was served over mussels which were overcooked and did not seem fresh. The calamari, shrimp and salmon were fine. In conclusion, there are several more attractive restaurants in the area with better food.

Nice sitting outside but not all that scenic - just buildings. Food o.k. - waiter thought we were crazy when we requested a sort of "house salad" to accompany a pizza instead of the crab or whatever else offerings. Fine for a quick bite, pizza or pasta dish but nothing out of the ordinary.

Unusual combination of Argentinian/Italian. Very nice grilled seafood dishes (the paralada is excellent) and good ceviche. Wash it down with some Argentinian wine. If the weather is nice ask for a table on the outdoor rear deck. Don't expect a lot of scenery back there, though. It's an enclosed courtyard. Good value. And, good pre-theater choice.

We were looking for a restaurant for dinner that was close to our theatre. We found Sosa Borella on line and thought we would try it. I have walked by this restaurant several times and never really noticed it. The food was great and the service excellent. We had a very nice relaxing dinner. We got there a little earlier than our reservation, but we were seated right away and were not rushed to leave. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an excellent dinner in a nice atmosphere.

My husband took me to this Argentinian/Italian restaurant for lunch when we were in NYC for the day. What a great meal! He had hanger steak, I had a steak sandwich and both were delicious. The place doesn't have much atmosphere—very bare bones—but the food is terrific. And it's an easy walk to the theater, if you're going to a matinee (as we were). Check it out!

The Bartender was great the waiter was good the food was good the host was a complete idiot. He did nothing to make us feel welcome. When I asked if we could get a table upstairs he said no then said yes then bought me upstairs to show me that there was no table with my party of five in tow???? We did have a reservation so he bought us back down stairs where there were several tables that could accommodate 5 people when I asked if we could sit in the corner he refused until I was adamant we had a 5:30 reservation and were asking to be seated at 5:40 after spending nearly $200 at the bar . Probably the worst Host I have ever experienced in all my years of dining out.

Really liked Sosa Borella. I went for a pre-show dinner with my adult daughter. It was also the day of one of the World Cup games. It is not a sports bar, small TVs over the bar but we picked a table so we could see it. the waiters were chatting up the game. Good service and very relaxed friendly atmosphere. We were downstairs and I liked that it had simple design, not stuffy midtown place. We spent a long time talking and we weren't rushed at all. I loved the food. Would definitely go back.

They had a limited wine list and had the audacity to charge $48 for a bottle of wine that retails for only $8.99. Charging over 5x times retail for wine is criminal. The small grilled calamari appetizer was good, but it was $18. The chicken milanese was dried out. The French Fries were OK. The roasted potatoes were terrible. It was just an overpriced restaurant with mediocre food that rips off the diners on the wine. I would never return there. The owner was nice, but I won't return to any restaurant that charges over 5x retail for wine. Skip this place.

Sosa Borella has a charming ambience in the upstairs, and there is an option to eat on a small patio outside on the 2nd floor - but we were warned it would be at our own risk as birds fly over head. The mussels were fantastic, and the cocktails were nice. A good selection on the menu and the option for pre-fix. Perfect location if going out to eat before a show. Server's however did forget to bring some of our order, had to be reminded on two occassions for two different items.

Food was all good - not spectacular but much better than you'll get in other Times Square area restaurants. Ambiance is nice - relatively quiet, enough off the more touristy areas of Times Square to avoid that kind of crowd. Price was decent - came out to about $30/person for entrees, one bottle of wine, and a few appetizers. A little more than the food is worth, but certainly what you'd expect to pay in the area. Service - this was the only downside. Everyone was very nice and accommodating but VERY slow. We probably waited at least 20 minutes just to place our order. We weren't in a rush at all, but it's still disconcerting to have no waiter contact for such long stretches. Overall - a good choice for Times Square.

Normally Sosa Borella knocks it out of the park, but I'd never been on a Sunday evening before and maybe without the theater crowd they let things slide a little. The service was slow and the food was not up to par. I haven't given up on them, but I'll think twice about a Sunday night dinner spot.
