I had the Salmon with lump crab meat and lobster risotto and my wife the Filet Mignon with Lobster Tail and Gnocchi. After trying several places, we have settled onto Sorrento. For starters: must haves are the Burrata Mozzarella when on special (otherwise the Caprese is fantastic) and the Wild Mushroom Risotto (made tableside). Everything is a right choice for the entree, for fish I always go with the Sea Bass, my wife the Salmon - - both perfecto!. I often go with one of the Veal or Lamb options. All exceptional. Great ambiance, very attentive service. Plan on a cordial of Lemoncello to put a wrapper on a great dining experience.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Consistently DeliversThis is about the 6th visit to Sorrento's Italian Restorante for dinner and every time they consistently deliver superior food, exceptional service (Sergio is awesome) and a relaxing environment. Family dropped in unexpectedly from out of town and immediately thought to take them to Sorrento's for great conversation, great food and NO dishes to clean up! This night we enjoyed the halibut, salmon and ahi tuna. All three dishes were cooked to perfection, well presented and, delivered timely - even though it was prime time on a Saturday night. The service is impeccable; the décor is classy, sophisticated. The piano players are fantastic and make the ambiance romantic and subtle but with a splash of spice. But the best of Sorrento’s is the food. Every single dish is prepared with perfection. The portions are the right size, the flavor is divine and the presentation of every dish seems like a small piece of art. The specials are always a wonderful choice. The decor is charming, the service was excellent and every dish we had was delicious! There was considerable moving of tables and chairs near my table. We (a table of 4) did have a reservation, but had to wait for our table.
In regards to this, the wait staff and manager did apologize with sincerity. I can not say enough good about this resturant. When we arrived, it was like we were expected with anticipation. Our table was as requested, very romantic and the flowers were on the table. The servers were outstanding. They were there when needed but did not hover. The food was to die for. The appitiser was delicious and unique. My veal chop was the best I have ever had. Fork tender but cooked medium as I asked. The desert was on the house because we were celebrating my birthday and it was excellent. The live piano in the background rounded out one of the finest meals I have ever had. The noise level is very low. The live piano players adds the finishing touch. The wait staff provide exceptional service. Very well paced and relaxed. This is complemented by excellent food. As well as the food being excellent, the presentation is great. There is a very broad wine list to suit all tastes. The sommelier recommended the perfect wine for our dinners. The food was good to very good, but not up to their usual "excellent" rating. We went for the early bird seating, and felt rushed through dinner. Some of the dishes were not served as warm as they should have been, which resulted in the flavors not truly coming through properly. I mentioned this to our server, who told the manager, who apologized profusely, and then offered a pair of complimentary after-dinner limoncellos. My wife opted for a coffee instead, and I took a grappa instead, so we were very satisfied. The wait staff was courteous, friendly and attentive and immediately intervened when one filet steak that had been ordered "medium" came to the table "well done"-- that item was replaced and the charge removed from the bill. Entrees ordered by other guests were mainly superb, although one guest noted that her sea bass was somewhat over-salted. As always, Sorrento's wine selection is both diverse and excellent, and the desserts were properly decadent.
