Diner Reviews
  • "Our first dining experience at Sorrento was a wonderful, luxurious, authentic meal. The menu had plentiful choices, the piano music was relaxing and the food was delicious. Ou waiter entertained us with his stories of growing up in Rome. This is not an ordinary, run of the mill, Italian restaurant. There is a private room that I am going to try to reserve for my birthday."

  • "We have always loved to visit Sorrento's for their wine list and wonderful food. This was a special visit for my husbands Birthday. The manager Trey let us know that their was a parade the night of our reservation & the street would be closing and let us know of alternate routes & valet parking. Our waiter Diego was wonderful with his recommendations and attention and service. It was a wonderful evening as always."

  • "GREAT restaurant. Food is absolutely outstanding. The service is also outstanding. Great entertainment - a wonderful piano player which is a great addition to the atmosphere. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Wonderfully friendly place - from the valets to the waitstaff - with a very varied, top class menu. The quality of the food was extremely high and evrything we ordered surpassed our expectations. We celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday at Sorrento's and they surprised her (and us!) with a complimentary dessert and candle as the excellent pianist played the birthday song - unforgettable evening!"

  • "Sorrento's is our #1 favorite restaurant. On our last visit I had the chilean sea bass, and it was out of this world. Cooked perfectly. My husband usually has the lasagna which he loves. The service is always the best, and Trey the manager watches over and checks on everything to make sure all is in order. Wonderful live piano music (not too loud), and the restaurant itself is beautiful. We love this place, always have a great dining experience, and just enjoy being there!"

  • "For our 1st visit I chose Sorrento for my birthday dinner with family discovering it on OpenTable. We were delighted to be seated in the lovely "wine room" with a bit more privacy & I cannot say enough about this place! We started at the bar waiting for all to arrive & enjoyed delicious martinis with the delightful bartender. The food was simply incredible, the wine list wonderful and the service impeccable! The 6 of us had different entrees & shared bites-every single dish was to die for! We also enjoyed a couple of the appetizer specials & they were fabulous too! They had a number of evening specials-appetizers & entrees. They brought me a complimentary double chocolate cake, we ordered others & they were SO good! Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Went for Sunday Brunch - Fathers' Day, special menu - I prefer the regular menu. My husband's scallops were excellent, my sea bass left some to be desired, not the best for the price. I had asked if the sea bass was moist and had been assured that it was, but not so. We love Sorrento and will return, but not on a "Special Menu" Day."

  • "We went there for the Father's Day brunch and loved it. We have been many times and it is definitely one of our favorites. Excellent food and excellent service. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and my husband had the Osso Bucco...both were amazing. Dessert was delicious too"

  • "8 Years ago my current husband and I went here for our first date. We fell in love here and now 8 years later we are splitting. We went back as part of our closure and it was wonderful. Just as great as it was 8 years ago. Wonderful place"

  • "In entertaining a guest from France we wanted to have her experience a taste of Italy from what we considered the top of the line restaurant in Houston. We arrived on a Sunday which was, fortunately, a less crowded time. From the get-go, with the huge bread basket which was brought to our table for a selection from 6/7 choices. to the exquisit Yentrees (each person (3) had something different) right on thru to the dessert and coffee it was like a magical moment in an eating experience. This jewel of a restaurant gets our accolades."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our first anniversary there. Abbas, Pedro and the staff, as always, were fantastic. Can't think of a better place to have a great meal. Don't miss the poached egg ravioli!"

  • "Our favorite Houston restaurant but Saturday the service unusually slow due to large crowd."

  • "This was our first time to Sorrento's. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary in Houston and had gone to a Broadway play. We got all dressed up for the show and then wanted to find a nice place for dinner that would be romantic and classy. We had people pulling out our chairs for us, placing napkins on our laps. The service was outstanding and very classy! The wine was reasonably priced and the food was DELICIOUS! (Note: it does get pretty expensive, but, was worth it). They also provided my wife and I a really classy and super yummy dessert to help us celebrate our anniversary. I have NO complaints about this place (well, maybe the check amount... but that's really my fault.... it was GOOD food!). Highly Recommend!"

  • "We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Sorrento's. The service was impeccable from the time we were greeted at the door to the time we left. My husband particularly enjoyed his tuna special. The chocolate cake alone was worth the drive."

  • "We celebrated our 1st anniversary there and it was wonderful. Veal medallions were to die for, and they gave us a lovely desert to top off our celebration. We also love that this is one of the few places in town you can hear a wonderful piano player doing the classics. The perfect back drop. "

  • "We have enjoyed Sorrento each time we've eaten there. It was especially fun to take our moms to celebrate Mother's Day with a special dinner. The Risotto carved out of the gigantic Parmesan wheel is a show-stopper..and SO delicious. Everyone enjoyed their appetizer, entree and dessert. Each course was perfect. And the Prosecco was fabulous! Highly recommend!"

  • "We planned our anniverary dinner here. This was our first visit and had heard nice things. The food was good, but the service was not. It was fustrating to watch other tables (seemed to be regulars) come and go yet we were there over two hours for dinner. And we had to ask for water! WE expected better from a place like this."

  • "Been there twice and the food and and ambience were outstanding. Loved the bread basket! The house Super Tusc was perfect. Service...better than excellent. My new, special little Houston restaurant! My friends and family were impressed."

  • "We were seated in a corner between the patio and front entrance. Lots of traffic, some bumping into chairs. Service was attentive, but felt kind of rushed. Food was good, but not outstanding. We all had specials, but did not have any pasta dishes. Lots of bread choices. Mushroom risotto just okay. Beet salad was light on beets. Fish was fresh and tasty. Extensive wine list. Would try it again."

  • "Westheimer in Houston is a street that is home to several upscale dinning chains and local favorites. None compares to the Italian influenced Sorrento's. From the moment you are greeted at the front door to the last wave of wait staff to assist you with your dinning experience the service is fantastic. The pure joy preparing your meal, the pride in the quality of offering, reflects nothing but passion. Their passion for food drives them to prepare 4 to 5 Freshly baked breads to choose from, seasonal salads, dinner specials, Fresh Fish choices, every night! Wether you choose classic Italian heritage dishes with hand crafted care, or newly created dishes with the freshest ingredients. A must dine place each time we are in Houston"

  • "My daughter and I sat down for dinner at 7:30pm Friday evening. The restaurant was at approximately 70% capacity. We were given water and bread, then ignored for the next 20 minutes. At that point I booked another opentable reservation at Damian's down the street. Only when we stood up to leave did our server reappear looking confused as to why we were walking out. As we retrieved our car from the profusely apologizing valet, my 7 year-old chimes in, "they should rename this place 'Horrible Service, Please Leave.'" Exactly. "

  • "My boyfriend and I went there for his birthday and to celebrate a promotion. We both wanted to find a restaurant neither of us have been to and something romantic, that's when a friend recommended Sorrentos. As soon as we arrived we were greeted and sat down promptly. The piano was playing, wonderful crowd, we sat off in the covered patio room and enjoyed the ambiance and great customer service. To top it off the wine, food and dessert was spectacular...DEFINITELY recommend Sorrentos, we will be back."
