Sorrel Urban Bistrohit or miss or hitLast time - a miss. Today - hit. Great food. Great waiter. Horrible weather...but we won't count that against them. In fact, it was not as crowded because of it - so all in all another positive. Had the beef tenderloin and boy was it tender. The beignets were a nice touch - not as good as New Orleans - but ok. The jam made them unique.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMfantastic!Had a great night...good food and excellent service! Will be back for sure!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA bit more expensive than expectedBut fresh food is worth paying for! Cocktails were delicious and portions were great!!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat lunch spotI met two friends for lunch. The salads were excellent, and the added chicken was especially delicious. While the noise level was a bit loud, we were able to converse comfortably. I have now had dinner, lunch, and brunch here, and the food is always fresh, interesting, and delicious!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent ExperienceThe food was outstandinding. The pace of service was perfect. Every time we dine here there is never a disappointment in the food or service. The manager always makes a point of greeting us and checking to make sure we are satisfied. It is always a great experience. Highly recommend this restaurant.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA very good brunch. I willA very good brunch. I will go back for dinner sometime. The chicken I had was prepared to perfection. I was not a fan of the spices on it however. My wife said it was good so it was most likely just how I was tasting things. My wife's fish (Cobia) tasted great.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb foodWith reservation we did not have to wait for our table.
All personnel was attentive and informed. The table had a tablecloth and the seats were cushioned (a sign they care for their customers). The sound level was vibrant, but permitted talking. The menu was short and excellent. The quality of the food was impeccable and so were the cocktails. The kitchen is exposed to the customers, adding a certain quality of friendliness to the already positive atmosphere. Only negative comment is the time between courses was somewhat brief.
The valet parking is complimentary. Highly recommend this restaurant.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFamily favoriteSorrel is always fun because it is always changing. Food was basically very good except for over cooking of a steak. Service is always good.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful foodWe enjoyed the food and wine pairings very much, and the service was certainly above average. My only slight quibble is that the tables are small and close together. Not enough to put us off though - we will go back and recommend it to friends.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious entrees, deliciousDelicious entrees, delicious and creative preparation. Locally sourced and remarkably fresh. We have found our Houston favorite!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWoW! The perfect dinner. (for 2)Seared Foie Gras w/ sweet potato puree, maple drizzle (my description) AWESOME!
Endive Salad w/ dragon beans...the perfect entre act.
Sweetbreads the best I have ever eaten.
Grouper...fresh and simple
and the Goat cheese grits were unbelievable!!
Perfect Birthday Dinner.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ServiceOur service was excellent. The waiter knew how to be at our table and provide great service without crossing the line and being a pest. He was very good.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodI think Sorrel has great food and healthy selections. The waitstaff is friendly and accommodating. The wine list is moderately expensive and it would be nice to see some lower prices. Overall, it's one of the best restaurants in Houston.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellant andThe food was excellant and even though it was very busy since it was Mother's Day, the wait staff went out of their way to make sure we were all happy, they even brought my granddaughter a different entree when she wasn't pleased with her first choice.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative dishes and presentationWe took a business contact from Australia there for brunch, it was Mother's Day and they had a special menu. We sat outside as the weather was nice. We each had an appetizer and main and shared a dessert, wine choices were a good assortment and nicely priced. The only small negative was the service which may have been a bit off because of the busy day but each time a course was served another server swooped in to remove one dish and take it to a different table! Made us laugh as it reminded me of Faulty Towers. Our client insisted on treating us and paid, my wife explained tipping protocol here. Later on my wife commented how good lunch was and so inexpensive. I did the math and realized they never ran our bar tab for the wine. Ooops!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service and differentExcellent service and different and very good menu.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWONDERFUL!Simply wonderful! The meal, the service - it made our date night VERY special.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNew for us but we'll be back !We really enjoyed our evening at Sorrel. My wife & I had a 6pm reservation on a Saturday evening. We had a quick drink at the bar to check-out the craft cocktail offerings and while the list wasn't as extensive as some places in town, there were plenty of interesting choices. We moved to the table and were seated at one of 4-5 tables that are situated right along the server's alley with a full-on view into the kitchen - awesome ! They were serving 2 of my all-time favorite things - squash blossoms and sweetbreads so my choices were easy. Both were excellent and perfectly-sized. My wife had foie gras to start and the filet mignon. Again, both were very nice in presentation and taste. We'll be back to explore more of this menu.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat birthday lunchWe took our family for a Saturday lunch to celebrate our son's birthday. We also had our 4 year old grandson with us. The waiter was wonderful with our grandson and even came out to say goodbye to him after lunch. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The fried oysters were fabulous, and the complimentary dessert they brought our son with a candle was an absolutely delicious berry shortbread. We had only been there for dinner before which has always been delicious. Lunch was more laid-back and quieter, and we enjoyed a relaxed, delicious lunch..5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA Truly Excellent MealWith its twice-daily changing menu and phenomenal cuisine, Sorrel UB is a destination any foodie in Houston should add to their list of regular haunts. We enjoyed a great lunch and excellent service... The food is great, the wine selection very good and fairly priced. A most enjoyable spot. A major plus for us is that there is no valet parking. I can't wait to return and see what is their rotating menu!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWait staff was top notch withoutWait staff was top notch without being the least intrusive4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were practically the onlyWe were practically the only people in the restaurant, so did get great service. However, I ordered their house salad, & it was so full of only one "Gag-inducing" green, which was quite hard to swallow, so I had to send it back. Now really, that's a bit unacceptable. However, my entre was very good, & seasoned well, as was the person's dining with me. I'm impressed with the freshness of their ingredients.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is the tops locallyOne of the top places in the city, Soren's kitchen is fabulous, and my only wish is that they had a little more room.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOur third time in year andOur third time in year and we really like it here.
