A word from Sorella
Sorella is the "sister" conceived on a journey throughout Northern Italy. We found a love for Piedmont's cafe culture that insisted we bring the feeling back to New York. The small villages and cities of Piedmont were the only places in the world we found that we loved even remotely as much as we
Sorella is our family. We are connected not by blood, but by a mutual love for tasty food and wine. Artisanal products of every sort have a permanent place in our cozy, sparkly lower east side home. We built our home on memories, inside jokes, and as much friggin wine paraphernalia as possible. We thrive to make every client a member of our little family...

Incredible experience! Great staff
and the food was out of this world amazing. Smaller portions, but all in all A+"

I savored every bite! It's truly
one of a very places where every bite just hits you like WOW!"

excellent food and service - decor
could use updating with attention to noise limiting materials - the dining room is small and noisy"

This was our third group visit to
Sorella. As part of a university trip we have been as a group of 7 each of the past three years with a slightly different line up but each and everyone of us considers it the most memorable meal each time. The food itself is fantastic - I think between us we tried most things on the menu. Great choice of cocktails and wine and knowledgeable staff who make recommendations with a personal touch. Nothing disappoints from appetizers to wide range of desserts and gelato. Everything about this place is just perfect and done in a stylish, classy way. The food alone is standout but add great service and ambience. I would recommend this place to anyone!"

The atmosphere of this place was
depressing and it looks like someone cleaned out their garage, but kept the old tables and chairs. The food was lousy and worst of all, the service was aloof and pretentious and had major attitudes. No wonder it was empty on a Friday night."

Came here with my parents the
night before the NYC half marathon - solely because they had Brussel sprouts with bacon and apple on the menu. And while I loved the Brussel sprouts - the rest of the menu didn't disappoint either. Our waitress gave us great recommendations as well. I had read beforehand that the portions were small - I didn't find that to be an issue though. They were just the right portions so everybody was full but still had room for dessert."

Invariably excellent pasta and the
broccoli fritto continues to hit the proverbial spot. Unassuming, relaxed, and dependable, this is becoming one of my high-end comfort food go-tos."
Dined on 3/8/2014
Our table was a little small - but
so were the delightful portion sizes. We shared a few small plates and it was more than enough to fill us up. I highly recommend the Pici - it was so scrumptious we almost ordered a second portion but decided to save room for dessert. And we were SO glad we did. The tiramisu was more like an ice cream sandwich with their homemade gelato - it was light, and tasty. Our waitress did tend to linger a little bit and frequented the table a little too much... but her personality was upbeat, she was very friendly, and she was very knowledgable about everything on the menu and wine list. So overall we would say the service was exceptional as well."

Hidden on a gritty block of the
Lower East Side, this polish gem of an Italian restaurant offers delicious, imaginative Italian food, a lovely ambiance and attentive service. I'd go again in a minute!"
Dined on 2/26/2014
Everything about our experience at
Sorella was amazing. The service impeccable, atmosphere fun and charming, and then there is the food. We were a party of 5 so were able to taste a number of the unique appetizers and a few sides before we had the pasta. Until now I never had a broccoli dish I liked. The grilled quail and veal tongue appetizers were amazing (they all were really). Then there is the pasta: the agnolotti melted in your mouth and the lamb Ragusa was outstanding. Molly is one of the top young chefs in the city!"

The front of the restaurant, the
decor, the menu, the wine list-- all pared-down offerings of quality over quantity. The Piedmontese food and wine are comforting and unusual in equal measure. Service is friendly and low-key, but thorough. Our table of 4 ordered 3 "qualcosine", 4 pasta dishes and a side of Brussels sprouts-- the perfect amount of food, and every bite was delicious."

A lovely taste of Italy hidden off
of a rough street on the LES. A great place to relax after art gallery hopping at the new spots in this neighborhood. The food was complex and delicious and our waitress was instructive and unobtrusive. Delightful eating experience - and the chefs have a cookbook!"
Dined on 2/23/2014
The food, the lighting, the wine:
all perfect. The service, a little off. No big deal. Next time we will get a meat and cheese plate and sit up front in the bar area for a casual night out."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Definitely try the broccoli
appetizer, kale salad, veal crudo, and the tajarin pasta!"
Dined on 2/7/2014
There was nothing about the
quality of our food to complain about, fresh and tasty. Place was packed, drawing a very colorful local crowd. Service could use some work."

Food and ambience were good but
the overall experience wasn’t. At 8 on a Saturday evening in a nearly empty restaurant we were told that there was only one lamb shank left (fish and vegetarian pasta were other two mains). Over the next two hours we heard groans and moans from customers as they were told there was no more lamb and that if they really wanted a meat dish they could order a pasta dish with a meat sauce. What restaurant runs out of one of its mains before the evening has barely begun? We also ordered different wines by the glass to go with each course; although each course arrived at its appointed time the wine didn’t; we waited impatiently for our waitress, flagged down the water server, etc., before receiving our wine."

This place was great and our
server, Lindsay, was one of the best we've ever had, anywhere. The fried broccoli is a must, as everyone says."
Dined on 1/10/2014
Couple of times, I had a dinner
since they opened. But, I was disappointed of their salty appetizers at this time. I think it should be bit less salt for some appetizers. Otherwise, they will kill the each ingredient's taste and balance as my opinon."
Dined on 12/29/2013
The food quality and flavor
combinations are amazing. The servers are always very knowledgable and go above and beyond. The wine list has a beautiful selection that pair perfectly with the menu. Save room for dessert because the homemade gelato is out of this world. If you ever want to impress someone bring them here."

We absolutely loved the food,
service and atmosphere here! A real gem!"
Dined on 12/28/2013
Food very good. Service excellent.
Especially recommend any of the side dishes."
Dined on 12/27/2013
The food, service and ambiance
were excellent however they could be more generous with portions."
Dined on 12/8/2013
The fried broccoli is not to be
missed! But everything was fantastic and the service was superb."
Dined on 12/13/2013
The inside section is quiet and
the outside section with bar is more lively. Small restaurant but still enough space for each table. The Panna Cotta is super delicious."

I work for an Italian company,
have been to Italy many times, and I can say with confidence that the food at Sorella is very good. I especially the fried broccolis for the appetizers. The portions here are a bit strange; they skew on the smaller side so I recommend ordering a bunch of appetizers and pasta dishes and sharing as a table. And leave room for desert. The chefs here are very creative and it shines through especially with their deserts."

I have been to Sorrella on
numerous occasions and it never disappoints! I had an delicious dinner and absolutely divine desserts! I highly recommend!"

I found Sorella on a list of "15
of New York's Most Underrated Restaurants," alongside several other spots we've tried and loved. We had extraordinary tasty food and a charming, helpful server. Highly recommended."

If you like fresh food that is
expertly crafted then this restaurant is for you. Everything was delicious, portion size appropriate and everything was inventive with regard to ingredients including the cocktails. Our server was excellent and in addition to knowing the menu and guiding us through it, she made great wine suggestions and timed the meal well. Great place - I will definitely return."

Cons: A party of 6 w/ reservations
for 9pm, we were seated at 9:40. In the interim, we were asked to wait "beside the bar." Servers checked on us only once every 20mins as we were shuffled around the restaurant. Wine was ruined by steaming hot glasses. Waitress threw down cocktail menus at every course; I can only hope these would have been served chilled. Music heavy on dad rock, marring an otherwise tasteful décor. Pros: The broccoli fritto is a standout appetizer. Pastas are simple and considered. The bombolini are accomplished, not-so-little things. Reasonable food prices. Conclusion: Service defeated the chefs' best intentions. Needs a new waitstaff and to restrain itself from accepting reservations overeagerly."

Sorella used to be one of my
favorite spots on the lower east side, they were known for their YUMMY stuffed meatball - which hasn't been on the menu for over a year apparently - the food was mediocre, they have serious climate control issues, way too cold to too warm. We started w Old Fashion's and those were below mediocre, the wine was excellent though. And, our server was extremely knowledgeable about the wine and the cheese which was definitely the highlight. The rest was disappointingly mediocre. This used to be one of my favorite spots, I am so sorry to see it on the decline."

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience
at Sorella, the waiting staff was very attentive and knowledgable of their menu. I ordered to start the Speck and paired it with a cheese recommended by our waiting staff which was awesome. Next we had the veal short breads in this home made tartar amazing sauce (highly recommend.) Then we had the grilled quail, and this was prob our least favorite dish but it was still tasty. The one that blew us away was the Sorrel Stracci which was great, lamb and the homemade pasta were truly incredible. Great cocktails as well, overall I had a great dining experience and will be back there again, especially since I live right next door to it."

Food at Sorella is authentic
northen italian with creative and modern touches. The agnolotti that i had could have been easily found at a restaurant in Piedmont. I love the veal crudo, the fried broccoli, the stracciatella salad. All the pasta dishes were good or very good. Service was attentive and nice and the palce was calm, we could talk to each other without screaming. Next time I will ask to be seated in the room next to the entrance which is more cosy."

Delicious cocktails. Pleasant
ambiance. The food was good, but it was verrry expensive given its relative simplicity and portion size."
