Everything about our experience at
Sorella was amazing. The service impeccable, atmosphere fun and charming, and then there is the food. We were a party of 5 so were able to taste a number of the unique appetizers and a few sides before we had the pasta. Until now I never had a broccoli dish I liked. The grilled quail and veal tongue appetizers were amazing (they all were really). Then there is the pasta: the agnolotti melted in your mouth and the lamb Ragusa was outstanding. Molly is one of the top young chefs in the city!"

The front of the restaurant, the
decor, the menu, the wine list-- all pared-down offerings of quality over quantity. The Piedmontese food and wine are comforting and unusual in equal measure. Service is friendly and low-key, but thorough. Our table of 4 ordered 3 "qualcosine", 4 pasta dishes and a side of Brussels sprouts-- the perfect amount of food, and every bite was delicious."

A lovely taste of Italy hidden off
of a rough street on the LES. A great place to relax after art gallery hopping at the new spots in this neighborhood. The food was complex and delicious and our waitress was instructive and unobtrusive. Delightful eating experience - and the chefs have a cookbook!"

Food and ambience were good but
the overall experience wasn’t. At 8 on a Saturday evening in a nearly empty restaurant we were told that there was only one lamb shank left (fish and vegetarian pasta were other two mains). Over the next two hours we heard groans and moans from customers as they were told there was no more lamb and that if they really wanted a meat dish they could order a pasta dish with a meat sauce. What restaurant runs out of one of its mains before the evening has barely begun? We also ordered different wines by the glass to go with each course; although each course arrived at its appointed time the wine didn’t; we waited impatiently for our waitress, flagged down the water server, etc., before receiving our wine."

Couple of times, I had a dinner
since they opened. But, I was disappointed of their salty appetizers at this time. I think it should be bit less salt for some appetizers. Otherwise, they will kill the each ingredient's taste and balance as my opinon."

The food quality and flavor
combinations are amazing. The servers are always very knowledgable and go above and beyond. The wine list has a beautiful selection that pair perfectly with the menu. Save room for dessert because the homemade gelato is out of this world. If you ever want to impress someone bring them here."

The inside section is quiet and

I work for an Italian company,
have been to Italy many times, and I can say with confidence that the food at Sorella is very good. I especially the fried broccolis for the appetizers. The portions here are a bit strange; they skew on the smaller side so I recommend ordering a bunch of appetizers and pasta dishes and sharing as a table. And leave room for desert. The chefs here are very creative and it shines through especially with their deserts."

If you like fresh food that is
expertly crafted then this restaurant is for you. Everything was delicious, portion size appropriate and everything was inventive with regard to ingredients including the cocktails. Our server was excellent and in addition to knowing the menu and guiding us through it, she made great wine suggestions and timed the meal well. Great place - I will definitely return."

Cons: A party of 6 w/ reservations
for 9pm, we were seated at 9:40. In the interim, we were asked to wait "beside the bar." Servers checked on us only once every 20mins as we were shuffled around the restaurant. Wine was ruined by steaming hot glasses. Waitress threw down cocktail menus at every course; I can only hope these would have been served chilled. Music heavy on dad rock, marring an otherwise tasteful décor. Pros: The broccoli fritto is a standout appetizer. Pastas are simple and considered. The bombolini are accomplished, not-so-little things. Reasonable food prices. Conclusion: Service defeated the chefs' best intentions. Needs a new waitstaff and to restrain itself from accepting reservations overeagerly."

Sorella used to be one of my
favorite spots on the lower east side, they were known for their YUMMY stuffed meatball - which hasn't been on the menu for over a year apparently - the food was mediocre, they have serious climate control issues, way too cold to too warm. We started w Old Fashion's and those were below mediocre, the wine was excellent though. And, our server was extremely knowledgeable about the wine and the cheese which was definitely the highlight. The rest was disappointingly mediocre. This used to be one of my favorite spots, I am so sorry to see it on the decline."

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience
at Sorella, the waiting staff was very attentive and knowledgable of their menu. I ordered to start the Speck and paired it with a cheese recommended by our waiting staff which was awesome. Next we had the veal short breads in this home made tartar amazing sauce (highly recommend.) Then we had the grilled quail, and this was prob our least favorite dish but it was still tasty. The one that blew us away was the Sorrel Stracci which was great, lamb and the homemade pasta were truly incredible. Great cocktails as well, overall I had a great dining experience and will be back there again, especially since I live right next door to it."

Food at Sorella is authentic
northen italian with creative and modern touches. The agnolotti that i had could have been easily found at a restaurant in Piedmont. I love the veal crudo, the fried broccoli, the stracciatella salad. All the pasta dishes were good or very good. Service was attentive and nice and the palce was calm, we could talk to each other without screaming. Next time I will ask to be seated in the room next to the entrance which is more cosy."

This is our third time at Sorella,
always with "foodie" visitors from California. We and they have not been disappointed. The food is creative and well prepared. The atmosphere is calm and attractive and the service is attentive but not overbearing. One of our recent guests remembered Sorella - and especially the pate on the english muffin- and they requested to go back so other family members could experience it. We had a great evening trying and sharing all of the "small plates" and the excellent strip steak entree. I am particularity adverse to loud music while I dine and I asked the waiter to lower the music which came from a speaker right over our table. He lowered it and remained lowered during our entire meal! Thanks Sorella."

I had high hopes for Sorella after
seeing it profiled by Vice magazine. The food and service were solid but not spectacular; we had the broccoli frito and tomato and watermelon salad to start, which were both delicious. The mains - pan-roasted white fish and salt cod-stuffed pasta with olive puree - were well-cooked but each lacked something. The gelato - three varieties - was divine. The wait staff was friendly but lacked coordination, bringing out our dinner wine before the drinks we'd ordered to start."

My first time at Sorella and also
my first time trying sweet breads. Gotta say, I really enjoyed both. The staff was very welcoming and were quick to explain a question I had regarding the menu. Nice modern atmosphere in the weirest place I would ever expect to find a little gem like this. The food was prepared with attention to detail and was packed full of flavor. (Pork Rillets, Sweet Breads and fried broccoli) all hit the spot. Homemade Pici pasta with a pork ragu was very rich but very tasty. The portion was small and just right and the sides of Brussels Sprouts and fried potato's were also very good but we did over order. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert and next store, Stellina was already closed. Overall a good experience."

effort at combining different tastes in interesting ways was admirable. Nonetheless flavor combinations sounded more interesting on the menu than in the mouth. The music choices also sounded like they came from my teenage daughter's play list. We had a nice time but expected more."

Put simply, an amazing dining
experience. The portions are perfect for sharing yet the ambiance also is great for small groups. I was extremely impressed with the cocktail and wine selection. I ordered the Pici, spicy pork pasta dish and was extremely impressed. Everyone in our group of six enjoyed their respective meals and I would jump at the chance to dine here again."

Had a lovely dinner at Sorella -
the food was exceptional and the ambiance was lovely. Ate in the back, closed in porch which had a glass ceiling. Would recommend for a date night or upscale dinner with family or friends. One note, this place is certainly not kid friendly. They tried to prepare something special for my little nephews but seemed a bit overwhelmed by the idea - waiter had to keep going to check if the chef could prepare plan pasta with butter and cheese."

Very nice dinner with an unusual
menu. Small plates that aren't really small: more like a Goldliocks experience where portions were just right. Excellent fried broccoli and fresh pasta. Delicious homemade gelato. Perfect if you're in the neighborhood; even worth a trip."

This was my first visit to
Sorella, and I can't wait to return. The food was awesome, carefully prepared, and exquisitely presented. The menu was diverse, and the dishes were amazing in that they were layered with complex flavors, yet simple in explanation, and delivered exactly as advertised on the concise, but complete, menu. The service could not have been more attentive, yet, discreet. I would recommend this spot for anyone wanting to find a "hidden gem" and impress their foodie friends with a real find."

Saw a reference to Sorella on a
food network broadcast and put it on our list to try. The food was as advertised--excellent. The appetizers were not only delicious, they were substantial. Since it was our first visit, we felt that we had to have everything on the menu so we did order too much. Had a lovely cheese course, followed by broccoli fritto (to die for) and a veal tongue with capers on homemade bread. Not usually my thing but it was delicious. We each had a pasta dish and both were outstanding, and a side of Brussels topped off the dinner. Dessert was good, but dinner was better. We will definitely be back to sample the portions of the menu we didn't get to."
