Diner Reviews
  • "Sophia's is the best Italian Restaurant in Naples! All the pasta is homemade..my favorite dish is the chicken parm and the lasagna is so good! We are taking our friends from the UK this week and always excited to dine at Sophia's!"

  • "We tried Sophia's because it was on our way to a concert at the Naples' Philharmonic, but we will be back! The waiter was friendly, attentive and helpful. The menu has something to please everyone, including kids. The beautiful decor enhanced our dining pleasure. I would have preferred a veal chop that was not pounded to paper-thinness, but that was how it is described on the menu, and was delicious. The pasta is home-made and excellent. We had no room for dessert, but the coffee was good."

  • "We had reservations at 830 but came at 730 and they accommodated us right away, even though they were quite busy on a Friday night. The bottle of wine we wanted was out if stock so we ordered the one one the table for a bit more, but it was worth it! The menu is large but was explained to us as were the specials. The food is fabulous, very authentic Italian. Our server was great even though it was busy. Would highly recommend if in the area!"

  • "Sophia's is the absolute BEST Italian restaurant in Naples!! Their food is delicious, the menu gives you many choices and the service is outstanding. The only thing wrong with dining at Sophia's is that when we go back up North in the spring, we have to spend months craving their wonderful food until we return! Please, try this amazing restaurant! You won't be sorry!"

  • "One of the best if not the best Italian food in Naples. The homemade pasta is Simply wonderful and the suppe de pecse is more than two people can eat!"

  • "the food was good. But too much sauce on the fish and the pasta was very gummy and sticky and couldn't really eat. My husbands pasta with the bolognese sauce was perfect. The veal chop was delicious. Stick to the italian food and not the fish"

  • "We went for dinner and the food was good enough to satisfy someone raised on an immigrants Italian cooking. Food was served quickly and HOT! Service was wonderful and our server was very attentive. Don't be fooled by it's outdoor appearance, as its in an area where there is a hotel and Harley dealership. We didn't have dessert but we did see some and they looked good. I did see the sfogliatelle and they looked small even for getting two. Would definitely recommend to others."

  • "From the appetizers to the main entrees - all was very good. Great Papparadelle Pasta with ragu - fantastic, the veal fantastic and the osso buco fantastic. "G" our server - she is the best - She completes your meal!"

  • "We have been to most of the recommended Italian restaurants and this is by far the best and one to go to. Great homemade pasta, large portions and reasonable prices. Our table had spaghetti and meatballs, linguini and clams, chicken parm and lobster Milanese. All phenomenal. The lobster was the star for creativity. Never had anything like it...14 oz pounded tail with great flavor. Skip the others and go here!"

  • "We had dinner at Sophias for the first time and will return again. We had four people at our table and no one was disappointed in their meal. In fact, everyone one had a left over to take home. EXCELLENT!"

  • "We just found Sophia's this year and it is our third time dining there. The owner is always there and greets the guests. He worked with us last time until we found a table location that was enjoyable. His wine suggestions are reasonably priced and interesting Italian wines. Servers are personable and efficient. Try it....I know you will like it. I left out the most important....the food is exceptional"

  • "We had a delightful time at Sophia's. We were made to feel welcome and given a nice table, the place is not that big and it would be easy for them to cram people in. The service from our waiter was friendly, efficient and knowledgable. I started with mussels in what must be one of the best marinara sauces I have ever had. My wife's lasagna was generous and right up there with the best. My main the veal piccata was nice but over sauced in my opinion. My penne was cooked perfectly. All this and nice bread and salad too. We even received a complimentary tiramisu which although we were full was really tasty. Sophia's is a tremendous value; top notch service, a nice ambiance and generous portions of tasty food. Highly recommended."

  • "There are scads of Italian restaurants in Naples but this one takes you to Italy. I love that it is locally owned and operated. The menu is extensive. The wait staff saw that we were having a good time conversing with table mates and did not rush us. It's about the food and friendliness, not turning the tables 3 times a night."

  • "We enjoyed going to Sophia's! They had a special the evening we dined with friends it was lobster tail encrusted in bread crumbs and it was awesome! The veal saltimbucca w/prosciutto & marsala sauce was delicious along with their filet of sole and the best is always the lasagna!"

  • "Had a very poor table for two. Was sandwiched between a table for 5 and round table for 8. Waiter had difficult time getting time to service our table properly. Our wine selection was out of stock and were not happy with other options. Have had nothing but great dining experiences at Sophia's in the past. This time out did not measure up to our other visits."

  • "True Italian adventure...yummy food..great birthday celebration!"

  • "Yes, my husband and I enjoyed eating at Sophias. The food was excellent, service was very good. I had a delicious veal marsala, he loved his veal saltombocca. There was enough to take home for another meal, very plentiful. The biggest draw back was the closeness of the tables, it is difficult for us to enjoy a meal when you know the people are so close and can hear your whole conversation. There were just 2 of us and 2 of them, it would have been much worse if there had been a loud group next to us."

  • "Good food, but obscenely large portions; you'll eat 1/3 of what they serve. Poor, inattentive service."

  • "We brought guests from Marco. They are now in love with this great restaurant as we are. Sophia's did not disappoint. Great food, terrific service, what more do you want?"
    Dined on 3/19/2014
  • "The food is tasty, warm, and attractively presented. I like the fact that there are many choices. The staff is attentive but not hovering. We have been here several times and the food is always good."

  • "Our second time dining at Sophia's and enjoyed it just as much as our first visit. The staff is attentive and the food is very good. I love the Tuna Carpaccio appetizer and my husband devoured the Veal Marsala."

  • "The tables are a little close together but a really pretty restaurant. Service was impeccable. My only complaint is the fettucine was overcooked, which I always find surprising in an Italian restaurant but I never know if that was an error or if they just make it that way because most diners think it's supposed to be that way and complain if it's al dente."

  • "Great food... Heaping portions....best service... Great wine list ..not for cheap dinners ... I have gone back again and again. Never disappointed"

  • "Always, friendly, professional service with a smile and an AMAZING array of Italian food choices, one better than the next. Book on Open Table or call for a res. if you are dining "in season". They are super busy, and for many GREAT REASONS!"

  • "Absentee waiter. Iced tea had that overwhelming "off flavor" it gets when it's been brewed days earlier and been allowed to sit out for too long. Caesar salad was ok, but a little too much of the romaine "stalk" and not enough of the leaf. Also clear the salads were pre-made and shelved in a fridge for later use as needed. Entrees: the veal was bland and the pasta side dish was stale; tortellini was unfortunate, particularly the sauce (e.g. store-brand canned). Dessert: tiramisu was ok, but right out of a grocer's freezer section (however, the coffee was actually quit good). The bill: 1 iced tea, 2 entrees, 1 tiramisu, and 1 coffee came to $70...just a little too much to pay for barely "store-bought" quality food and absentee service."

  • "Another great dining experience! The food was incredible. I ordered the tortellini. It was delicious. My daughter's favorite is the pappardelle. It too was excellent. The portions are huge so plan on taking leftovers home. The wait staff us very attentive and friendly. Management is also attentive and ensures you that that what you to have a perfect dining experience. It is on our favorites list when we come down from Michigan."

  • "The food was good, not great. We ordered a bottle of wine with dinner which the waitress recommended. she came back and said they were out and recommended another one, which the manager said was a good value. We ordered it and it cost us $ 20.00 more than the original one we really wanted. I felt a little betrayed."

  • "Sophia's was absolutely fabulous from the moment we walked in, until we left. The Staff was very courteous and attentive. You never needed to prod the wait staff to refill your water glass. The wine list seemed to be extensive and reasonably priced. The food was OUTSTANDING."

  • "We have dined at this Restaurant three times now. This evening was a Sunday and the restaurant was not very crowded. In the past the food was outstanding. This evening the food was mediocre at best. There must have been a different chef. Was very disappointed. Will be going this Sunday. Hopefully, the food will be what we had expected."

  • "I had lobster fra diavalo with gluten free pasta. It was delicious! My husband had the veal saltimbucca that the waiter recommended. It was dry and bland. He should have ordered my dish. We got a reservation for 8:30 since that was the only time available a week in advance. It was not crowded in the least. We could've gone earlier. Still, great Italian food and a fabulous waiter."

  • "We thought the quality of the food was OK but quite pricey for the pasta dishes we ordered. When they arrived we realised why, as each plate was enormous and filled with a massive amount of food. So if you have a big budget and a humongous appetite this could be the place for you, but we were underwhelmed."
