The reason we go to Sopapilla's is more for the atmosphere than than the food. The food is good to OK, but we find it to be a little inconsistent. The two items worth mentioning are the Blue Corn Tortilla Enchiladas and the Kale Salad which you can add either shrimp or Mahi Mahi. The patio dining is fabulous especially in the spring and fall, they also have some interesting margaritas that are fun to try. I suggest making a reservation for the patio specifically as it does fill up.

Not Old Mexico, the new one. If you are expecting a version of T. Bell or Las Palmas this isn't your place. This is Santa Fe (not Santa Fee, y'all). Or Ruidoso. Or the Q. Red or Green all the way. Nice service, nice outdoors tables, good drinks . A hit with our clan.

This was my third time at this restaurant and I found myself asking, "Why don't I come more often?" Each time, I got something different and loved them all. The Franklin location may be off the beaten path, but it's a path worth travel! It's a fresh and unique taste from your traditional Mexican food!

Generally enjoy Sopapilla's but they were not on their A game Monday night. Got one of two starters delivered to table. When error was recognized an appropriate apology was offered but then our mains were delayed. We did manage to get three of four main courses delivered; I guess 75% is better than 50%. Manager recognized and offered to adjust bill. Good service recovery. Will give them a next chance.

  • Request not honored - oh well

We specifically requested outside seating; however, when we arrived were told the threat of rain would prevent our request from being honored. No problem. We have been to Sopapilla's several times and love the food. When we left, the outside patio was packed with people. So much for the threat of rain.

Just about everything was too spicey, 2 of the entrees were too hot to eat. We wish we had been alerted to the hotness level of certain dishes, esp the fish tacos and the guacamole. We ate outside and mosquitos were a problem, several of us were bitten. Oscillating fans might have helped. Our waitress was delightful and the dessert delish.

Every thing was good but our seating time. We were there on time or a little early and there were seats on the patio but no waiters to cover the tables so we had to sit and wait for someone to come in or another table to leave. We got a drink and waited but what is the point of making a reservation.

We came with a party of 5 which included our almost 2 year old daughter. They were very accommodating to our needs. The prices were very reasonable, the food was fantastic and the service was excellent. I can see why this place is often busy. Only thing I could nitpick is that the bar was a bit backed up and it took a while to get drinks.

Always very consistent....easily the best mexican food in Nashville. The dip sampler is the best way to start followed by one of the great salads - yes...salads at a mexican food restaurant...or the pulled chicken quesadillas, the blue corn enchilada's or the veggie enchilada's. One of our favorite Friday night places to go...get reservations....it is a popular place!

Had the Sopapilla Platter. The "corn tamale" was just mush. The rest of the plate was very good. Also had the Sopapilla Margarita. I doubt there was any tequila in it. Just a nice limeade. Been there before on a Saturday night, and it was always packed. This time about 75% full. They really need to clean the floors. They were very greasy.

Our 1st visit to Sopapilla's. Dinner reservations at 6:45 PM. When making reservations and again when we arrived, we requested outside seating. Although several tables were available outside, it took 15 minutes to be seated. After being seated, it took a good 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge our presence. Once we placed our drink order, we waited again. It was 7:30 PM when we were served our drinks - 45 minutes after we arrived at the restaurant. My husband had to 'return' his margarita as it was mostly ice, very little liquid, and an ingredient had obviously been omitted. The outdoor atmosphere was delightful and our meal was good. Probably will return at some time in hopes of better service.

…BUT it is a "like" -- the food was good, service prompt, but there was nothing special about this place. We were there and it was practically empty. The floor was not as clean as it should have been and the table was not wiped. Also, for the price and "New Mexican" cuisine, I expected homemade chips.

I have been to this restaurant several times, I know the food is great. That's why I chose to bring my sister, who just moved to TN, for her first dinner out in Franklin. We were greeted by the hostess and sat promptly, but after that we received no service at all. We were approached several times by a server and hostess, asking if any one had been to our table. We told them on two separate occasions that we did not have a server yet. We were never offered drinks and we never saw our server. Our reservation was at 9 and by 9:17, we left. I was embarrassed after raving to my sister how great the restaurant was, this was not the service I expected.

Our server was new, so i think that was the main issue. We ordered nachos and asked them to leave off a couple ingredients. When they arrived they had no cheese. Our server told us a red sauce was the cheese and when i questioned him he went to ask the kitchen, came back and told us they were out of cheese! A while later the manager came by with a tiny cup of cheese. At this point our nachos were cold so they remade them for us. The happy ending is that we were not charged for them. Sopapillas food is usually really good! The manager was extremely nice and apologetic!

Go for the food and stay for the outdoor view. This is easily my favorite Mexican restaurant in Nashville. An awesome deal is the tres taco's entree in which you can choose your favorites between chicken, shrimp and my favorite, the beef taco. The shell are fried and fresh. Nice and romantic with a stone wall lining the back of the dining room and the bar. I love the jazz music as well, yes I did say jazz.

I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM and enjoy every facet of New Mexican food. 20 years in the Navy sent me to every continent, and I have experienced food and peppers all over the world, but when it comes to Hatch Green Chile there is NO substitute. Any Pepper Aficionado can tell you; peppers may look alike but the tastes are considerably different. This is the case with the coveted Hatch Chile. This restaurant in Franklin was wonderful. The dinning room was well organized, the service was efficiently friendly, and the food was the closest thing to NM home cooking that I have ever had outside of NM, due in no small part to the importation of the Hatch Chile. Bravo Zulu to the Owners, Staff, and with raised fork, the Chef.

Let me state that I still enjoy Sopapillas, and would recommend it to many of my friends who are seeking a pleasant atmosphere with tasty, authentic food. We visit Sopapillas a few times per year for special occasions, so the "recent" changes seemed significantly more abrupt. Many of our previously permitted substitutions for vegetarians were no longer available. I must also comment on the music selection. It was, in a word, abrupt. The music alternated between Three Days Grace, Bob Dylan, Coltrane jazz, and Shania Twain. Not to say any or all of these were poor choices for ambience, but we found the leaps between genres abrasive.
