"A tapas menu that's quite limited made this a disappointing meal. The food is good but certainly not memorable nor attractively plated. The prices, however, are appropriate for outstanding food, presented more thoughtfully. Service was excellent, but there were few diners present."

"We are in Rochester for two weeks for Mayo Clinic treatments. We have gone to Sontes twice in a week's time because we liked the food and wine very much, as well as the interesting decor. On our first visit, we had terrible service. This time, the service was much better, but still had a gap or two. The restaurant has high ceilings and hard surfaces, so gets very noisy when it fills up in the evening. All in all, we like Sontes and we will definitely return on our next Mayo visit."

"The food was wonderful--very inventive and flavorful. However, the service we had was bad. Other tables had more attentive servers. Ours was perky when she was around, but she disappeared for periods of time. We got shrimp chips and an amuse bouche quickly, but waited forever for our first glass of wine. I had to go looking for her when we wanted a second glass of wine. The restaurant was not busy, so I don't think there was any excuse for the bad service. We will go back and hope not to get the same waitress."

"Valentine's Night was made especially lovely by Sontes in Rochester, MN. The perfect ambiance for a romantic evening and a beautiful spread was offered to us by exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The food was amazing and the wine selection was extensive. Overall I'd rate Sontes as a top-5 destination spot in Rochester, Minnesota."

"We had no real high hopes, given the location of the restaurant (Rochester), and were absolutely amazed my the service, quality and taste of the food, and the wine pairings. We are still tlking about the experience, days after the fact. If the restaurant were anywhere other than Rochester, we'd be back often."
