  • "I had a difficult time deciding between the salmon or halibut fish tacos, so the waitress offered to do 2 salmon and 1 halibut (at the higher price). The salmon was flavorful but the halibut was dry and fishy smelling. Service was helpful and friendly. Fresh chips and salsa and also delicious black beans!"

  • "The food was fabulous. We love the queso dip which is kept warm and creamy with a small burner and the table side guacamole tastes fresh and delicious. The entrees were flavorful with nice presentation. The atmosphere is modern and comfortable with dimmed lighting. We went on a Friday night and there was a guitarist there providing background music. This is not your typical Mexican fair so don't expect routine tacos and burritos. Also, since it was busy that evening the talking became a bit loud. Not a great place to bring small children but perfect for a date night!"

  • "This was our second visit. Both times, the atmosphere is fun, the service was excellent - and the food was fresh and perfectly spiced. We love Mexican food, and have been many places - but this is the best we have had. The guacamole and ceviche were amazing. The enchiladas, the bananas foster - oh yeah. Coming back!"

  • "I raved about this restaurant for days. My two friends ordered the taco combo. They were not impressed with all the sauces. The refried black beans were dry, they did not even eat the refried beans. Our server though was really on top of things. We were sat at the back booth, where we needed an extra chair. We had wished since we made reservations we would have had a table for the 5 of us. We really do like black beans just not refried. Will you ever have just the reg black beans not refried? We are planning on coming back again, sometimes things aren't going good we know that.."

They were very flavorful and we did not find the spiciness too overpowering. Definitely Southwest flavors, not typical Mexican fare. The atmosphere is wonderful. The lighting provides a soft glow and it was easy to carry on a conversation. We will be back!"

  • "My family is disappointed in the change of menu. My husband and I used to love the steak and enchilada dish, but now they are using filet and the enchilada doesn't have the same great taste. The quality of the filet did not meet up with expectations but did increase the price. Our daughter loved the carne asada but they changed the sauce and it did not work for her. The tortilla soup is still great. My husband tried the chicken adobo and poblano. The dish didn't deliver brighter flavors. I tried the fish tacos. The tacos did deliver flavor, but were difficult to eat as the tortillas fell apart instantly. I don't think we will use it as often with the prices going up and the flavors not delivering bright exciting tastes."

  • "Sonterra is an excellent place for reasonably priced southwestern dinner meal in the evening. We didn't enjoy the guacamole made at the table, but we will next time. The wine list was also good. The service was prompt, which was helpful because we had only an hour and a half to eat before our show. We are looking forward to our next visit!"

  • "I haven't spent much time in Colorado Springs over the last five years (living in the Denver metro area now), but I had been to the Sonterra Grill before - a while back. My girlfriend, daughter and I went to see a show earlier this week, and caught dinner at Sonterra based on my previous visits way back. We ordered several varieties of enchiladas and tacos. LOVED IT! The sauces were great! And I enjoyed the Salsa w/chips (the salsa was heated up, something I don't see anywhere else). The server was prompt and courteous, even though the place was packed prior to the show. I complain that I didn't have a favorite restaurant...until now. Sonterra was great...and look forward to my next visit. Be assured, it won't take another 5 yrs!"

  • "The tables are way too close together which makes it uncomfortable to sit and have conversations. the noise level due to the proximity of the other tables creates a discernable increase in decibles as the room fills. The food is excellent and top notch, the service is excellent. Not recommended for a romantic evening or business lunch or dinner, there's just too much noise."

Only complaint - doors/windows open, and a stiff breeze kept blowing out queso Sterno...until it also caught the paper on fire under the chips - exciting! Fun evening with great food!"
