Sonsie - BostonGood for BrunchGood food, excellent service. Only one criticism, not enough salmon on my eggs Norwegian. Everyone else was very happy with the food. Make a reservation.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the brunchI have eaten at Sonsie for both lunch and dinner many times, but this is the first time I've tried the brunch. There was enormous variety, wonderful food and lovely presentation. I will certainly return for this meal again!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSatisfiedFood was really good. Ambience was a little lounder than I anticipated so it was hard to have a discussion without either leaning in or shouting. (I was dining with an important colleague from France so leaning it was a little inappropriate and awkward.)5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Sonsie, not the recent menuI love Sonsie and will continue to eat here, however nothing on this most recent menu really jumped out at myself or the other two I was with. Will probably wait until the season (and menu hopefully) changes before going back. Our service was great though!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food!We frequent Sonsie and are always impressed with their amazing food and great atmosphere. May be a bit loud for some parties but we love the energy!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMI was very pleased to seeI was very pleased to see that my request for a table of 5 by the window (for sunday brunch) was granted. Food and service both were great.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMHad to wait a bit to be seatedHad to wait a bit to be seated even though we had a reservation, but our waitress was fast and really nice. Cocktails were good and the food was fantastic4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWelcome backWith the reopening of Boston's Bolyston St area, a trip to Sonsie's was a requirement.
As always the food was wonderful, the service top notch and the scene was great to watch.
Always trust the specials.
I wish they would give you a bigger breadbasket- but you can always ask for more.
Trust the wine recommendations and enjoy4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGood find in old Boston! The food and service at Sonsie was great. We started dinner at the bar with drinks before dinner and found the bar keepers to be very attentive to our needs. Once we moved to the table our waiter was very energetic and helpful in heloing us make our selections. Our appetizers, entree, and desserts were all very good. I enjoyed it so much I returned the following evening to try other things on the menu, and had a similar experience.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMInside but outsideThe service was excellent and friendly. It is always fun to sit near the window and watch the world go by.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our front row tableWe enjoyed our front row table along Newbury St. on a warm sunny Spring day. The trout was delicious, and the Summer Draft Beers went down nicely.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate here the last two EasterWe ate here the last two Easter Sundays for brunch because it was a la carte and not a costly buffet. The brunch menu covers everyone's tastes from Eggs Benedict to gourmet personal pizzas, plus an excellent bread basket. I was particularly impressed that although the place was packed, we were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time both years. The service was just right. It is a lively hot spot when the windows are open onto Newbury Street. The tables are close but it's a fun vibe.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for when the weatherGreat for when the weather is nice out. Good energy in the place, and service was friendly.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMSonsie on a sunny day-the best! This was a perfect spot on a sunny day to treat my cousin visiting from out of town to a delicious slice of Boston's food &cultcha! We were in the second row of tables facing the open view of Newbury's foot traffic, so our starter of people watching was very satisfying. We sipped blood orange mimosas and feasted on rum banana French toast and the sausage/potato frittata, both were large portions & delish. The only reason I didn't give the food 5 stars is that I like a little crunch in my French toast - the flavors were great, but rum caramel sauce took away the crispness of the toast, I guess that is the downside of rum caramel! The servers were friendly, attentive, but not obtrusive. Make a reservation if you go on the weekend!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Brunch! The host staff accommodated the seating request I included with my reservation, even though it was a busy brunch. Eric provided STELLAR -- friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The cherry on top was delicious food! The perfect Sunday brunch, will definitely be back soon.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMEmily DBAs always we had a wonderful dinner at Sonsie. The food was delicious and the waiter was attentive and quick- we informed him we were in a bit of a rush. There wasn't an empty table in the restaurant and the vibe was energetic and fun. I will always go back for a guaranteed good meal.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommendedA little loud but very accommodating. Extra ice if needed, cracked pepper upon request. Fresh oysters, honest recommendations. Very light gnocchi!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI really enjoyed Sonsie. MyI really enjoyed Sonsie. My friend ordered the frittata for lunch and it ended up being a little spicy for her taste. She wasn't sure whether to mention it or not, but the manager came by and asked how everything was and offered to replace it for her without any fuss. We ended up ordering two desserts and finished off the meal with the spice cake (which was to die for) and the banana pudding.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very good meal hereWe had a very good meal here -- pasta with spinach and pecorino was cooked perfectly, and our salads were very fresh and tasty. Service was also surprisingly attentive, given the lively bar scene in the other half of the restaurant.
Despite the energetic noise level, we'd still gladly return here -- it was a better-than-expected foodie experience.1/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
