A word from Sons & Daughters
Sons & Daughters is influenced by the seasons, unique elements of their garden, and the surrounding bay area. The approach to the food is thoughtful, delicate, and displays clarity of ingredients. Our tasting menu is 98 dollars.
The garden is located on one acre in Los Gatos, California and contains expansive boxes, a greenhouse and an orchard. The restaurant’s garden grows a variety of flowers, greens, herbs, vegetables, fruits and snails specifically for Sons & Daughters.
The wine program is unique, with wines that balance, enhance and pair the light and playful food. The 28 seat dining room is welcoming and wraps around a lively open kitchen which plays an active role in the dining experience.

  • "My coworker knows the owner and recommended Sons & Daughters to me. I made a reservation for late Subday night for one person. What a way to kick of my first San Fran experience! The waitstaff were extremely courteous and wonderful to talk to. The food was phenomenal! I am, usually, a creature of habit when it comes to my meals so, it was definitely an adventure to have the menu preset with dishes I might not have chosen on my own. Such a wonderful experience! I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys great food and a beautiful presentation."

  • "Creative dishes with some unique flavors, but nothing really blew me away. They clearly are very meticulous about their food, and I can't say that anything was bad, but throughout the meal I was left wanting something... more. The service is friendly and unpretentious, but it's also lacking in refinement and details. Timing was erratic, with a huge pause btw. the first and second courses and then a rush at the end. They brought our coffee before either the palate cleanser OR the dessert course (we also still had a wine pairing yet to come). They're trying hard, but the price/value tradeoff just isn't there for me ($450 for 2 people, incl. wine pairings). I can get more for less elsewhere."

  • "Sons & Daughters is a tiny intimate restaurant that serves a prix fixe menu made from local ingredients, including many things grown on its Los Gatos farm. The 5 chefs operating almost wordlessly (but like a symphony) in the open kitchen create the magic. The portions are small, but we were full when we left. We can't begin to describe all the dishes, which included an amuse of chips and different courses of oysters, artichokes, chicken, lamb shoulder, and lemon cheesecake, each an intricate pairing of flavors and sensations. The bread and special butter alone were worth the price and the service was perfect. We opted for the wine pairings, but there is an interesting wine list. Although pricey, it's worth it every penny."

Seven course dinner, all fresh and exquisitely prepared, beautifully plated, with tasty breads along the way - very nice! Yet not stuffy, the wait staff were helpful but not intrusive - all in all, a great night."

  • "You do not have any choice in the selection - you simply get a multi course menu. But this is perfect. The dishes are full of variation, nicely presented and perfectly prepared. Also the service is very attentive - and if you have the chance to have a table wehre you can observe the crew in the open kitchen, you will be amazed how efficient everything is.   • "Overall dinner out with my husband at Sons and Daughters was an amazing experience. The food was truly outstanding. I particularly enjoyed the chicken dish as the stock was the best I have ever had. The service was outstanding. All staff were attentive to every need and the maitre d was impressive in how he managed the front of the house. The only disappointment was the wine pairing and conversations with the sommiler. Much of the wine was European and inappropiate in highlighting the food. When I asked the sommrlier about this she was defensive in her responses to my questions about using local wines with local food. This experience somewhat marred the dining experience for me."

  • "Small restaurant, very intimate. We had an early seating and sat by the window. Not the greatest view but probably the only minus. I liked that there were no choices. The kitchen, I guess, would try to accommodate dietary needs, if necessary. I won't go on a blow by blow. I also shared a wine pairing with my companion (we both drank out of the one glass-I probably drank more). Everything was excellent. The three breads were also very good. I highly recommend you try Sons & Daughters."

  • "Sons & Daughters is a wonderful neighborhood gem of a place. The ambiance is wonderful, with few tables, window views and a roaring fire to compliment the amazing items that come from what might be the tiniest restaurant kitchen in San Francisco. we dined there on the first evening of Spring, and were treated with a number of delicious and seasonal bites. The cozy space, attentive service and knowledgeable wine pairings were a bit of a throwback for me--something reminiscent of L'Avenue--but a welcome 'new' addition to fine dining in San Francisco. The somewhat hefty price tag for the fixed menu makes this a special treat, but one I will remember when the occasion calls for celebration."

  • "Sons & Daughters is a great find. They offer a seasonal prix fixe menu and, although they will make allowances for food allergies, etc., there is only one set menu for the night. There were a few items on the menu I wouldn't have normally chosen (duck has never been my favorite), everything was absolutely delicious. We chose to do the wine pairings which made the meal even more magnificent. This will be a special occasion pick for us as our bill for two people with wine pairings was over $400 but we will definitely be back. Also note that the restaurant automatically adds 15% gratuity to the bill which was included in our $400 total."

  • "We found this gem by word of mouth (work) and what a great find! The wine pairing menu was personalized for my husband's birthday; the food, the expected small portions. We tried three of the paired wines and were amazed at how they changed, depending on the food we were eating at the time. Because this is such a small restaurant, you need to make reservations well in advance, and may need to come early or late depending on availability. The staff, from the chef to the servers are very professional, yet personable, welcoming, warm and obviously love what they do. This is experiential dining, versus 'getting something to eat', so plan on at least 2 hours. We will definitely be back, with friends next time."

The restaurant is not stuffy, pretentious or precious as many places of this ilk are. The food was fantastic, unusual--and satisfying. The service impeccable and yet casual in the best way. I'd even go back!"

Food, wine, service, and ambiance - all aspects of this restaurant are impeccable. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted personally and treated with absolute kindness and respect. We let the restaurant know in advance that we had dietary restrictions, and this was not a problem - the chef created a 'pescatarian' tasting menu for me and my partner enjoyed a vegetarian tasting menu. We decided to do the wine pairing, and each wine was explained to us in detail as it was being served. The pairings complimented the different dishes exquisitely. We savored every moment and look forward to returning again."

The vibe was relaxed enough so that it did not feel uptight, yet service and attention to detail was immaculate. The scene was very hip, music and decor was very on-trend along with the youthful staff and other clientele. Probably one of my favorite dining experiences of the last year. Loved it!"
