A word from Sons & Daughters
Sons & Daughters is influenced by the seasons, unique elements of their garden, and the surrounding bay area. The approach to the food is thoughtful, delicate, and displays clarity of ingredients. Our tasting menu is 98 dollars.
The garden is located on one acre in Los Gatos, California and contains expansive boxes, a greenhouse and an orchard. The restaurant’s garden grows a variety of flowers, greens, herbs, vegetables, fruits and snails specifically for Sons & Daughters.
The wine program is unique, with wines that balance, enhance and pair the light and playful food. The 28 seat dining room is welcoming and wraps around a lively open kitchen which plays an active role in the dining experience.
Thank you.

My husband and I chose to followup our city hall wedding with a dinner at Sons & Daughters. From the menu that was personalized with our names to the warm greetings from all of the staff, the experience was flawless. The food was interesting and complex, without being fussy. So happy to have spent our first night together at this restaurant!

Our experience at Sons & Daughter's was good, but not special considering the cost of the meal. This is an expensive restaurant; however, we felt we were being rushed throughout, rather than being given the opportunity to savour the food and wine.

  • Amazing Farm to Table Dining

After a great write-up in Food & Wine I made reservations to this farm-to-table restaurant. The fixed tasting menu (your only option: wine pairing) eliminated any need to worry about what to pick. The dishes, including an amuse bouche, were extraordinary. The flavors, colors, textures were amazing--beautifully presented. Compliments to the chef for creative use of ingredients, all sourced from a local farm owned by the restaurant, if I recall correctly. The wine pairings were great and offered some pleasant surprises. This is a MUST VISIT. Now, if only I could have gotten the married couple next to us who sounded like, without hyperbole, they were on the verge of divorce to have just SHUT UP we could have REALLY enjoyed our dinner...

Requested for a salt free meal ( because of health issue ) for myself, request was sent when I make the booking on Opentable, then follow by email reply on the confirmation from the restaurant, and again when we arrived at the restaurant, the waiter said they have received the request. However, I don't think the meal was prepared salt free or at least low salt, very disappointed. If the restaurant do not prepare salt free meal, would be nice at least they can inform me they can't accommodate to special need or request.

i hope that they were having a bad night because the food was awful. i've eaten at some of the most delicious restaurants around the world and have never felt compelled to write a review -- good or bad. huge price tag, fine. tiny portions, ok. legitimately BAD tastes in several courses, unacceptable.

Great dining experience. Small cozy restaurant. We were shown to a waiting room in the back when we arrived 10min early. Food portions were fine dining size but through the courses we didn't at all hungry or feel stuffed like some multiple course tasting menu restaurants. Menu had the party's name printed which was a small but nice touch. Kitchen is tiny and open in the middle of the dining room-which means their chefs must be on point and flawless to work together in a tight space via whispers. All courses were delicious especially the squab which looked rare but cooked to perfection. Simple tomato soup couldn't have been more fresh and refined.

They were polite about accommodating my and my girlfriend's food preferences. They were forgiving when we arrived almost 30 minutes late. They were attentive to details of life as if we were their friends -- wished my GF happy birthday (even on the menu card) and made sure we were finished in time for my flight out of town. And then there was the food. Excellent craft work in flavor and presentation. Highly recommended.

What a special an memorable experience. We had to wait an extra 30 minutes for our table, but between a complementary glass of rose and their cool quirky waiting room we didn't mind. The food was outstanding, service impeccable. Attention to detail on every plate was incredible, and they were super accommodating of my vegetarian needs, and any allergies our group had. The cornbread toast might have been one of the best things I've ever tasted. The one thing I would improve is the wine selection. It was ok, but certainly not the best I've seen. I understand they probably want to push their pairings with the food, but we opted for a bottle and were underwhelmed. A sommelier would be a nice touch to go with the over-the-top experience.

Sons & Daughters was the perfect dinner spot to kickoff my very first visit to San Francisco. The menu was so diverse and the wine pairings fit beautifully with each dish. Even my dinner mate agreed-- and it wasn't easy to convince him to spend $$$ on dinner. The service is spectacular. The host, hostess and servers are so attentive. They even came up with a list or things to do while we were in San Fran. We left feeling full of delicious food. Will definitely be returning when I'm next on the west coast.

My wife and I chose the nights food and wine pairings. 6 well prepared courses with locally sourced items. The wines, however, were from all over the world - starting with a lovely rose champagne and ending with tawny port. The service is a collective effort. Tables a bit close to each other but otherwise...perfect.

We were in San Francisco for 3 days and I wanted to plan a special dinner. I found some info on Sons and Daughters and it sounded interesting. As it is a set menu, they ask in advance if you have any allergies or food dislikes and they worked around those exclusions. The food was beyond delicious and presentation was stunning...each dish was better than the last. We chose to have the wine selections with the various dishes and the wines were excellent, as well. Many people think a "tasting menu" is tiny portions but that is not the case here....portions were more than enough. We found the service to be excellent and servers were very knowledgeable about the menu. It is well worth the money for a special dinner.

We came for our anniversary, the staff was lovely and the ambiance served us well. The food, delicate on our plates and artistically arranged was a powerhouse of flavors. Although the portions were petite, we were completely satisfied and surprised by the originality of each serving. Romantic and intelligent with explosive flavor is what our experience delivered, (after thought, I just described my boyfriend!) So it was the perfect place to dine :)) Thank you..

The menu changes regularly but on the last visit some of the highlights: -roasted baby beets with vadouvan spices and mustard speed. what a wonderful blend of flavors -chicken consomme with yolk, chicken, and fried chicken skin. i LOVE fried chicken skin. -NY steak, padron peppers, and chanterelle mushrooms There's no going wrong with Sons and Daughters. We wanted to experience a different restaurant in San Francisco from that of our favorites, so with that said, we made a reservation at Son's & Daughters. Well, almost $400 for the two of us (including wine pairings and gratuity) would have been fine, if the experience was memorable. However, this was far from memorable. We spoke to one another about our thoughts of dinner later that evening and we both concluded . . . we should have went to Gary Danko, Acquerello, or Jardiniere to name a few !!! The meal was just O.K. and having to wait 15 to 20+ minutes (for the next course) after plates were cleared (3+ hours for 7 courses) was a little much. The staff were very nice, but amateur at best for what this restaurant is trying to pull off.

There isn't anything bad I could say about our experience here. They accommodated me as a vegetarian WITH wine pairings. . . and it was perfect. Every bite was unique and so well thought out. Interesting flavor combinations. The homemade breads were delicious. It's nice to know that the ingredients come from their own farm in Santa Cruz. The service was impeccable, as well - it didn't feel stuffy or overbearing. We had such a wonderful time! We will absolutely be back!

I was slightly disappointed for a 1 star Michelin restaurant. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary. Nothing wrong with the food in general, but the amuse bouches lacked, not very innovative, come on, 3 different pieces of bread?? All was in black, the tablecloths, the wait staff all in black, the place is small and dark already, it did not help we were seated at a table way in the back near the stairs, where light was even worse and right next to the stairs where the wait staff constantly goes back and forth. I had looked forward to be able to see what was going on in the kitchen as I had read about but from our vantage point not visible at all. Due to all that the ambiance lacks as well. It could use some color to make you feel happy.

Quite small (I think like 14 tables), and just down off Nob Hill, the place is charming and intimate. But the story is the food! Prix Fixe at $98/person, $158 with wine pairings, sure isn't cheap, but even with the small portions, almost any one of the seven courses is worth the price. Each was unique and melt in your mouth delicious, a non-stop series of "Mmmmmm"s and "wow"s. They have their own farm in Los Gatos, and the freshness of the veggies is incredibly evident. And if you are a bread lover, prepare for a new affair! I am still savoring the cumin toast with which they start you off. I'd guess you can tell that we 'll be returning to this gem soon and often.

Top 10 meals ever, in every respect. And we have eaten at many restaurants including Gary Danko, Saison, and other top notch places. The service was ideal and the food..oh my gosh the food....perfect. Gorgeous, delectable, every bite an experience in my mouth. We had the wine pairing which was divine. No pretentious wait staff (actually the polar opposite of pretentious). Every person wished me a happy birthday when we arrived - but in a low key, very appropriate kind of way as a greeting. The restaurant atmosphere itself is lovely. I can't say enough good things about our dining experience. Can't wait to return.
