A word from Sons & Daughters
Sons & Daughters is influenced by the seasons, unique elements of their garden, and the surrounding bay area. The approach to the food is thoughtful, delicate, and displays clarity of ingredients. Our tasting menu is 98 dollars.
The garden is located on one acre in Los Gatos, California and contains expansive boxes, a greenhouse and an orchard. The restaurant’s garden grows a variety of flowers, greens, herbs, vegetables, fruits and snails specifically for Sons & Daughters.
The wine program is unique, with wines that balance, enhance and pair the light and playful food. The 28 seat dining room is welcoming and wraps around a lively open kitchen which plays an active role in the dining experience.
Thank you.

Food was flavorful but reached a new low in portion size and protein content. The service was very good and the breads were excellent. It would go a long way to have more bread available. Without the bread, probably would have left hungry after a very expensive meal. Won't be back.

Sons & Daughters offers a variety of dishes with unique pairing of ingredients and wines. Each dish has a unique flavor, and offers a true culinary experience. We had the 7course dinner with the wine pairing and was impressed with each dish. The wine pairings with each course complimented the dish and ingredients. This is a perfect restaurant for a romantic night out and have a true dining experience. The staff was very attentive and provided insight into each of the dishes and the wines; allowing us to understand the pairing of wine for each dish. This was a truly outstanding experience and we will be returning!

Everything at this place says welcome. Fresh. Humble perfection. No broadcast about repeat Michelin stars. Straightforward "Here. Taste this." No choices. Just 7 or 8 beautiful offerings of California's wonderful vegetables, fruit, flowers, delicate fish. You get it. The fact is, I am from North Carolina. I dined here 3 times before Michelin noticed these lovely people. Sons and Daughters gave me a way to talk about what food should be. It is solidly itself and the most hopeful 2 hours of eating I have ever experienced. They grow the elements, lift them to heights of art, in a tiny shoulder to shoulder kitchen. Servers quietly watch each plate in the room and signal "Next" to the line. A local favorite. To me, a national treasure.

We have dined at a few Michelin and (almost) Michelin restaurants over the last few years and our experience at Sons & Daughters was excellent. No a la carte options, just a fantastic tasting menu with local ingredients and an original and great wine pairing to go with it. Open kitchen creates a great ambiance and service is what you can expect from a place like this. Overall great experience.

Then only thing that is keeping me from giving Sons and Daughters 5 stars is the small portion sizes. For the price you pay for food you at least expect to not be hungry after 7 courses but my husband ate 3 slices of leftover pizza when we arrived home after our dinner. I was fine but the portions are very small. The food was excellent, the staff outstanding. We did the wine pairing and since the restaurant is so small and several tables were at the same course we had to wait for our squab and finished the wine that was suppose to be served wit the squab, they refilled our glasses with that pairing without any issues. Overall a great experience but we will probably not go back due to the small portions.

The best way to experience this restaurant is to let them do what they do best! We had no special dietary needs and had the wine pairings with each course. The wait staff was knowledgeable and excited about the menu. Each course was prepared with an assortment of items we knew but we were very delighted to find new items we had never tried. Every course was a tasty surprise with a wine pairing that accented and contrasted the items very nicely. We are already planning a trip back to sample another season.

The food is excellent. Wine pairings are perfect. The downside: We had our reservation at 8:45. We had to wait 40 minutes for our table to be ready. They sent us to the bar at the Marriott to wait while the table was ready. As the night advanced and it got late, we perceived service was provided in a hurry to finish and leave soon. As soon as we finished, they asked for a cab, and rushed us out the place.

This is our favorite restaurant for special occasions. The food is fabulous, the wait staff is ideal - knowledgeable and there when you want them but never hovering. A small, but smart, unpretentious restaurant and it's quiet like no other restaurant we've been to in the city. It serves a prix fixe meal that is delicious and creative and offers perfect wine pairings. It's not cheap, but it's a great value. It is totally comfortable to linger and talk with no pressure to move on.

My best meal in San Francisco. Such innovative use of ingredients, produce driven but full or layers of flavor and texture. The charred shallots were great and I'd never had ice plant before. The little pops of finger limes added so much. Will recommend to everyone heading for SF.

We had a lovely dinner. Our only complaint was it was a super hot evening in SF (90) and the restaurant had no air conditioning. We enjoyed each course. So unique in each dish and the plating was fun and original. We ordered a bottle of wine instead of the wine pairing. Definitely would return.

My wife and I spent our anniversary at Sons and Daughters. Everything was outstanding and what you'd expect from a Michelin starred establishment. The courses were beautifully and thoughtfully prepared. The only dish that did not blow me away was the first course, but only because I'm not a fan of gazpacho. But my wife loved it so I won't dock them for that. The only reason the ambiance didn't get 5 stars was because the restaurant is in a sketchy part of town, right across the street from a male strip club. Not their fault, but it takes a bit away from the dining experience when you look out the window and see a marquee with the phrase "Touch my junk" staring back at you.

After a great write-up in Food & Wine I made reservations to this farm-to-table restaurant. The fixed tasting menu (your only option: wine pairing) eliminated any need to worry about what to pick. The dishes, including an amuse bouche, were extraordinary. The flavors, colors, textures were amazing--beautifully presented. Compliments to the chef for creative use of ingredients, all sourced from a local farm owned by the restaurant, if I recall correctly. The wine pairings were great and offered some pleasant surprises. This is a MUST VISIT. Now, if only I could have gotten the married couple next to us who sounded like, without hyperbole, they were on the verge of divorce to have just SHUT UP we could have REALLY enjoyed our dinner...

Requested for a salt free meal ( because of health issue ) for myself, request was sent when I make the booking on Opentable, then follow by email reply on the confirmation from the restaurant, and again when we arrived at the restaurant, the waiter said they have received the request. However, I don't think the meal was prepared salt free or at least low salt, very disappointed. If the restaurant do not prepare salt free meal, would be nice at least they can inform me they can't accommodate to special need or request.

Great dining experience. Small cozy restaurant. We were shown to a waiting room in the back when we arrived 10min early. Food portions were fine dining size but through the courses we didn't at all hungry or feel stuffed like some multiple course tasting menu restaurants. Menu had the party's name printed which was a small but nice touch. Kitchen is tiny and open in the middle of the dining room-which means their chefs must be on point and flawless to work together in a tight space via whispers. All courses were delicious especially the squab which looked rare but cooked to perfection. Simple tomato soup couldn't have been more fresh and refined.

They were polite about accommodating my and my girlfriend's food preferences. They were forgiving when we arrived almost 30 minutes late. They were attentive to details of life as if we were their friends -- wished my GF happy birthday (even on the menu card) and made sure we were finished in time for my flight out of town. And then there was the food. Excellent craft work in flavor and presentation. Highly recommended.

What a special an memorable experience. We had to wait an extra 30 minutes for our table, but between a complementary glass of rose and their cool quirky waiting room we didn't mind. The food was outstanding, service impeccable. Attention to detail on every plate was incredible, and they were super accommodating of my vegetarian needs, and any allergies our group had. The cornbread toast might have been one of the best things I've ever tasted. The one thing I would improve is the wine selection. It was ok, but certainly not the best I've seen. I understand they probably want to push their pairings with the food, but we opted for a bottle and were underwhelmed. A sommelier would be a nice touch to go with the over-the-top experience.

Sons & Daughters was the perfect dinner spot to kickoff my very first visit to San Francisco. The menu was so diverse and the wine pairings fit beautifully with each dish. Even my dinner mate agreed-- and it wasn't easy to convince him to spend $$$ on dinner. The service is spectacular. The host, hostess and servers are so attentive. They even came up with a list or things to do while we were in San Fran. We left feeling full of delicious food. Will definitely be returning when I'm next on the west coast.

My wife and I chose the nights food and wine pairings. 6 well prepared courses with locally sourced items. The wines, however, were from all over the world - starting with a lovely rose champagne and ending with tawny port. The service is a collective effort. We were in San Francisco for 3 days and I wanted to plan a special dinner. I found some info on Sons and Daughters and it sounded interesting. As it is a set menu, they ask in advance if you have any allergies or food dislikes and they worked around those exclusions. The food was beyond delicious and presentation was stunning...each dish was better than the last. We chose to have the wine selections with the various dishes and the wines were excellent, as well. Many people think a "tasting menu" is tiny portions but that is not the case here....portions were more than enough. We found the service to be excellent and servers were very knowledgeable about the menu. It is well worth the money for a special dinner.
