  • "The Sonora Room never disappoints. We had a wonderful lunch on the patio overlooking the vineyards. The duck confit was exceptional and the great food and wine was complimented with the best service we have had in the valley. Be back soon !"

  • "We truly enjoyed my birthday dinner on the patio last night. The food was so gorgeous, we had to take photos. In addition, it all tasted amazing - cooked to perfection and so much tought for each element that went into each dish. The service was also fabulous."

  • "We spent our anniversary dinner at Burrowing Owl. The food, scenery, and the entire atmosphere was outstanding. A very special night - thank you to the staff and chef! Liz and Larry"

  • "We were there for our anniversary and unfortunately were sandwiched between a noisy group of kids who kept running around during dinner and a table behind us who were quite loud. We have been there before and were hoping for the same ambience. The food is good not great. Not the best winery food I have ever had but it is artfully put together and the amazing wine makes up for what the food lacks. The service was amazing."

  • "We had an amazing time at this restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing and our server Ron, was fantastic. He answered all our questions and what he didn't know he found out. We will absolutely be returning to experience this again. It is now on the bucket list to stay at the little hotel there that they have on site. Views were incredible."

  • "This was our second time here. The first being in 2009. We reconfirmed how amazing the experience was. Living on Vancouver Island makes our visits unfortunately few and far between. Everything was wonderful from service, to food, to wine and of course location. Absolutely a wonderful way to end our getaway with a meal at your restaurant. Thanks!"

  • "Part of a three day tour of food and wind with friends. Wonderful location hidden among the vines with views over the valley. Food enjoyable with great service."

  • "We were very pleased by our starters and both had the duck confit for the main course--which is the best we've ever had. However, someone didn't understand pacing in a fine dining restaurant. So we had a glass of sparkling wine to begin, then our appetizers showed up with an accompanying wine. Got that finished and almost immediately the main course and the wine for it showed up. Give us a little time please--we're not in a hurry."

  • "I have to say that the antipasto platter was the best we have ever had!!! Thank you. Meals delicious too but we especially loved all the variety on the platter!"

  • "Our second dinner there in consecutive years. Food overall was very good. Beautifully presented and extra points for using local products and their originality. Had some issues with a common dietary restriction, but altogether quite good. Service also very good. incredibly pleasant and professional staff. A few things when asked for took quite a while. There were moments when the pace lagged and other tables around had similar items arrive quite a bit before our table, but overall very good. The view and patio is stunning, one of the best in the Okanagan. However the inside of the room is old and dated. Looks like it was decorated in the early 90's and needs updating Overall very nice dinner, very pricey @ $100 per person with tip & tax."

  • "A friend and i enjoyed a lovely lunch on the patio. The food was really good, the views were spectacular and the service was the best we have received in the valley. Love the new patio tables and chairs !"

  • "Since it was overcast on the day my company from Eastern Canada and I dined we were not able to really experience the fabulous view from the restaurant. The overall experience was still very positive. The server was very friendly and professional. We all very much enjoyed the meal."

  • "The service is always fantastic and particularly so this time. The food was outstanding, I had the cioppino and my husband had the halibut. The view is always spectacular. We have been many times and will be back for sure!"

  • "It was our first time to the Okanagan and we celebrated our 9 year anniversary at the Sonora Room although the food and the atmosphere were absolutely amazing it was our server Romina who really made the evening memorable. We will be recommending it to family and friends and will definitely dine here again when we come back. "

  • "We enjoyed a lovely lunch overlooking the Osoyoos Valley. The food was very good. We started with the Anitpasti platter, which was fresh and local. The duck which is one of their signature dishes was excellent. Definitely recommend it for lunch on a wine touring day in the Okanagan. "

  • "the food was generally top quality except my beef was a bit stringy and chewy. The staff was not co-ordinated. The food arrived five minutes before the glass of wine that was paired with my meal."

  • "We decided to dine at the Sonora Room after hearing rave reviews from more than one source and can I say that I am glad we decided to follow their advice! Our meals were cooked to perfection and our server suggested the perfect wine pairing which topped off our evening. The atmosphere allows for conversation and the view will leave you with a smile and appreciation for the surrounding area. We will be back to dine at the Sonora Room the next time we are in the area!"

  • "My Mom lives in Oliver and we've eaten at the Sonora Room before but our lunch on Mother's Day was perfect. Mom started with a glass of Sumac Ridge Stellar's Jay to celebrate the day. We shared the Antipasti Platter, such a variety and locally sourced. We were seated at the corner table which offered views up and down the valley--the best seats in the house! Each table has it's own heater that the staff can turn off individually. We both chose the Seafood Cioppini and we weren't disappointed. The broth was well rounded with a nice spiciness. The staff didn't rush us and honoured us by taking the requested photos. They really set the tone for a great Mother's Day. Thank you to the staff of the Sonora Room!"

  • "My husband was happy with his goat cheese salad and prosciutto-wrapped salmon (though he would have liked more vegetables), I enjoyed the best cioppino I have ever had, and we shared a dessert of ice cream with fresh fruit garnish. Service was very good, everything was beautifully presented, and the view over the Burrowing Owl vineyards on a beautiful spring day made for a special evening in the Okanagan Valley. "

  • "We enjoyed very special and friendly attention from our servers for a recent birthday dinner. Our halibut and duck leg confit mains were both outstanding. We shared a half litre of the 2006 Burrowing Owl Syrah which is delicious and regrettably no longer available outside the restaurant. Our hazelnut cheesecake and chocolate ganache desserts were also memorable."

  • "For anyone wanting a winery, restaurant and accommodation experience, Burrowing Owl is a MUST. Everything at this winery is First Class and the view over the valley and vineyards is extraordinary. This is located on Black Sage Road between Osoyoos and Oliver."

  • "Our experience was one to remember, the staff were amazing. Being in the hospitality business myself these are the points I look out for. The food, presentation and ambience was 1st class. We will not hesitate to recommend the Sonara Room Restaurant. Thank you for a wonderful experience."

  • "We had a long and wonderful lunch on the weekend. Food and service were tops. Its a bit pricey (90.00 for lunch including 1/2 liter of great merlot) but well worth it."

  • "The last time my wife and I had supper at the Sonora Room restaurant was late summer 2003, and like then, I can't say enough positive things. Wonderful food and wine, exceptional view and ambiance, and great service. We appreciate the care shown by the chef and sommelier working closely together. The pairings were perfect between the food and wine, from the appetizers to dessert. The menu is a perfect size with choices. The little unexpected things like the mushroom soup or the chocolate dipped in slated caramel were a delightful surprise. The staff were second to no one in their attention to care and service. 3 hours went by far too quickly. We promise we won't wait 11 years to come back."

  • "We were in the South Okanagan for the Valentine's Weekend and were glad that the Sonora Room was open especially for that weekend. It was a fixed menu with good selections. We look forward to returning when we can enjoy the outdoor ambience. We really enjoyed the wine choices by the glass. The service was exceptional."

  • "Second time at the restaurant, still thoroughly enjoyed the experience but feel that our previous experience was much better in terms of food. Maybe because we went at the height of summer the last time vs low season (mid-April) this time around."

  • "Wine, food preparation, food presentation, and taste were unbelievable! The perfect attentive service from our lovely waittress was greatly appreciated. The view, full moon, and mesmorizing harp player made for a perfect romantic evening. The salmon and duck dinners were so delicious, along with the soup, salad, creme brulee, and the squash cappacino as an appertif. Exceeded our very high expectations, the same as their merlot and pinot gris wines always do."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "This was the second time having dinner at this restaurant and it again was amazing! Enjoyed a 2006 burrowing owl pinot noir which i highly recommend!! Dinner was wonderful as it was previously. Highly recommend sitting out on the patio if it is nice outside as the view was amazing- also really cool that you could see the chef picking herbs and flowers for your meal."

  • "Some of the earlier reviews note spotty service, I can imagine that could occur here but we lucked out on a busy Saturday night and had a top notch experienced server, no newbies in sight. Great experience, lovely late summer evening on the patio and a packed inside. Food was very good, steady, not mind blowing. The real reason to go to this place is the library wine selection you cannot get in the tasting room - 10 year old Cab Sauvs and Francs are a couple notches above anything else around. In the top 2 or 3 places in the southern Okanagan."

  • "We were in Okanagan picking up wine. Previously we had lunch with friends at Burrowing Owl. Decided to try it for dinner since we had heard nothing but good. Needless to say we were not disappointed. Made a reservation but really no need. Because of the time of year we were the only folks in the restaurant. Personal service by the manager and the chef. Wonderful experience."
