Disappointing special ceviche appetizer, which was more liquid than shrimp. But yummy tasting. And these guys were so nice, they gave us a dessert to share! We had several items from the tapas menu all of which were delectable. My husband and I had cocktails which were equally delicious. The service was great; the waiters and waitress were very attentive without being overwhelming. Sonora's a little pricey, but worth every penny. We elected to share tapas so that we can sample many dishes. Each dish was amazing and so flavorful. Even after we were full, we ordered one more dish. We even enjoyed the music they played. We had never been to Sonora before but the menu was enticing and offered many selections. When we first looked at the building, we kind of wondered if we had made a mistake. Once we walked in however, the entire atmosphere changed and the ambiance of the restaurant was noticeable.
It was nicely decorated and the restaurant although filled, was quiet and inviting. We sat in the first dining room (I think they have 3 different sections). The wait staff was excellent and very attentive to our party. It was as though we were the only guests in the room. The skirt steak is marinated and is topped with a cooked quail egg. The paella is not overpowered by the rice. The margaritas are marvelous! Great ambiance, great service. It is one of our favorite Westchester restaurants.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Place so far!I decided to try this restaurant for Restaurant Week for the 1st time. I made an EXCELLENT choice!! I was very glad that I selected this place! the ambiance was very nice, we were the first ones there, the service was fantastic and we never really had to ask the waiters for anything as they were always around to ask "if we needed anything." I gave this place 5 stars just for the service alone. The food and drinks were great as well especially the skirt steak appetizers, the free range chicken dinner and seafood paella. The cheesecake was exceptional. My husband had the tapas from the regular menu - coconut shrimp and skirt steak on flatbread, both wonderful.
The drinks were good too.

Menu is constantly changing so there is always something new to try. My only complaint is that while dining here during Restaurant Week we were not offered the special Restaurant Week menu until we specifically asked for it. We started with two pitchers of white sangria which was lovely. The appetizers were just the right size, tasty and creative. My paella was not warm enough and needed a kick but I shared a chicken dish with spinach mashed potatoes that was divine. The deserts were a rich, flourless cake that was gooey and good and delightfully fresh sorbets. The cheesecake was reported to be excellent. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The service was outstanding - the staff is very well mannered and appropriately attired. The bar is small, but adequately stocked and professionally tended. Crisp white tablecloths on all the tables. A mix of modern and classic latin pop music permeated the air without being too loud.
The food was outstanding - perfectly prepared, seasoned and presented - I was very impressed. And as delicious as it looked. Portions were appropriately sized, yet I still managed to take some of the main course home for afters. Wine menu was more extensive than expected, but not overly so.

Those who had the tapas were very pleased. I had the filet and it was excellent. I recently had the vegetarian paella and my wife had the seafood paella they both were great. The wine list is well design with some unknow but great wines and the service was vey attentive. Prices were reasonable.
