When they say they have a big wine list, they do. It's a massive page with both glasses and bottles, widely varied in price. Intimidating, but the waiters are great at recommending something to your tastes and in your budget. Then, the food. Seasonal, mostly local, and very tasty. I had duck, and it was astounding. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, with a wonderful glaze, flavorful stir fried veggies and surprisingly tasty rice. Desert was great too, very simple but elegant cheesecake. Their food was outstanding, fresh and unique. We really enjoyed trying a selection of tappas plates rather than commit to one entree. The tapas platter for two for $22 was excellent. The wine selection is very good, although they are marking up their wine by about 400%, which seems a bit much. We were seated promptly at 6:00 and had plenty of time to make it to our engagement in the theater district at 7:45.

Was most impressed by the friendliness of the staff, particularly the young man who waited on me -- I believe his name was Kevin. He understood how to make polite and pertinent conversation, and was also very attentive without being disruptive. I'm glad I consulted Trip Advisor about where to eat downtown ... it always does me good, and this was much better than good, it was great! It is by far one of the few in this city that holds its own (or at least that I can compare) to New York (Manhattan) restaurants. I have dined here on several occasions; certain menu items have been better than others, but the service is always phenomenal, and the wine list fantastic. The waitstaff are very knowledgeable and go out of there way to deliver quality service. The restaurant offers a seasonal menu which is always nice. While the restaurant was mostly empty, our server came over and asked if we were ready to order because it was going to get busy soon and he didn't want us to miss our show. We didn't really believe him, but ordered anyway, and he was absolutely right as the place began filling up almost as soon as he walked away from our table. I had the "Big Red" flight, and the pours were very generous, with some spendy wines. The filet special was outstanding, and next day's lunch (duck mac 'n'cheese) was heavenly. We thoroughly enjoyed the Med Plate - especially the beet and yogurt dip! We had the Indonesian Glazed Duck - enjoyed every bite of it - the Study of Hog - the variety of the three different flavors was awesome and the chunks of pork and the pork belly was excellent - the recommended dish by the Chef - the Veal Medallions, was excellent. It was pretty busy, most tables filled and Happy Hour groups in the bar area but the noise level was fine. Service was by far the absolute BEST we have found in Pittsburgh. Our waiter suggested a Seasonal Flatbread to start with that was delicious. For an entree we ordered the mixed grill with a crabcake (excellent)and tempura shrimp (the batter on two of the four large shrimp was slightly doughy but still delicious. The tomato basil pasta that came with it was perfect, very flavorful. For dessert our waiter suggested a Peanutbutter Creme Brulee with a berry sorbet. The whole thing tasted like PB&J, EXCELLENT. I would go back again and again just for that!
