  • "We have been to Sonoma Grille numerous times and have not been disappointed. Nice wine list, many offered by the glass. Friendly service. Focus is on fresh and flavorful ingredients. We were able to sit outside on a very pleasant afternoon."

  • "Good food and service. Menu is a bit confusing but our waiter help us out and explained everything in detail. Tapas platter was a good choice and it is for two. Was not a fan of the bread and the butter did not have much flavor, although it is Sonoma's specialty."

  • "Sonoma and the Big-Y group never disappoint. From food to service to drinks, they do it all top notch!"

  • "Sonoma is our restaurant to celebrate special occasions, the food, service and ambience are consistently good year after year. We highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "OMG 1st of all....my hubby HATES to go to places downtown. I had received a gift card for Sonoma and I planned on using this for our anniversary. Well all I can say, my hubby is totally SOLD on this place. We started off with a glass of wine. Then we both ordered the Chowder. It arrived in a bread bowl. O M G ! We have been to New England, and this chowder can definitely stand against any I have ever had before! My food was to die for! My hubby ordered lamb and I dont eat it. I did have a taste and I would have never believed it to be lamb at all! We were presented with 2 glasses of champagne for our anniversary on the house! We were both very pleased and cant wait to try Sunday brunch!"

  • "Sonoma Grille has a great wine list and is good for brunch, but lunch and dinner are a little disappointing for the price...except for a couple of exceptions. It's quiet and has great service. Good for quiet dinners but not if you're looking for a vibrant bar scene."

  • "Had a very good experience at this restaurant. Our very knowledgeable waiter, extensive wine list, great service."

  • "While in "the Burg" this is a must do if you are into fresh farm to table. Pittsburgh only has a couple places with the opportunity to enjoy great food like Sonoma Grill. Conveniently near the theater district. The chef creates amazing entrees as well as sides. You gotta go."

  • "Tables are too close so noise level is disturbing. Food was good. Serive was very attentive."
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "The food was amazing! We had the tapas for 2 appetizer and I don't think I could pick one that was the best because they were all that good! I really liked my wine and my rye crusted salmon was delicious. The service was spectacular as well!"

  • "We had a very pleasant jazz brunch with very good food and a wonderful server Kelsey. Recommend the crab tian!"
    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "The waiter was very knowledgable and personable. The food was amazing. The wine recommended was so smooth. The cheesecake was the best I have ever had."

  • "Food was great. Wonderful vegetables and salmon. We sat outside and that was fun. Beautiful night. Loved it."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "Eric M did a great job in very busy conditions during the Jazz Crawl. Ambience was very pleasant--live jazz. Food is delicious and sustainably and locally sourced. Only negative--they need to update their website."

  • "This was an excellent meal during JazzFest. A nice addition to my stay at the Marriott Courtyard. The location is perfect. It is within walking distance to most cultural venues. The appetizer platter is impressive."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Excellent menu, service and food. Not a place to go for quiet conversation . Noise level is high but great food overcomes all!"
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "We booked reservations as soon as we got tickets to see Eddie Izzard. Our waiter was wonderful, and was able to discuss wines with us in good detail. Started the evening off with the tapas for two, which filled me up a good bit so I had an appetizer for my dinner course. My husband has the venison and it was very good, perfectly done. I wish I saved room for dessert, next time I will. On a side note, they had only 2 roses on the list which was a little shocking."

  • "I really enjoyed the experience, and the food was great. I have to say that the speed of food delivery is slower than most restaurants. Some of us started to look at our watches, wondering what was taking so long. This is the second time I experienced it. And the restaurant wasn't crowded."

  • "Came here after theater for dinner. Was quiet when we arrived, but as more people were seated, particularly the large table close to us, conversation across the table became difficult. Christie, our waitress, was excellent, checking with us every so often but not often enough to be intrusive. Menu, which we knew from the website, is limited compared to other restaurants in the cultural district. Food was OK butghtly overpriced considering ingredients and portion size. Nothing special enough about Sonoma to warrant returning on our next trip to Pittsburgh."

  • "The food and service were fabulous! The staff are very helpful for those who have food allergies. They will modify just about any recipe to accommodate intolerance to gluten, etc. The food was innovative and every bite was delicious. Next time we're in Pittsburgh, we'll be back!"

  • "We all tried the mixed grille and were not disappointed, but I'd recommend the entree list instead for the best quality. Soup chef is amazing. Our waiter was excellent with wine suggestions and they even discounted our bottle of wine after they ran out of the bottle we requested."

  • "I have been to Sonoma a number of times. We have consistently had good service; and consistently had good food. Live Music on Friday--was not expecting that. There were 4 of us for dinner on Friday. We ordered, soup, salads, apps, and for the entrees: Tenderloin, Venison, Duck, and Filet. The early courses were all very good. The Duck and the Filet were very much enjoyed as well. However, the Tenderloin and the Venison only received so-so reviews from the others in our party. We then finished the evening with dessert: the Trio and the Creme Brulee. The Trio was quite small, though very good. We didn't care much for the Brulee. Overall, we had a good dining experience."

  • "Our waiter was a very amiable young man but service was slow and disruptive."

  • "The tapas for two appetizer was amazing as was the scallop entree! Jim was our waiter and had some great recommendations- both wine and food. Even the support wait staff were great. We will definitely be back:-)"

  • "I decided to plan a business lunch at Sonoma Grille as a change of pace from my usual lunch restaurants downtown. Never again!! We only ordered an entree course and our food did not arrive for over an hour. Nobody informed us of a delay, we were just ignored. My colleague ordered hot tea, only to be served hot water with no tea bag. By the time she tracked down service, the water was cold. Getting the bill was also another wait, and we all left saying "never again...""

  • "Sonoma Grille is a wonderful place to dine. The brunch menu has lots of flavorful options. Our waiting staff was attentive and very pleasurable. Also during the Sunday brunch a amazing band entertains with lively yet smooth music. This restaurant is for sure on my favorite list!"

  • " Food was just mediocre and pricey. Five scallops for $28 and each one on a tablespoon of potatoes. desserts limited. specials gone by 8pm. dining room could have used some color. Overbearing waiters.....there every 10 minutes and felt rushed."

  • "Outstanding as always! A a lovely dining experience."

  • "While the Sonoma Grille has the go-to menu items guys especially expect like great burgers and steak, it also has interesting new things to try like the tian, a stacked vegie item that's trendy right now, halloumi cheese that I loved when I visited Cypress, and funky names of dishes that are fun to try. Not your same-old, same-old. And it's right there in the theater district! Gotta love Sonoma Grillle!"

  • "We ordered the Naan appetizer, which was very good! We also both ordered the Rye Salmon entree; this too was very good. Our service was great as well. We had a very enjoyable evening. There were a couple instances of other servers being confused. We had two other servers try to give us items that were actually intended for other tables. It was kind of funny. Our thoughts were that both of those people were new."

  • "This was our first visit to Sonoma and we would return. Wonderful service, and very welcoming atmosphere. The wait staff really know their food!"

  • "We had an excellent meal. Everything was delicious and the wine steward helped us pick out a wonderful wine that complimented our meals. We were seated at a talbe of 4 near the kitchen in the back of the restaurant which I did not care for. We missed out on the ambiance of the restaurant. However, I changed my seat, facing away from the kitchen entrance, and then it was not quite as bad. "

  • "Food was very good. Wine list is extensive. The atmosphere helps make the experience. "

  • "I selected Sonoma Grill as a last resort because all of the new, hip restaurants were booked. For the price, the food is just okay. Wine list is extensive and wait staff is knowledgeable. Restaurant closes early on Friday and they borderline kick you out or make you feel rushed"
    Dined on 5/16/2014
  • "The food was delicious. The mixed grill has some wonderful fish and seafood options. Can choose 1, 2, or 3 items; we chose 2 and that was plenty of food. Together, two of us tried tempura shrimp, ahi tuna, and crab cake, and they were all very good. Our server was attentive, warm, and had a great sense of humor. Overall, an excellent evening."

  • "Great food- attentive staff-overwhelmingly large wine list and within a short walk to the theater... Our 4th time here- and it gets better each time!"
