A word from Sonoda's Sushi & Seafood
Sonoda's has perfected the art of seafood and sushi preparation. If you wanted seafood any fresher…you would have to catch it yourself!
Sonoda's has been serving Denver's freshest sushi and seafood ever since owner Kenny Sonoda opened his first location in Aurora over fifteen years ago. His dynamic and creative sushi chefs continue to surprise even the most discriminating sushi lover. With the freshness of his sushi (orders of fresh fish are flown in daily from around the globe) and artful presentation of classic Japanese dishes like Tempura, Sonoda's has gained strong popularity in Denver.
Sonoda's has four Denver metro locations and all share the common thread of a lively atmosphere, smooth service, sushi that melts in your mouth and a Japanese seafood menu you won't soon forget.
Sonoda's invites you to come experience classic sushi served the way it's supposed to be.

Our waitress was very slow my wife finished her drink before I even got mine Her excuse was the bartender was behind by fifteen minutes? then I ordered 1 4 piece tuna sashimi it took until we were half way through our dinner for it to show up while the table next to us had ordered after us and got 2 rolls before I got mine. The service was terrible but the food was very good once we got it.

I made a reservation at Sonoda's for my birthday and they really took care of me! They accommodated our large party, were very organized and confirmed my reservation, provided great service, and made me feel special by knowing/celebrating me and welcoming my guests. I had a really great time eating great sushi with great friends.

Salmon sushi was very fresh, tuna not as much but we were there to satiate our udon craving and Sonoda did not disappoint. The broth was extremely flavorful, the udon noodles perfectly cooked. The shrimp tempura was delicious but rather small in size so would have preferred jumbo shrimp. Vegetable tempura was very tasty. Ambiance is very casual and quiet which was exactly what we were looking for after a long hike in the mountains. Service was very warm and friendly. Would definitely recommend and will return on our next trip back to Denver!

We've eaten at Sonoda's Park Meadows many times and love it. This was our first time to the Downtown Denver location. It was absolutely perfect!! Our server was attentive without being overwhelming. She made sure she took our order correctly by referring back to the menu and clarifying what we wanted. The timing of the meal was also spot on! We had the tempura and teriyaki dinners with miso soup and salad. Here's the big thing - We ordered a gluten free california roll to go. Our server took extra time to ensure that there wasn't any gluten. She went through the ingredients and made sure it was made with real crab and no soy sauce. It was so nice to have a server not assume that it was gluten free. Thanks for a great Anniversary dinner!!

If you are looking for high class dining with snooty people around you - this is not for you. If you are looking for GREAT sushi and unbelievable, friendly service - look no further. I went her by myself and the hostess gave me a table in the back so I could have some privacy. My server never forgot about me, my tea and water were always full and she gave me the best recommendation - the lava roll! My mouth is still watering three days later thinking about this roll. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem!!!

The sushi at Sonoda's was good. The rolls are very large. I had 2 rolls and could barely finish them. Had the dragon roll and the poki roll. Both very tasty. However, there is no atmosphere or ambiance. The building is old, not well kept, and really nothing special about it. Go there for the food, it's very good, but not for the atmosphere.

I love this location. Iv'e always thought it was the best one. It's quiet but not silent. Intimate, light and cozy atmosphere. Not too crowded & good for a date night with your favorite person; table or the sushi bar. It's also pretty easy to get a table and it's close to the mall but not stuffed with a ton of mall crowds. It's a hidden (not kidding here) gem of fresh, tasty sushi rolls (my favorite, the Lava roll, is *FAn-tastic!) tucked beyond the very crowded parking lot of the shopping center next to IKEA. I hope they don't let you (or me) down because every time we go it's great staff, food, atmosphere and conversation. Perfect for weekend lunch or dinner.

I just recently discovered Sonoda's a few months back and I've returned a few times since! Overall it is my favorite place for sushi. I have never had a bad meal here and it is very reasonably priced. For two people you can spend $50 on enough food to stuff you including drinks! The service is always friendly and never slow.

I had been dying to try the Sonoda's near my workplace, but opted to try the one on Market Street downtown and took a date. We ate in the basement, at a quiet little table adjacent to the sushi bar. The only real drawback I would say was a few boxes hanging out past the aquarium in the corner, a result, I am sure, due to a lack of space for storage in the basement. The host and our server were both very polite, outgoing, very helpful, and smiled a lot, seemingly very genuine. Our waitress was a nice, soft-spoken, but not hard to hear, young woman of Asian decent, and was very attentive, polite, and on time. The cost of the bill between my date and I was a bit high, but to be expected when eating many fine specialty sushi rolls.

We went here for Girls Night, none of us had ever been. When we arrived the walked us downstairs to the restaurant and it was quite warm. We asked if we could sit at the outside and they quickly obliged. The waitstaff was fantastic, everyone was very nice! The sushi was good. We all had a great time outside but would have been miserable sitting downstairs. I hope their AC was just broken.

The food was good and there was nothing to complain about the service. The waiter was very attentive, and the sushi chefs were very nice since we sat at the sushi bar. If you see a review here from a lady complaining about not getting her custom-made scallop roll or whatever, ignore it. She kept asking for a roll that didn't exist on the menu, then wasn't willing to pay the cost of the custom roll (scallops are expensive!). The waiters and chefs were very apologetic, and I commend them for maintaining their composure and professionalism, since she threw a giant fit over one sushi roll. Now we know why she was dining alone . . . Anyways, all in all, it has a great atmosphere (especially since you get to dine in the basement).

    OpenTable Diner Since 2012

I though 5280 restaurant week was a occasion for restaurants to shine and show people what a great restaurant and selection of food they had. Sonoda was definitely not one of those, au contrary! The menue list sounded impressive and seems to give you a good selection of all the variety that the restaurant had to offer, instead you were served with the worst of the worst. The appetizer was good, but from there it all went south. The "supreme" box was merely a joke. Worst of all was the biff rolls, tasteless and chewy to the bone. I dare to say that I would have gotten more for my bucks by dropping by a Asian buffe place that also served some sushi. Would have been better if they served less but better stuff.

I only gave negative remarks here because you have to fill in something for the review to be accpeted. I really don't know how the food was or the service etc. We made a reservation and it was accepted so we assumed that the restaurant would be open but when we arrived it was closed. I'm glad it was only for lunch.

Sonoda's is one of my two favorite Japanese sushi restaurants in Denver. The food is tasty and the staff is always friendly and efficient. Conveniently located on 16th and Market Streets. I prefer the main level bar area for dining, because believe it or not, the noise level isn't as loud as the lowel level dining room. Plus, I can watch TV at the same time. Most importantly, the food is delicious. Sonoda's special recipe ginger salad dressing and miso soup is outstanding. Not into sushi? That's ok, the menu hosts a variety of meats, noodles, and vegetable dishes. The chicken Yakatori is the best in Colorado. Very tender with a mild yet super good teriyaki sauce. All reasonably priced. Highly recommended for downtown dining.
