Enjoyed a girls night out. Great
food and dancing!"

Service was a little slow
especially for a night that was not busy. I ordered steak and it came out on the colder side. I would have liked for it to be warmer"

I was told there would be
valentines prefix all weekend, but I guess I was misinformed. Otherwise, everything was good, the view is very nice and the service is good except for bringing out the wrong appetizer."
Dined on 2/15/2014
But the food is bland, which is
not good for Latin food. It does not need to be fried but you must be able to "taste" the food though the spices. This is what makes Latin food so good. Unfortunately it was lacking."

We had heard mix reviews for Son
Cubano. I am glad that we finally got to experience it for ourselves. The food was excellent, but you can't go there thinking that you are going to have authentic Cuban food. It has some dishes that can be considered authentic, but for the most part, no. The services leaves a lot to be desire. Our waiter claimed to be the "head waiter". Yet I tasted the wine, and then he went around filling the 3 other glasses and forgot to come back to me. They served an entire bottle of wine for 4 people in one shot. The glasses were filled to the top. Never came back to see how the food was. Again, the food was delicious, the place is beautiful, the view is breathtaking but service needs improvement."

Food was less than average.
. Waite staff was polite. However, they didn't come by table often. I frequently asked buss boys to get waiter come to table. Restaurant has a 2 hours limit on your dinner experience.. Thus, rushing through your dinner. I was asked to wrap it up and offered a round of drinks in exchange for our table before we ordered our dinner."
Dined on 1/24/2014
The service was impeccable but the
food was very bland. I was expecting richer flavored food from a restaurant specializing in Cuban cuisine. The dessert was great, I had the tres leche."

I dont know how to express it much
with Son Cubano. The food is amazing, everything about it. I stuffed my mouth. The passion fruit mojito gave me the best buzz (had 3). The guac and platano chips. I loove this spot and to make it even better the view to the city is perfect for a romantic dinner. Enjoy!"

Great food....great service.
....awesome time... can't wait to go again.."

We had dinner at Son Cubano, we
had high expectations, and unfortunately Son Cubano couldn't deliver. The Restaurant was very quiet when we came in, a friendly waitress show us our table. But the food wasn't that special what we hoped for. It was a very expensive dinner with no taste. I ordered steak and there was also no taste on it. It lays on a bed of dry beans with some linzes, not my taste. My kids didn't love it either. So it was bit a waste of money. Pitty we had very high expectations. It was our first and our last experience here."
Dined on 12/30/2013
This restaurant is definitely not
my scene... the focus is the club portion and not the restaurant. Clients are hurried through their meal and pushed to order more. Patrons at the bar constantly bump into tables where diners are eating, extremely annoying. The staff is extremely young and a tad unprofessional. The food was a disappointment, not nasty but not memorable."

It was my husband birthday so
special night. Reviewing restaurant obviously room with view of NYC attracted me and food. When I booked reservation, requested window table and asked to confirm email if not possible. They called to confirm, I again requested room and they told me it was noted. When we showed, the back room was booked for a party. Horrible, customer service. You can't tell me they didn't know a large party was booked and my request could not be honored. You could have been honest with me when you called to confirm reservation. I certainly understand window table can't be guaranteed, but when the entire room is not available, that should be noted when they call to confirm. We had a nice night, but not what I expected."

We always have a great time at Son
Cubano the staff is professional and friendly. They have great and friendly bartenders that always makes us feel welcome the manager Jalise is fantastic! My wife gave me my 50th birthday party at Son CUBANO and our friends and family are still talking about the wonderful experience they had. Thank you for a great time always Ernest & Schelly Peters"

Food was great and ambiance is
even better. Be prepared for noise because the place doubles as an after hours club. Good food and good music! You'll love the way they use tropical flavors such as guava in creative ways on many dishes. Very Cubano!"

The restaurant is beautiful and
the view is breath-taking. The food was good, but the service was lacking for such an upscale restaurant. We were a group of 8 celebrating my son's bday on a Monday night. Being a Monday the room was only half filled, but the service was slow and spotty. My daughter's request for a second glass of wine was forgotten and then when reminded, it still took another five minutes. Our food did not all come at the same time, with some of us waiting an unusual period of time. It's a shame because the place is beautifully decorated, and I only wonder what service would be like with a crowded dining room on a weekend. Will def give it another try, but hope that they read this review and improve those issues."

My wife and I were there for our
anniversary. The ambiance had a modern club feel. There was a 3 piece band, that was great. The menu has so many interesting dishes, that makes me want to come back again. I ordered the strip steak, which was cooked perfect. I would have liked some vegetables with it. I recieved rice and beans, and yucca fries. Everything was tastily but i felt that some veggies could have helped balance out the heavy steak and yucca. I have already recommended Son Cubano to a friend."

Second time to this restaurant and
it did not disappoint. Food is so good and the view of NYC is incredible. Went there for our 20th Wedding Anniversary and it is very romantic. Highly recommend to all."

THANKS TO MY FRIENDS !!! I HAD A
GREAT TIME!!! SON CUBANO IS THE BEST RESTAURANT IN NJ .....FOOD IS GREAT AND SERVICE IS EXCEPTIONAL ..."
Dined on 10/25/2013
The views are wonderful and the
menu is interesting. The place caters to the stereotypical NJ "new riche" the Housewives types (cash with no real class). The room is pretty and its a good place to take out of town clients so they can see the NJ they see on TV shows focusing on the state. Its a fun place to people watch, the service is good although the upselling by wait staff is very obvious. I'd like to see a more interesting drink menu the wine list is more than acceptable. They should focus more on the Cuban items."
Dined on 10/22/2013
The restaurant is beautiful.
However this is not a spot for foodies, perhaps a hot pick up joint. My steak had no flavor and my yuca fries were hard and raw on the inside. The waiter told me this is how they cook it....huh!!! Well anyway I won't be back at all. Oh and the service well the guy never even cracked a smile he looked like he was miserable to work there."
Dined on 10/21/2013
The place was decorated
beautifully, the view is amazingly beautiful and the food was delicious! Everything we ate from the appetizers to main course was delicious. The drinks were also good. A little pricey, but all the places along the river are so it is expected."
Dined on 10/20/2013
Food was subpar. For an
establishment as nice as it is, you would expect a little more."

l love the ambiance at Son Cubano.
The live band is always impressive and entertaining. While the employees seemed to be busy running in and out of the kitchen and the dining room, they are not productive. They just walked around talking to each other. My waiter was rude and seemed annoyed he had to serve my table. We were a party of 5. He began asking us 1 by 1 for drink, stopped after the 3 person and said any body else for drink. I had to direct him to my daughter at the end of the table. He knew nothing about the menu and was not willing to tell my daughter anything about the menu. Very disappointed, worst experience and I would not recommend this place to others."

I took my wife here for our 1yr
wedding anniversary and wanted to have a romantic dinner. The restaurant is great, the food was delicious and the service was outstanding.. The only downfall to this, was that we sat right next to the servers station, which was VERY uncomfortable. there was too much traffic by our table. My chair was bumped several times by the servers. that was one side of the table, we also had an issue with how close the next table was to ours. We were able to hear their conversation (they were loud-so this didn't help) this made me not want to have my own conversation. No intimacy at all. I understand restaurants want to use as much space as possible by cramming tables together, but you sacrifice some things by doing so."
Dined on 10/6/2013
good food but they seem to be in a
hurry to get us out of there."

My recent visit to Son Cubano New
Jersey was excellent. The food was amazing and the service and ambiance was impeccable. I would highly recommend this place to friends and I will definitely be back!"
Dined on 10/6/2013
This is a very nice restaurant.
However, I went on a Saturday hoping to get brunch but it's only served on Sundays. The website doesn't specify that brunch is served only Sundays. The food overall wasn't bad. The service wasn't bad either but we did feel it was a little rushed. Loved the view but unfortunately not a place i would keep on my "go back list""
Dined on 9/28/2013
The place itself is gorgeous -
service was fast, drinks were good - the food however, it was just okay - I got the chicken entree and it wasn't great. My friends split the paella - they also said it wasn't that good. The appetizers, we got guac and the spinach empanadas were very good. I probably would only go back to have appetizers and drinks."
Dined on 9/22/2013
I miss the "old feel" of the
original in NYC (now closed). Also, I felt a bit rushed (I found the fact that they made you order right away came across as pushy). I know it's a popular restaurant but patrons shouldn't feel rushed to eat and leave, especially since the prices are somewhat inflated for Cuban cuisine. I also found the place to be a little pretentious. I would likely return but now I have a different mindset of what to expect."

Me and my girlfriend had an
amazing time, food and music were amazing staff was great. just an overall great time"

Staff attempt hurry us throughout
the night, even though resturant was busy.We requested a table by the window so we could see NYC ,but staff said no,because the table was for four. There were about 4 tables by the window all empty. We were seated in a small table in between large tables.Squeezed in!My wife was so upset. This was our wedding anniversary, but none the staff even attempt to make it special by permitting us to sit by window.A few minutes later we notice couples sitting at the tables.!!!The hostess who were young girls ,need some training in customer service.Food was ok,nothing special. The food very pricey...The high price of the food, you think the service would outstanding but it wasn't close."
Dined on 9/2/2013
Love the decor, awesome views of
the city, and the sangria, but the food and the service are not close to the fine-dining price point they're putting out there. Our waiter was below-average. Somewhat knowledgeable on the menu offerings, but poor table prep, poor service timing, no silverware or plates, etc. Just stuff that is inexcusable for a price point like that. Then the food. Just meh. Tuna tartar was average. Other app was fried cheese with steak tips on a skewer. Again, meh. My entree was the Arroz Imperial with chicken. Not a great order, but a poorly put together dish in general. My girlfriend got the seafood special with various shellfish. It was overcooked...that's just silly. All in all, go for drinks and ambiance."
Dined on 8/24/2013
Ask for the premium wine list if
that's ur thing that night. Otherwise rum sangria pitcher -red is great $38.00. Peril. Service is impeccable. Always consistent."
Dined on 8/24/2013
I made reservations arrived 10mins
early and was told it would be a half hour wait. Luckily it wasn't I'm a stickler for promptness! Food and drinks are fantastic! Over all, a very nice restaurant!"
Dined on 8/17/2013
Great location, great bar scene
and view. Service is slow and unattentive but food is above average, Not authentic Cuban food but very good nonetheless."
Dined on 8/15/2013
It was our anniversary and the
waiter kept disappearing, i kept having to ask the bus boy for our waiter, the drinks were very light. I had to request them to be stronger which can happen, but once i ordered entrees (no appitzers) i figured our food will come out soon especially after two rounds of drinks. I dont mind being patient but when three large tables around us start getting food and they were sat after us, you start to lose patience. I again asked the busboy for our disappearing waiter and he didnt even realize that we still didnt have our dinner. It took an hour and the tables around us were already ordering coffee/dessert. I was very dissapointed. The food was good but the service and lack of it made me not want to come back."
Dined on 8/18/2013
Son Cubano is in a great location,
but that's the only reason to go there. The view of Manhattan is gorgeous and hopefully it will make up for the terrible food and below average service. We had tuna tartare for appetizer, and it was tasteless, the bread was dry and hard. The salmon and halibut were dry and also had no flavor. I guess the chef expects that the sauce he puts next to the fish makes up for it, but it doesn't. We had flan for dessert, a trio sampler of flan, only one of the flans were good. I thought you couldn't mess up flan, but here I stand corrected. I do want to emphasize that THE WAITERS SEEMED EAGER TO DO A GOOD JOB, THEY ARE JUST POORLY TRAINED."
Dined on 8/13/2013
It was a great outing. The place
was very energetic and live considering the live band and the many people having dinner there though it was still good romantic dinner. We didn't have a front view of the skyline because of where we were seated though I requested window seats. However, the food was pretty good and the prices were good. If you're on a budget it's good enough for $$. My favorite part was the walk along the waterfront after dinner the scenery later at night is amazing!!!!!"
Dined on 8/4/2013
Nice place, good food. Very
noisey. Would go back for drinks at the bar, but not dinner."
Dined on 8/11/2013
We had reservations for 9:15, got
there by 8:50 and was seated at 10:10 with us going to ask like 6 times where our table was. The managers were rude and the food was not good. The pork smelled horrid. The food is way overpriced. This place is nice, but overrated. Will not be going again."
