everthing was terrific top to bottom. Appies were fantastic , but the steelhead salmon with Quinoa salad was exquisite, some of the best salmon I have ever eaten. My guest had the duck she said it was also fantastic. Service was just perfect, nice wine list.

Another delicious meal at one of my favorite spots. Really enjoyed the Washington state red they offer by the glass, a nice surprise and very decently priced . The scallops here are hands down the best in the city! My steak was perfectly done and the onions rings were crunchy and tatsy, a perfect summertime meal. I must comment on how accommodating the staff are, efficient and never arrogant, a definite draw for us.

Had a fantastic time a Sommerville Wine Room. The food and service were both excellent. They were happy to take the time to tell us about the wines and how they may (or may not) pair with different foods and they introduced us to some truly remarkable wines. We will definitely go back!

We made a reservation for dinner before reading the reviews of this restaurant . After reading them we were unsure if we should go or cane cel our reservation. We decided to go. The appetizers were good, we had the goat cheese stuffed olives and the bison pate. The pate was good but we were a little disappointed with the crackers that came with it ( we would have liked to see something that had been prepared in house not crackers you can buy at the grocery store) the entrees were well prepared, Everyone enjoyed their selections( duck, steak and salmon) the waiter was friendly and attentive. With a little more effort this place could be a very nice little restaurant.

This is the fourth time I have visited Somerville's. I always have the duck, which has the most marvelous glaze. The kale salad is scrumptious! The wait staff is most accommodating from making sure the temperature is perfect to adjusting the music near our table. What I really like about this restaurant is the by-the-glass wine selection. There is a substantial variety of wines of good quality. My guests often drink a different kind of wine than I do; it is nice not to have to buy a bottle of wine to enjoy a nice glass of red or white. Sherry Somerville has always been a presence when I have dined there, and she is the perfect hostess. I wish this place was open for lunch!!

walking in, the restaurant is quaint, artsy, and elegant. we just came from a weekend of 5star dining, and wanted something similar but more relaxed. this was the perfect fit. excellent wine, beautifully presented by the charming owner/actress Sheri Sommerville, great appetizers which we continued ordering more of as the evening seemed perfect for 'tapas-style'. we did order a main course near the end of the night, and it was delicious. we would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes ambiance, wine, scrumptious food, and living local! Loved it!

We had a fairly good experience at Sommerville. Overall the food was good but not outstanding. Our ceviche appetizer was very flavourful but the shrimp were very overcooked (possibly due to the appetizer being missed - we did not receive it until our mains arrived). The lamb was well cooked but the sauce was relatively flat. The casserole was nicely done but very one note in flavour. The sorbet trio was good but the ginger cake was the highlight of the evening - moist and packed with multiple flavours that lingered on the palate after each bite. That dish alone is worth venturing out for.

From the moment we walked in and were greeted by Sheri (the owner), until we walked out two hours later, the experience was perfect. The “wine by the glass” options were happily uncommon and all four we tried were lovely. One of the people with us has a gluten allergy and the menu is so gluten-friendly that it was easier for Sheri to tell us the four things that HAD gluten! We shared two appetizers: chorizo with potatoes & camembert with maple syrup. For mains we had: lamb shank, duck confit, scallops (off the appetizer menu) and short ribs. Every dish and every bite was absolutely amazing. We were too full for dessert but Sheri brought us truffles, on the house. We will absolutely be back, even just to sit at the bar for wine and cheese.

Picked Somerville for an evening dinner mainly because the reviews on OpenTable were overall excellant, not sure the Bistro lived up to those reviews. The service was very good, prompt without being a distraction. The food on the other hand was only average and we found every dish quite salty, even the cheesecake desert! The menu is quite limited and the portion sizes were a little small. There is a distinct lack of vegetables and salads on the menu so if you're not big on meat then this place isn't for you. The Bistro is more for wine and cheese outings than meals in my opinion, drinks are a little on the expensive side but most places are like that. Overall disappointed, probably won't return.

My wife and I love going to Sommerville. We love the proximity only 10 minutes from where we live the online booking and the atmosphere. Sherry the owner always greets us then seats us and we spend time catching up on events. The menu has a few excellently prepared entrees. We have tried them all and they are cooked to maximize the flavor of the particular meat. They have an excellent wine list that just adds the perfect touch to a great meal. Entree sizes are perfect. I never leave feeling like I have over eaten and uncomfortable. Excellent music choice as well.

We are working our way through Edmonton's dining hot spots, always in search of some place unique, both in ambiance and food offerings. Although there were a couple of glitches, this restaurant was definitely a favorite to date. The scallop appetizer was amazing, three scallops sitting in a little pool of beautiful sauce. Both the pan roasted duck leg and the lamb shank were excellent choices. We wish there had been at least a small offering of vegies on our plates, both for balance as well as color. We were unfortunate to have been seated near a ridiculously loud foursome, which made it impossible to have a conversation of our own. However, this restaurant is so small that other diners most assuredly also suffered. Service was excellent.

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Somerville on Valentine's Day. We've had many Valentine dinners out over the years, and far too many times the overbusy, overbooked or understaffed restaurant experience was disappointing. Thankfully this was nothing like that, what a great evening. The complimentary glasses of champagne started everything off very well, and we followed that with the beautiful baked Camembert, walnuts and maple appetizer. My husband loved the manicotti, and my steak frites with filet mignon was amazing - cooked perfectly to order and very tender. Very good, attentive service. Great evening, we will be back!!

My husband and I made a reservation for an early Valentines dinner. Upon arrival we were surprise at how quiet and romantic the feel of the restaurant is. After being seated we were served a glass of champagne complimentary of the hostes. It was very thoughtful of her. The menu has a great selection and I loved how they cater to Gluten free customers. I cannot eat dairy or gluten, yet found so many options on the menu for me to enjoy. We ordered the scallops to share, but after our first bite we decided to order another serving. They were amazing. My husband said it was the best scallops he's ever had. The sauce that accompanies them is so good I could have eaten it with a spoon. The rest of the meal was just as fabulous.

Had the seafood manicotti and steak frite both entrees were spectacular. It was my girlfriends birthday, and in my reservation notes I had mentioned that she loved red velvet cake. The Chef owner made sure we had some for dessert, thank you so much. If you haven't been to this cool bistro yet , go.

Chic decor in an intimate space. The food was amazing... the sauce came with the perfect duck breast lifted the whole dish, and the beef in the casserole just melted in your mouth. Dessert was the highlight though as the pecan & chocolate torte and chocolate ginger cake brought us to the home stretch with complimentary port (thank you!). We enjoyed our meal from the small menu, and received some good suggestions for wine. The Shiraz Merlot blend from Washington was a delicious discovery. Of the three entrees our party ordered, there was a real absence of vegetables on the plates, resulting in heavy meals. Good flavours well developed - and would have been much enhanced with some light veggie sides to balance. A fish or poultry option would be nice for someone wanting a lighter entree.
