  • "Nice setting for a business dinner. Wonderful service from the entire staff. Great food and wine/cocktail list."

  • "Food is always great and I would come here every week if I could. Top notch food without being too expensive."

  • "The menu offers something for everyone, and did not disappoint. My fried chicken was crispy on the outside and very moist inside. The smoked gouda/bacon macaroni and cheese is decadent, but so worth it. The steak frites was perfectly cooked. The only disappointing thing was having to remind the waiter to bring out our wine with the meal."

  • "Good food. I wish the menu would change. But the specials are always good"

  • "Service, Food, Location makes Solstice the...... Best Restaurant in Columbia!"

  • "Recently spent a week in Charleston and Solstice still beats anywhere we ate while there. However for the first time ever my husband thought his food was a little off the usual quality . He always orders exactly the same items, so his visit to visit comparison should be valid."

  • "This is nice neighborhood resturant that is great for couples and small socail groups. The menu has something for all . The food is beautiful abd portions plentiful enough for many to share."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our evening, from the attentive service to the perfectly prepared food. Excellent variety of menu items and wonderfully refreshing wine list. We highly recommend you visit Solstice."

  • "Make your reservations early! We've tried to get a reservation here a few times for 7:00 and each time we've failed. Our fault, we were trying to make reservations the night before or the night of. We finally decided to eat early so we could try the restaurant and I'm so glad we did. Our server was waiting on us within minutes of sitting down and returned quickly with our drink order. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was amazing. My steak was cooked perfectly. The server was back to check on us a few times during the meal, not too overly oppressive and the manager made a visit."

  • "I'm from Washington, DC, where there are so many excellent restaurants. But I found this gem in Columbia, SC, not noted for its fine dining. Perhaps that's unfair, and I like pulled pork and boiled peanuts as much as the next guy, but the Solstice Kitchen is fabulous. It's really the equal of most DC restaurants in terms of the food as well as the service. The place was packed on a recent Tuesday night so there are clearly folks in South Carolina who love excellent fare. It was also quite cheaper than the chi-chi joints in DC."

  • "When my wife and I got there we had the pleasure of meeting a bar tender who was very knowledgeable and really made me excited to order my entree. Sadly his description and the chef's ability to make the food meet what I expected for the price was unfortunately way off. For two people the bill was almost $100, and I could have bought a weeks worth of groceries to make dinner myself much better."

  • "I really enjoyed everything about Solstice. Reservations were set for 8:15 and our table was ready at 8:15. Waitress was attentive and she explained every food choice. The food was presented well and it tasted great."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 21st anniversary at Solstice and it was fabulous. The atmosphere, food, and service was excellent. I would recommend Solstice to anyone who want to celebrate an occasion or if you just want to go somewhere for fine dining. This is the perfect place."

  • "Four of us dined and we all thought the experience to be perfect. The waiter was always on the mark with his timing and performed all duties exceptionally well. The food (2 of us had East Coast Halibut and the other 2 had Beef Tenderloin and CAB Ribeye) was perfectly prepared and seasoned along with creative presentations. We will be back for more!"

  • "Great bar area, nice for couples on a date night....good wine selection and pricing points.....attentive staff....the restaurant was quiet because we were there at 8:00 PM on a Monday."

  • "Though tucked out of sight on Sparkleberry, this place is an absolute must. The menu is creative, to say the least, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. We've been twice this month and have decided to make this a regular favorite. The imaginative flair and local fare make Solstice a real treat. The ambience is what I like to call amber; contemporary and eclectic. Definitely try an elderflower martini, for an aromatic, sparkling twist on a classic beverage or the devilled eggs as an appetizer. Everything seems to be paired &/or garnished uniquely and perfectly. I wouldn't say it's a restaurant for kids, as we have taken our 9 year old and 14 month old: they just didn't get it. Now a date night staple, we look forward to visiting."

  • "This is our favorite restaurant when we can get a night out for ourselves. The food is always perfect and so is the environment. Would recommend the BBQ pork spring rolls, these are a must."

  • "My wife and I visited Solstice Kitchen on our 364th day of marriage, and found it a very fine experience. Our server was unobtrusive but we never had to wait for his attention. My wife is a little less adventurous than me, and the scallops she ordered were just slightly outside her comfort range. Something about the texture was offputting. But the preparation was wonderful, and the quantity of food overall was almost perfect - slightly too much, if anything!"

  • "We were seated without a wait. The server was professional and amiable. My expectations were elevated when I saw that their Bellini was made with real peach puree and not schnapps. I was not disappointed with the food which was imaginative and delicious. Their fresh fish preparations were spot on. The desserts were outstanding, especially the pineapple spring roll. This would be a regular spot for us if we lived nearby."

  • "It was our wedding anniversary and we definitely chose the right place to celebrate! Our meal was superb as was the quality and presentation. I also love the idea of supporting our local farmers and buying fresh. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive without being intrusive. It was a packed house, so the noise level was high, but everyone was enjoying themselves--including us! It was more than we normally spend, so we'd have to save it for special occasions, but it's nice to look forward to going to and having such an excellent "neighborhood gem" for those times. The corn creme brulee was especially innovative and delicious--as was everything!"

  • "This was a business dinner. I like to go with the specials and the daily special was salmon, it was prepared perfect. The sides were complimentary in flavor. The wine was reasonably priced. Our waitress was wonderful, very friendly. I will be back when I'm in the area. Loved it."

  • "We waited two years to be able to go back to Solstice. It was worth the wait. Highly recommended. Our server was particularly helpful in making recommendations."

  • "The experiencce was great from the time we entered the restaurant. The service [waiter] was great, polite and efficient. He kept checking back to see if we needed anything. The food was done well--a rare steak for me and one of their specialties for my wife. Dessert was also very good."

  • "Went for dinner on our anniversary on a busy Friday night. Had the peach cocktail, delicious. Had fried oysters (slightly above average), Foie gras PB&J (off the charts), flat iron steak (average), braised pork shoulder confit (excellent). Throughly enjoyed ourselves. Looking forward to going back, hope they change up their menu, I'd love to see what else they have to offer. Tasty little palette cleanser of kumquat with honey blue cheese was unforgettable. Also, bread was delish. They pay much attention to the details. Beautiful plates, tasty sauces, creative menu. Loved it."

  • "We've dined here many times, and it never disappoints. Great food, great service. Scallops and halibut were excellent. Who needs a seafood restaurant in Columbia when you can get perfectly prepared fish and seafood here? "

  • "We booked Solstice to celebrate prior to our daughter's graduation ceremony. I noted on the reservation that we were in a time pinch. The staff could not have been more accommodating to our needs. The food was uniquely southern with an elegant twist...very fresh. My only complaint is that the portion sizes seemed somewhat small for the price. I enjoyed the pistachio crusted halibut. My husband had the 2 birds (duck and quail). These were featured on the nightly specials. My daughter had the pork dish that is on the regular menu."

  • "An incredibile dining out experience! The best filet mignon we have eaten in a long, long time and the appetizers and salads were outstanding as well. The service was impeccable as well. Solstice has a wonderful wine list at a decent price. If you haven't been there, you need to go! If you've been there, I'm sure you are already planning a trip back... I know I am!"

  • "As usual, everything was wonderful at Solstice! The appetizers were out of this world, and all of our entrées were cooked to perfection. I love coming to Solstice!"

  • "I can never say enough about the food, the staff, and the entire experience when eating at Solstice. It is and has been for a long time my favorite place in Columbia to eat. I love meeting friends and taking family to eat here. "

  • "We really enjoyed our lunch out on the patio. The hostess greeted us walking out of the door as we were walking up to the door, greeting us by my name! The service was delightful and very attentive. Each of us ordered something different, and all items were very tasty We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Only problem, we were too full to try dessert...I would love to try Solstice for dinner. We will definitely go back and recommend!"

  • "Solstice is always a must-go! We had come here a few years ago, so it was on our radar for our visit to Columbia this year. We were disappointed by dinner at another restaurant the night before, so Solstice was nothing short of an absolute treat. The food and service were excellent!"

  • "My husband and I booked last minute with OpenTable, and we're glad that was even an option. When we arrived, our table was waiting on us and we were promptly seated. It was crowded, but pleasant, and were offered "complimentary" bites from the chef to hold us over while we waited for our appetizers/meal. I do not drink, but I observed the beautifully made martinis around me at other tables. Our server was a fun guy, really enjoyed him. Our food came out hot, and absolutely delicious. Cheers to the chef!"

  • "My wife and I have been to Soltice a number of times and always enjoyed it. This time, however, we sat along the wall in the main dining room for the first time it seemed to take a lot away from the experience, even though the food was good as always. We were crammed with diners close by on each side. Not really ideal for a private conversation, and the waitress was on top of us whenever she was helping us or the tables on either side. In addition, the waitress seemed superficially polite, but not particularly concerned about making it a good experience. Without asking about food preferences just recommendations the most expensive items on the wine & food menus. Sent someone else to deliver the bill, handle payment & return the receipt."

  • "Solstice has consistently delivered the freshest seasonal food options, with expert preparation. They are the best "Band for the Buck" The wine list is very complete. It will always include a "price point" pedestrian wine selection of very high quality, but also a wonderful high end selection of recognizable favorites and celebratory wines. Their preparations for fresh seafood are always creative, but always keeping the fish as the star. The steaks are seasoned perfectly, and cooked to order with precise center temperatures. Why go to a chain restaurant, where every sauce and spice tastes the same? Solstice offers the atmosphere, the quality, the service, and a great price. I highly recommend the dining experience."

  • "Food and service is excellent but for what the dishes cost you do not get enough food. Salad should be included with meal and portions need to be larger."
