I have wanted to dine here for quite some time since we moved to Columbia and I must say it was worth the wait . At the door we were greeted and taken to our table. Katie our server was very pleasant and very attentive. Everything arrived at our table with perfect timing, hot and delicious. We really enjoyed our entire meal. A must dinning experience!

My wife and I were in town dropping our daughter off at USC. We just spent the whole day moving her into her dorm and we just wanted a nice place to eat. We were pleasantly surprised. Nice atmosphere, fun bar, cozy dining room, and the food was top notch. I got the shrimp & grits and was not disappointed. Steak entree was ordered as well and it was melt-in-your mouth good. And you have to try the mac n' cheese side dish. it was so rich the two of us could not finish it. We will certainly be back!

Wonderful menu & experience! We had a great time celebrating my mother's birthday. The scallops were amazing & fresh & my husband let me have some of his shrimp & grits which were great! Every piece of seafood we had at the table was fresh & the vegetables were nothing but perfectly cooked. I have to mention the Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding!! This was the best dessert I've had in a long time eating out in Columbia! Kudos to the chef!

My wife and I often visit with our family in Columbia, S.C. During this visit, our daughter suggested that we might try an evening out at one of her favorite restaurants in the area, Solstice Kitchen. Now we see why she made the recommendation. The atmosphere had just the right "adult' ambiance for us ( We are from NYC after all), and just the right friendly, attentive service that makes dining a pleasure. Both my wife and I have some dietary concerns which were accommodated. The suggestions for both food and wine were excellent. I'm sure we will be returning on another special occasion

We had a wonderful dinner at Solstice! My husband and I both had seasonal drinks (sangria and The Elder Peach), and both were wonderful. We started with the Margherita flatbread, which was to die for, and he had the steak pizzaiola, which he loved. I keep trying to order a new entree, but I always go back to the fried chicken. We were somewhat disappointed in dessert, but overall, the meal was great, with stellar service. We were thankful for our OpenTable reservation, too, because the restaurant was packed!

Our Friday evening visit to Solstice Kitchen was highly enjoyable. The ambiance was very pleasant, the service was very good, the wine was just right, and most of the dishes were wonderful--tasty flat bread with cheese and heirloom tomatoes, excellent halibut, a fine steak/frites, and a rich, yummy desert. The best meal we have had outside of New York City in a couple of years!

The menu offers something for everyone, and did not disappoint. My fried chicken was crispy on the outside and very moist inside. The smoked gouda/bacon macaroni and cheese is decadent, but so worth it. The steak frites was perfectly cooked. The only disappointing thing was having to remind the waiter to bring out our wine with the meal.

Recently spent a week in Charleston and Solstice still beats anywhere we ate while there. However for the first time ever my husband thought his food was a little off the usual quality . He always orders exactly the same items, so his visit to visit comparison should be valid.

Make your reservations early! We've tried to get a reservation here a few times for 7:00 and each time we've failed. Our fault, we were trying to make reservations the night before or the night of. We finally decided to eat early so we could try the restaurant and I'm so glad we did. Our server was waiting on us within minutes of sitting down and returned quickly with our drink order. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was amazing. My steak was cooked perfectly. The server was back to check on us a few times during the meal, not too overly oppressive and the manager made a visit.

I'm from Washington, DC, where there are so many excellent restaurants. But I found this gem in Columbia, SC, not noted for its fine dining. Perhaps that's unfair, and I like pulled pork and boiled peanuts as much as the next guy, but the Solstice Kitchen is fabulous. It's really the equal of most DC restaurants in terms of the food as well as the service. The place was packed on a recent Tuesday night so there are clearly folks in South Carolina who love excellent fare. It was also quite cheaper than the chi-chi joints in DC.

When my wife and I got there we had the pleasure of meeting a bar tender who was very knowledgeable and really made me excited to order my entree. Sadly his description and the chef's ability to make the food meet what I expected for the price was unfortunately way off. For two people the bill was almost $100, and I could have bought a weeks worth of groceries to make dinner myself much better.

Though tucked out of sight on Sparkleberry, this place is an absolute must. The menu is creative, to say the least, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. We've been twice this month and have decided to make this a regular favorite. The imaginative flair and local fare make Solstice a real treat. The ambience is what I like to call amber; contemporary and eclectic. Definitely try an elderflower martini, for an aromatic, sparkling twist on a classic beverage or the devilled eggs as an appetizer. Everything seems to be paired &/or garnished uniquely and perfectly. I wouldn't say it's a restaurant for kids, as we have taken our 9 year old and 14 month old: they just didn't get it. Now a date night staple, we look forward to visiting.

My wife and I visited Solstice Kitchen on our 364th day of marriage, and found it a very fine experience. Our server was unobtrusive but we never had to wait for his attention. My wife is a little less adventurous than me, and the scallops she ordered were just slightly outside her comfort range. Something about the texture was offputting. But the preparation was wonderful, and the quantity of food overall was almost perfect - slightly too much, if anything!

We were seated without a wait. The server was professional and amiable. My expectations were elevated when I saw that their Bellini was made with real peach puree and not schnapps. I was not disappointed with the food which was imaginative and delicious. Their fresh fish preparations were spot on. The desserts were outstanding, especially the pineapple spring roll. This would be a regular spot for us if we lived nearby.

It was our wedding anniversary and we definitely chose the right place to celebrate! Our meal was superb as was the quality and presentation. I also love the idea of supporting our local farmers and buying fresh. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive without being intrusive. It was a packed house, so the noise level was high, but everyone was enjoying themselves--including us! It was more than we normally spend, so we'd have to save it for special occasions, but it's nice to look forward to going to and having such an excellent "neighborhood gem" for those times. The corn creme brulee was especially innovative and delicious--as was everything!
