A multiple-winner of Open Table's "Best Overall Restaurant" in South Carolina, Solstice Kitchen & Wine Bar is the partner restaurant of Mr. Friendlys New Southern Cafe and Cellar on Greene. Owner/Executive Chef, Ricky Mollohan, teams up with Chefs Blythe Kelly and Alan Boyle to create weekly menus… that always include a three course dinner starting at $25, and that changes to emphasize the true seasonal meaning of "Solstice". All menus utilize interpretations of dishes ranging from classic American & French, to Mediterranean, Japanese & Low Country. "Consecutive evenings in two of Columbia's top restaurants - Solstice Kitchen and Hampton Street Vineyard. Both are respectable, but Hampton Street is the clear winner - better food, atmosphere, and wine list. At Solstice, the cheese course and dessert were noteworthy, but the duck entree was sloppily presented and undercooked. Hampton wowed us with the oyster and the crab cake appetizers. The short rib and salmon entrees and chocolate dessert were excellent. Solstice's wine list was very good, but mostly standard fair. In contrast, Hampton's list is larger and more varied. Service at both was somewhat less knowledgeable about food and wine than expected from restaurants of this quality. You can't go wrong - but Hampton is tops."

"I drove from Florence, SC just to get Soft Shell Crabs, which came in ahead of Season, due to Unseasonably Warm weather. My daughter joined me. I had Seafood Chowder for an Appetizer. It was delicious. I had the Soft Shell BLT Salad. My daughter had the Salmon. We cleaned the plates. We shared a Chrispy Creme Doughtnut Bread Pudding. A Winner. Our Waiter was Tyler, who who is a True Pro!! Very enjoyable Experience.Well worth the trip."

"I don't live in Columbia or the metro area, but I visit frequently and I can say that this is by far the best cuisine I've had. The atmosphere is very romantic and I decided to propose to my fiance here."
