In the Fall of 2005, Piergiorgio Ceciarelli opened a restaurant with a goal - to serve the best food with the warmest service and atmosphere. Piergiorgio Ceciarelli formed the heart and soul of Solo Trattoria. Piergiorgio Ceciarelli has been a restaurateur for 20 years. He started in South Florida where he built a reputation for excellent food, warm and fun atmosphere, and genuine heartfelt service. Winning the award for "Best Restaurant Owner 2001". Citi Link said, "…always has a warm smile when he greets you and a grateful thank you when he bids you 'Ciao' at the end of a meal". Originally from Rome, he has lived in California, Mexico, Florida, and now New Jersey, where he resides with his wife and children.Continued

  • "We have been here before and it was excellent so we came back. Service was good but the food was really nothing special. Sauce had a very weird taste and the seafood in our dishes was almost non existent so basically we had a plate of pasta with some strange tasting sauce. We also felt rushed when ordering as we were advised that they were going to be really busy shortly!! We had a 15% off coupon that had no stipulations except not on weekends and for no more then 6 people. We were 5 people and it was a tuesday night and they would not allow us to use it! Said it was graduation in town so it was a special day and they were not accepting coupons that day! I had called prior about it and was advised it was ok since it was not a weekend."

  • "No, I don't mean dining alone . . . bring a partner or some friends and try Solo Trattoria. The potato pizza is a must every time for an appetizer! The specials are always good and they do offer some interesting dishes, such as a lobster crepe which was a special on our last visit. The service is warm and welcoming. Truly a nice local place to bring friends and a good bottle of vino!!!"

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Solo. The waiter was friendly and very attentive. It was a birthday dinner and we were seated right away. We were immediately given a warm bread basket with an assortment of great breads. Our appetizer, buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto was generous enough for two, the calamari was crisp and the sauce tasty. The dinners had a generous portion more than enough to take home to enjoy the next day. We did not have dessert, lemon pound cake was waiting at home. Overall, this was a pleasant experience. We would go again."

  • "We had'nt been to this place for a couple of years. Gave them another chance. Waited half hour for our table with a reservation (strike one). The maitre'd (owner) was apologetic. The menu was short on choices, and there were only a couple of specials. None sounded appealing enough (strike two), so ordering off the menu I had the marinated skirt steak which has some greens and dressing on top. The waiter realized I needed a steak knife, but never bothered to get me one so I wrestled with the steak with the butter knife and finally gave up halfway through (STRIKE THREE). Now I remember why we hadnt been back for so long. They will not be seeing us there again. Dont bother with this place. There are plenty of better restaurants in the area."

The pasta dishes were okay, the pork medallions were to be stuffed, only one was and they were tough and overcooked. The caesar salad was very bland and one of the diners told the staff that it was tasteless yet no one seemed to care. The bill was pricey for mediocre food. I would not recommend this restaurant. The food was served so quickly that you questioned whether it had been precooked."

  • "We go to Solo frequently and have never had a bad meal. Their Veal Milanese is the best I've had. It is so large, I have the leftovers for two days after. Their steak special is served on a cutting board - and it is always cooked to perfection. The staff are friendly and the owner always stops by your table to see how everything is going. I definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "We had a November anniversary gathering at Solo Trattoria with 6 of us. We ordered up 3 appetizers (fried calamari, fried veal meatballs & sauted clams & mussels). The meatballs and the clam/mussel combo were very good but the calamari was bland and a small portion. For main course, 2 of us had farfalle & seafood. This was a very tasty andp erfectly cooked meal. Two others had eggplant entrees which were pretty good. One morehad th eir award winning rigatoni bolonese and said it was super. The last entree was a pasta dish with chicken and spinach and it was stated to be lacking taste. Deserts were small & not special, except for the $7.00 price. Service was a little slow & we had to remind our waiter for things we requested."

  • "Had dinner there on August 10, 2013. We had Ben as our waiter. He know the menu and was patient with our requests(can we hear the specials again!) It is a BYOB - with a liquor store across the street. Had salad with walnuts and blue cheese and it was divine(lightly dressed with oil and vinegar) My entrée was one the specials: swordfish with tomato and onions. It was cooked just right. We did not order dessert. I am looking forward to my next visit."

It has good gluten free pasta for my daughter She bad the penne vodka and my husband had the orrecirte which had nice porcini clavor.The last time I really loved the dish I was craving this Ike but from what I remember It did not live up to the memory. The dish had tomatoes in it which I don't recall Originally. I'd still go back. Service was good, our waiter was wonderful."

  • "We have been going to Solo for many years and always find the food to be very good. The real secret to this restaurant is the owner, Georgio. He is always present, warm, friendly and welcoming to his guests. Whenever you come back it feels like you are returning to a relative's home where you are greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. Even though its sometimes a little loud and service can get slow when it's very busy, the hospitality never wanes and, end the end, it's a great dinner!"

  • "A very nice meal in a relatively quiet, yet busy, atmosphere. My clams in red sauce appetizer was quite good, though I'd recommend thinning the sauce a bit. My branzino, however, was exceptionally good, and our friend who had it had the same reaction. All four dinners were well prepared and tasty, and the desserts were good too. All in all a very positive experience. We'll be back."

  • "This is our in town go to place. Took some new friends here, loved it, food was wonderful, fresh and our waiter was informative and very pleasant. The trainee however was a different story, and altho he was trying hard, he was failing royally even to the point of insulting ( indirectly) my husband and one of our friends. It was unintentional and funny in a sense, but sometimes things are better left unsaid. Food however was just as wonderful as always and will always go back until that changes, hopefully never as Freehold lacks places to eat that hold any merit."

We could not of had a better experience. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. We will be going back shortly."
