"A very relaxed setting, cozy atmosphere. The specials are very popular and if you wait, they may not be available late in the evening. Scallops are a good bet, and duck is always a good offering. Although the menu is limited, it courses are well balanced and prepared. Ingredients are local and fresh."

"Great food. Only complaint was the limited wine list, although what is there is thoughtful and reasonably priced. Food was excellent, staff efficient and not obtrusive and dinner was great."

"Eating at the Solo Bistro is always a memorable experience - for us and for our many guests to whom we recommend the restaurant. With regard to quality of food, it's head and shoulders above anything else in the area and easily ranks amongst the best eateries in Portland (Maine) and Boston. A real gem!

"Solo Bistro is a great place for dinner for two, or a small group. Drinks, wine, food, and service are all at the "best available" level for mid-coast. Tables are small, and the rooms are LOUD; but that aside, the atmosphere is very pleasant. Table Settings are very nice. Bottom line: It's about the food, and the food is 1st Class Excellent."

"I had the seared scallops-delicious. To begin I had a carrot and tarragon soup. Also delicious. Service was outstanding as usual. I know that my taste in wine is considered boring by foodies but I wish Solo would add one "oaky" CA chardonnay to their wine list."

"I love going to Solo Bistro! The food is made from fresh ingredients, and my understanding is that they buy local as much as possible. The food is creative, well prepared and always a treat. Portion size is perfect. Their Wednesday night specials are interesting. That's what I had last night, and it was delicious. The atmosphere is tasteful, artsy and comfortable, both upstairs and downstairs.

They send out a weekly email with the specials and the Friday performers. I read them as much for the topics discussed as much as for the menu. It's fun and edgy."
