Diner Reviews
  • "Solera is one of the undiscovered gems of Denver. At a recent brunch, there were only a few tables filled - and yet we had a fantastic meal. And at a recent dinner, we were able to put together a series of small plates to make a perfect birthday dinner celebration."

  • "Outstanding food/curds excellent/sublties of oil/vinger appreciated here. Marconas just like in Spain. Not nicest neighborhood in world/limited parking, but would highly recommend for foodies. Sat inside/quiet - outside noisier/younge crowd."

  • "Enjoyed a nice evening on the patio with sangria and Spanish tapas. They also have some nice happy hour prices until 7:00 if you sit at the bar."

  • "We have eaten here many times, and have never been disappointed with either the food or the service! The outdoor dining is lovely. If you like mussels, go on a Tuesday and have the "all you can eat" mussels for $20. Worth every penny."

  • "remains our favorite special place to dine in a very pleasant outdoor environment surrounded by well matured trees and flowers. food is consistently great. highly recommended"

  • "Having grown up in Europe I could not believe my luck when I entered Solera on Colfax. It was like being transported into some Mediterranean village. The waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable explaining the menu and recommending a Spanish wine for our entree. And the food was the best meal ( I had the lamb my husband the steak) I had in Denver - and we live here for 18 years! Start with the create your own appetizer platter and end with one of their delicious and well priced desserts! I have never written a restaurant review but felt like I had to share it!"

  • "My party of six (two kids, two seniors, and two 30-somethings) loved it. Something for everyone...even the pickiest eater."

  • "The food was outstanding. We began w/ Calamari and it was fabulous. Notice that almost every table was beginning with Calamari! I had Duck Confit, at the waiter's suggestion, and it was tender, tasty and accompanied by a wonderful green salad w/ nuts, fingerlings, radishes, goat cheese. My guest had the Halibut and she could not stop raving about the sauce! We ended with desserts of Rhubarb/Strawberry Crisp and the Olive Oil Cake - Yummmmmmm."

  • "Exceptional staff...made my day. Due to food preferences and allergies unable to eat much on menu. Server said the kitchen could do anything on the menu so they combined my favorite salad with chicken for a delightful meal. The proportions were perfect, the plate beautiful but better yet the flavors combined were amazing for my picky palate. My companion totally enjoyed her steak...drinks were past pefection as we had a handmade sangria and a dirty martini."

  • "We went on a Friday night to enjoy the patio and they'd closed it to a private group; should have been disclosed in advance!"

  • "Delicious scallops and risotto. Service was attentive without being obtrusive. Very lively and busy but the acoustics were good so it was easy to talk. The patio looked quite nice and open doors from the indoor dining area that look out to the patio made even the inside feel like al fresco dining."

  • "The lamb and pork meatballs were outstanding. The duck and the halibut were cooked and seasoned well. Overall a great experience."

  • "Two large parties in the restaurant plus one in the bar made the place quite noisy at brunch. Bloody Mary very spicy and tasty but mostly ice. We were told that the Sausage Sliders appetizer would come with 3 sliders but there were only 2, which seemed a bit skimpy for $12."
    Dined on 6/8/2014
  • "Dinner was delicious. However the portion sizes were small for the price. The outdoor patio was great!! Very relaxing and quiet. We will definitely return for a special occasion or when we need recharging."

  • "We ate outside, so I could not tell you about the ambiance or the romance indoors, but it was a nice outdoor patio and very good food. We took one of the waiters recommendations and it was amazing (calamari)!"

  • "I love Solera. I've never had a bad experience any time I've been there. The food is always unique, interesting and very tasty. The service is exceptional as well. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "It was a slow Thursday night, so a bit hard to judge noise level. We were seated on the patio, at the fence next to Colfax, so there was a lot of car street noise, but that might have been different with more diners. Overall, service was very good, as was the food. A few things were seasoned with too much salt, but that is a subjective opinion. I would definitely recommend Solera to friends."

  • "We sat outside which was nice. The food was good as always. The waiter was in the weeds. We would have ordered / spent more if he had been on his game. "

  • "We eat here once or twice a month. Love the menu, Goose, Tim, Greg. Enjoy the outdoor patio and its ambiance. The halibut and sea scallops were cooked perfectly, as usual. "

  • "This is a wonderful gem of a place to eat on Colfax! The outdoor patio is has an amazing atmosphere and the food is just as delicious to match. Everything we had (cheese tray, tapas, and entrees) was delicious. I will definitely be returning!! "

  • "I haven't been to Solera for a while. I'm not sure why, because it is great. The patio is lovely - you would never guess it is located on Colfax - I felt like I was in Italy. And the food was great. Highlights were a fabulous kale salad, cod fritters, and a chocolate banana bread pudding. They also have all you can eat mussels on Tuesday. We didn't get that because we wanted to try some other things, but we will go back for it!"

  • "A wonderful, lingering evening with good friends, enjoying tremendous cuisine with many menu surprises. The paella was totally off the charts, as was the service. Definitely a place to linger and enjoy the perfectly-paced eveing!"

  • "I've been to Solera for brunch a few times now, and it is amazing!! The food and drinks, the bartender, the servers, the ambience is absolutely wonderful. I took a client there for brunch recently, and they were blown away by the food and friendly staff. While inconspicuous from the outside, it is a treasure of ambience inside. The outdoor patio is hidden from street view, and is decorated with charm and natural tree shade. I can't wait to go back! "

  • "The restaurant is a great neigborhood find with good food and service. The wine list is excellent and the parking lot is convenient."

  • "Food was outstanding. I had scallops, my companion had mussels. Both were tasty and well executed. It was date night and service was slow. Not inefficient, just slow. Not sure why - everyone seemed busy, maybe understaffed. It's a small restaurant, so some forgiveness there. The biggest issue with this restaurant is noise. At first I thought it was due to a group in the corner, but even after they left the room was still noisy. My companion and I ended up being the last ones there and until it was down to 3 or 4 tables it was hard to have a conversation. The owners would be wise to install some wall coverings or acoustic tile to cut down on the noise...it really detracts from the experience."

  • "Wonderful evening sharing great food with great friends. There was no rush for the table and we were there about 2 hours eating and talking. This was the second time we had dined there and it was just as good if not better than the first time."

  • "Wow! That's all I can really say. Goose sure has put together such a great concept that is so spot on. There was a little confusion on who our server was and I wish we could have been explained the specials without seeming like a nuisance to the server, but the food and atmosphere partly made up for it. Regardless, will be back"

  • "What a Fabulous re-find. We haven't been to Solera for about a year as it is off our normal path and a little out of the way, but it won't be from now on. Fabulous food, service, and evening!! You must put it on your calendar for a special night out!"

  • "Have been to this restaurant many times, the food is always great but the wait staff gets worse each visit. Restaurant wasn't very busy & yet our server never came to the table to refill out water glasses. It was all you could eat mussels & the server never came by to check if another bowl was needed, we would have to stop her & ask for another bowl & refill the bread basket. Although the temperature was in the 40's, the manager felt the need to keep opening the patio doors although several patrons were asking for them to be kept closed. Not only did our food get cold but coats were needed to be comfortable in the dining room area. "

  • "I have been to Solera many times, but mostly for dinner and drinks. I have always been very happy with those visits, and felt that the ambiance was great, the food spectacular, their wine list sufficient, and their service always great. We went there for Mother's Day brunch, and in the light of day, the interior looks shabbier than I recall- I think they are going too heavy on the rustic touches, and it is just starting to look dumpy. The food was OK. I had Serrano Ham Eggs Benedict. There was not a lot of flavor to the dish, and the sage infused Hollandaise sauce was quite mediocre with no distinct flavor. The side dish with the Benedict was a meh arugula salad- the dish looked emaciated and lifeless."

  • "I haven't been to Solera for a real dinner in a few years. They have such a great happy hour that we usually just sit at the bar. I went with several friends for a late dinner and the food was as good as I remembered. The service from our waiter Tim was fantastic. My only comment would be that when we walked in right on time for our reservation we were greeted a little surly from Goose who was working the front of the house that night. Maybe I took it the wrong way but that was my only slight negative of the whole night. The food is still amazing and it is a gem that doesn't get enough props."

  • "We had a great time and Goose was amazing trying to find the right wine for us. He must have opened 6 bottles. He did not mind at all and we really appreciated it. My only negative comment is that the portion of the scallops was a bit small."

  • "We have been to Solera several times over the past several years and it is consistently delicious. We both had the duck for the main course and we also ordered several appetizers. They originally forgot one of our appetizers, but brought it out later free of charge. The oysters were fantastic. My only critic is that the portion size seems to have shrunk. The food was delicious, but for the amount (# of dishes) of food we ordered I wasn't full enough. "

  • "This is a great, nice restaurant to stop at if you are on your way to a show at the Aurora Fox. It was also just a great place for a nice relaxed patio dinner. The food was great, the service was prompt and the patio was fantastic. We just had tapas: Gorganzola gnocchi with Duck confit (a special and our favorite - delicate, rich and savory); warm hearts of kale salad (a nice bitter compliment to the meatier dishes); calamari - nicely spicy and tender; and Ablondigas - smoky, hearty and a great "filling" tapas to the other lighter ones. Everything came out as it was ready - the waiter asked how we'd like the tapas served. This was plenty for 2. Timing was perfect for making the theater time and still enjoying dinner/patio."

  • "This was our second time at Solera and it was just as great as the first. Love the patio, it is so cute and fun. The food was fabulous. Loved the Thai styled calamari app and the Wyoming strip steak was great as well. All the desserts were top notch too. I would recommend Solera to anyone in the area. Can't wait to go back in our next trip."

  • "My husband and I love Solera. This time the service was not as attentive (and it wasn't that busy) and the spring menu not as interesting. We will definitely be back as we almost always have a wonderful time. This was an exception."

  • "Service was slow. Took forever to get food. Brought wrong entree to my wife. Disappointing to see one of our favorite restaurants sliding. Food good, as always. Same experience last two times we ate at Solera. Hope they pull things together."
