Solera has a wonderful back patio area for dining but they could invest in some seat cushions to make the chairs more comfortable. They are metal and are super uncomfortable, especially if you have a bad back. The string lights above are a nice touch but most of them were burnt out - might think of replacing them maybe? The food was good, not great. I had the scallops and substituted with the risotto, which was yummy. The scallops were done perfectly but maybe I'm just not as much of fan of scallops as I thought. Most everything on the menu has spice so there are not a lot choices for someone that can't eat spice, so know that going in. Dessert wasn't great - poundcake was covered in way too much basalmic and gelato was 'eh'.

My husband and I enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. Service was excellent. We were looking for fine dining without the stuffy crowd. We found it at Solera. It was a mixed crowd, families, couples, ages varied. We sat outside and I was a litte worried the noise from traffic would be a distraction but it wasn't. Solera is a hidden gem. Glad we found it. Please tell your friends.

We ate on the outdoor patio, which is truly lovely and private. There is street noise from Colfax, but this fades due to the patio ambience. My husband's calamari dish was delicious! The seafood paella dish was over spiced, and too much sausage and rice filler. Excellent service!

The food, service, and ambiance is consistently wonderful! Try the pork belly confit during happy hour- heavenly! The paella, scallops with truffle mac & cheese, and lamb t-bone, are all absolutely delicious. The decor is warm and cozy. Solera's patio, a charming place for Sunday brunch or a romantic dinner, is the jewel of Colfax- you will forget you're even on Colfax!

This was our second visit (we travel to Denver about once a year), and Solera was just as wonderful as before. Their having the very limited 'restaurant week' menu was a disappointment, but the food was delicious. We dined inside, but there is a beautiful terrace. There were only a few tables in use inside, so it was very quiet (which was much appreciated - we are a couple who like to converse at dinner), but i think the ambiance would normally encourage people to use their 'indoor voices' -- and I hope the management would try to enforce that. (Too many restaurants let quiet patrons be terrorized by the noisy ones, especially if the latter are running up a good bar bill.) The service was just top-notch, as before. We will return.

Solera has been my "go to" restaurant for many years. I hope this was an off night. Different host-arrogant;the waiter got the orders wrong;did not ask if we wanted ground pepper for the salads (we did);the plating of the entre was not as described-fries were substituted for the starch-no response;bread was plopped on the table at the end of the entre with no oil/balsamic;no apologies after asking if we wanted leftovers packaged;one did-it was taken away & thrown out. The $38 NY strip steaks-tough;the usually exceptional scallops-three tiny ones on an ocean of macaroni & cheese full of unexceptional peas (not in description);long wait between courses & for check;no check-in by waiter or host;not worth the $200 for three diners

Having dinner on the patio was a delightful end of summer experience. They kept the restaurant week menu an extra day (or more) and had a few specials. We four had one salmon dinner (subbed potatoes, spinach for pancetta risotto) and one beef dinner, two scallops with truffle mac. As everyone says, the calamari is great. We all enjoyed our dinners. We especially enjoyed the not-rushed service.

The staff was courteous, kind and knowledgeable. Our table was out back which was very cute and fun. We were able to try some tapas per their recommendation. They were wonderful. Each course was timed out well for us. The dinner entrees were fantastic. The flavors complemented each other. We took desserts home for later and they were delicious later that evening and the next day.

My lamb was ordinary, eatable but nothing to rave about, and I told the waiter when he asked me what I thought. Then the mgr. came over and asked me if they could bring me something else, and I said no because I really was not trying to Make A big deal about it. From that point on, we were treated coldly by the waiter. When the check was brought, he gruffly stated that we had not been charged for our dessert. This was our first, and will be our last visit to this restaurant.

We have gone to Solera once or twice a year for many years. There was a change in food and service. It seemed tired and very quiet. The server was changed during our stay and we weren't told until after it happened. Our server seemed annoyed that she had to help us....very distant! The mussels were very tiny and we asked if there was a season where the size changed . She came back and said no, but had no explanation as to the size. All in all it was a ho hum evening. We don't think our friends will return as it was their first time.

This restaurant is situated off Colfax but it is a must try. The food is very well prepared with great flavor. The service is personal and friendly. The patio is unpretentious fun. While the restaurant could compete easily with white table linen joints the atmosphere here is easy and accessible. Highly recommend.

This restaurant may get overlooked because of its location on Colfax. Do NOT let that deter you! We went here for our 23rd anniversary and chose to sit in the bar because tables weren't as close together. The bartender took care of us all evening. The farmer's board with a bottle of wine is a must. We enjoyed 3 different tapas after the board with another bottle of wine. We were so full, we didn't even get to the entree! However, this is a good thing because now we have an excuse to return. They didn't rush us at all, which was another good since we spent 2.5 hours here simply enjoying the food, wine, and service. Most memorable evening.

The hubby and I used to live in Park Hill, so Solera was about the only nice dining option in the area. We moved to southeast Denver, but decided to revisit after several years away. What a delightful surprise! We started with mussels that had a dash of preserved lemon. The entrees were delish: lamb t-bones for most; paella for me. Hubby and I traded tastes. His lamb was succulent and perfectly cooked. My paella was loaded with mussels, clams, scallops and one gi-normous shrimp. My dad got the winning dessert with banana caramel bread pudding.

Was skeptical when one of the guys suggested our group go there to dinner - we usually hit more downscale places like Vine Street or Bastiens, but it worked out great. The food, as expected, was excellent, and they had a small but high quality set of beers on draft. Most importantly our server did a great job putting up with our ruckus and generally boisterous behavior. Not just a place for an upscale yet casual date, but surprisingly fun for groups!

Dining on Solera's patio is very pleasant on a summer evening. Food is reliably well executed. The servers, even on a Tuesday evening, were a bit overworked however and there was no bussing help. So getting another glass of wine or extra bread and the like took longer than expected, which was the only drawback.

Absolutely delicious food. Exciting menu. Portion size is perfect (unlike most Denver restaurants that charge the more for half the food) Great wine at a reasonable price. Great food and the waiter was very attentive but then it was a quiet night there. We sat inside and we were the only ones inside. I got the reminder of the 1,000 points from opentable that same day we went to Solera and tried to change my booking from 6 p.m to 5:30 so I could get the extra points and when doing so on opentable it said it wasn't available. We got there about 5:45 and we were the first ones in the restaurant and so no one was booked at the 5:30 slot. Not happy with opentable on this.

The mac and cheese (with shaved white truffle and seared scallops) is no longer on the menu but they make it if you request it, happily. It's one of the best dishes in Denver and this version didn't disappoint. Scallops had no grit at all. We took clients and all of the food looked good, save the bread pudding for dessert, which was slightly dry (usually fantastic). Ordered a large calamari for the table...best in Denver, as well. The patio is beautiful. It was slightly hot out. A circulating fan(s) out there would help a little. Service was wonderful. Just chatty enough and just available enough. Never felt rushed. Wine was perfectly picked by the waitress and as described. Overall, a very good meal.

Having grown up in Europe I could not believe my luck when I entered Solera on Colfax. It was like being transported into some Mediterranean village. The waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable explaining the menu and recommending a Spanish wine for our entree. And the food was the best meal ( I had the lamb my husband the steak) I had in Denver - and we live here for 18 years! Start with the create your own appetizer platter and end with one of their delicious and well priced desserts! I have never written a restaurant review but felt like I had to share it!
