They really are not able to honor reservations, especially during any busy time. It is more of a walk in restaurant for the hotel. There does not seem to be a restaurant manager, or it there is he/she hides in the back and lets the poor staff be thrown to the wolves. Not really their fault, because there does not seem to be enough staff or a system of organization. Maybe with new management they could get things under control.

We tried to eat breakfast after spending one night in the hotel & we could not get waited on & the place wasn't that busy! Unbelievable & extremely rude. We left after waiting for awhile & walked to Toscana's for a wonderful breakfast with impeccable service. We will never eat at Soleil's again.

  • Great food
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 6/21/2014
We tried this place at taste of gaslamp and they had the best sampler out of 20 or so others we tried. Other than the poor service from the valet, who quickly shooed us away regardless of our dinner reservation, and the giant sign stating complimentary valet for people eating in the restaurant; the experience was good. We had flat bread and an assortment of entrees, all of which were delicious. The service was good, and the atmosphere was great for people watching as a padres game was going on at the time.

There were very few people there so no excuse for bad service. But it was neglectful and unacomadating. There was no turkey bacon, turkey sausage, lox for the bagels or chicken and waffles. The breakfast buffet was 19 my husband ordered that. Most items he wanted had to be ordered from the kitchen. On let's French toast, fruit. They were included in the price you just had to wait to get them. Nice outdoor seating though at the back entrance of the ballpark.

I was impressed with the drinks, very well balanced and delicious. The food was plentiful and absolutely delicious BUT the service lacked. Perhaps it was her first time in the industry since she seemed to not know the menu and forgetful with our order. I would go again for the food and drinks, however; I would request a server with experience for the full experience.

    Dined on 2/14/2014
We went there with reservations and never was I notified in advanced that we would wait an hour for our food on valentines day. They had pre made menus and the kitchen was just too under staffed to handle a not busy restaurant. We left after being seated and them letting us know that we'd wait an hour for the food. We were starving. I'll maybe try it again I'm in the area but not for a special occasion. Luckily I had open table app and chose a better choice then and there

My spouse and I went here for valentines day for the first time. I am a vegetarian and they had a special valentines day menu without any vegetarian options. I immediately asked if it was possible to get a substitution because I am a vegetarian or if we should just order from the regular menu. He said he'd be happy to ask the chef and they were very willing to accommodate. The meal I had was a vegetable risotto which was absolutely amazing. My spouse equally enjoyed their rack of lamb. The only thing I was disappointed in was not knowing that they had free valet! We spent about 15 minutes trying to find parking and paid $10, this is completely not their fault though. We are definitely returning back to this restaurant!

Aside from the varied menu with the fresh, delicious and beautifully presented dishes and first class service, at competetive prices, Soleil at "K'"s beautiful decor provides a perfect, relaxing ambience. Too much contemporary decor seems angular and cold, but this restaurant has both elegance and warmth-- a combination of varied vistas with soft as well as geometric shapes and gentle, but not dim, lighting. We wonder who your designer is.

We had Thanksgiving dinner at their buffet, and really enjoyed it! There was enough variety to keep things interesting, but not so much that the choices were overwhelming. I was quite happy that they decided to put out a decent number of well-prepared items rather than a huge number of so-so ones. The carved turkey and roast beef were particularly delicious! If in the area for Thanksgiving again, we'd gladly eat here again.

Went for dinner with my husband and sat outside. It wasn't noisy, but had the hustle and bustle of being in a downtown neighborhood. Service was awesome- smart recommendations, quick with food and drinks (and refills!) and were kind enough to offer us dessert when they learned we were celebrating our anniversary. We don't live in San Diego, but would eat here again should we return to the area.

Every time we come we have to get the Hanger Steak, it is so good! Staff is always accommodating and nice. We came with another couple this time and tried a new appetizer, it was the artichoke dip, they absolutely loved it. Sitting outside on the patio was a nice change too, especially in the summer. Enjoy!

This is a great place to dine if you're downtown or staying at a downtown hotel. I had the Lobster soup and short ribs which was excellent! My daughter had the tortilla soup which she said was delicious and BBQ ribs. The service is good. There is night life at the Altitude on the rooftop which is for a younger crowd and outdoors, so dress warmly. It gets a little wild, if you want fun. The atmosphere is not fancy. There is a parking garage across the street which is reasonable in price.

Went here for valentine's day and the offered a great 4-course meal. Our waitress was very friendly and the food was great. Unfortunately, it took a long time for everything to happen (to be seated at our table when they weren't that busy, the wait for every course of the meal to come out). If they were faster at seating you and bringing the food out, I would give this place 5 stars.

This is a surprisingly good hotel restaurant. Every food item we ordered was prepared perfectly and quite delicious, and the server definitely had a talent for being attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere is more akin to a boutique hotel than a run-of-the-mill Marriott, although the prices are quite reasonable given the food quality. We'll definitely be back!

Went for my first time on Saturday. It was awessome. When my partner and I first arrived we noticed that it was pretty empty for a Saturday, and thought maybe I picked the wrong place... Until the food came. Amazing. I had the wedge salad and the bacon wrapped filet. My partner had the tortilla chicken soup and the free range chicken. Awesome. The wait staff is fast and friendly. Came by a few times to make sure everything was great and it was. I gave this place five stars here and on yelp. Don't let the slow nights fool you.

I needed a last minute reservation for Thanksgiving dinner 2012(the day before); and I tried calling for a reservation to Soleil @ k with no answer because they weren't open yet but didn't want to lose out for a Thanksgiving dinner; so I tried OpenTable. I left a reservation with them for a hail mary hoping the reservation stuck. I didn't trust it to work so I called the restaurant Thanksgiving morning to see if my reservation was held and it was! So simple! Great job OpenTable for the the convenience and simplicity! i will use you again in the future. They had the best prime rib I've ever had!

Enjoyed our visit to Soleil @k during a recent trip to San Diego. Purley by accident, it was restaurant week in the city and the restaurant had a special menu, as well as their regular choices. Everything was excellent. We sat outside as the weather was nice. I would suggest sitting inside due to the city's huge homeless population. All in all, it was an excellent dinner. Contrary to other reviews I have read, the staff was very attentative and easy going, which is nice for a fine dining restaurant. Usually the staff is stuffy, but not at Soleil @k.
