Solea offers a warm Mediterranean atmosphere with its richly colored walls, mosaics and sparkling lamps. It is the perfect destination for a quick bar snack, an after work gathering or a celebratory dinner.   • "We had a great lunch with some wonderfully creative tapas. The favorites at our table were the pato braseado, the chuletillas, and the albondigas de cordero. The sauces on each were fantastic. The paella valenciana was okay, but it seemed like it should have cooked longer, as the rice was still a bit loose and watery. Then again, I've been spoiled by having the real thing in Valencia, and nothing really compares to that, so I may be a bit too critical of a judge on that one. The atmosphere was great, as was the service, and we'll definitely be back."

We vowed to return and did so with another set of friends. Another outstanding dining experience.. got to choose lots of different dishes.   • "The three of us ordered soup for one plus seven tapas to share, which turned out to be plenty for us. Service was impeccable: prompt (without being rushed), professional, and friendly. The food was uniformly excellent: beef barley soup, goat cheese in tomato sauce, sautéed artichokes, wild mushrooms, broccoli/cauliflower combo, salmon in dijon cream sauce, special salad, potatoes with piquant sauce, and espresso (no room for churros). Among the tapas, the artichokes and mushrooms were especially outstanding. The restaurant was surprisingly uncrowded for a Friday evening, but then again we had to eat early as we were on our way to a play. We'll be back."

  • "It was family date night! My husband and I decided to take our 12 and 14 yr old for Tapas. They had never had tapas before and we love it. My children are foodies themselves! So just after we sit the waiter comes over and asks if we want drinks. My daughter who is 12 asked for a virgin margarita, my son said I'll have one too. The waiter looks at me and says I will have to charge you the same price as regular margaritas, $9.00!! I said that was fine. After the waiter left the table my husband and I looked at each other and said how and why is that possible. It was a glass of juice. It seemed really excessive. Overall the food was good. Vegetarian paella was excellent. Service was abrasive. But we wouldn't go back. "

Finally went with an old college friend who'd been before and convinced me that I wouldn't be disappointed. I can't say enough about the food --- incredibly gourmet and plentiful. I am a new fan and am dying to bring my "foodie" husband back."

  • "I had high expectations for Solea but wasn't that thrilled with my dinner. My waitress was great and I did enjoy the sangria and bread, but only liked some of the items I had from the Restaurant week menu: Sizzling Garlic Shrimp - I couldn't get past the texture or look of the baby shrimp but the garlic oil was good with the bread Fried Calamari - Very good! Salmon a la Plancha - Good but the sauce was missing something. Duck in Berry Sauce - This was good but not as good as the version at Dali. Beef Tenderloin with Spicy Herb Sauce - This was okay. Chorizo - This was bland as well. It's not the worst I've had but I'm not sure if I would go here again. "

  • "Tried out Solea during Boston restaurant week. The cocktails were great and flavorful, but the food not so much. The calamari was somewhat greasy and had no flavor. The garlic shrimp smelled great, but also lacked any flavor, and when eating the shrimp it was soaked in olive oil and just dripped grease. For entrees we ordered the lamb, the beef tenderloin, chorizo, and the lobster crab ravioli. The tenderloin was delicious. It had great flavor and was juicy. The lamb was also cooked very nicely. The chorizo was plain, and the ravioli was under cooked, but the sauce they were in was yummy. Will go back to sit at the bar, but not for an entire meal."
