  • "My husband and I thought the food and wine were outstanding. We also loved eating outside on the patio. Although, the food was perfect, the service was poor, especially for such an upscale restaurant and resort. Once we received our entree, we rarely saw our server. It took over 40 minutes to order and receive dessert and coffee. I would go back since I think the problem was specific to our server."

  • "Julian tk exclnt care of us. It was a toss-up of whether to sit in or out & I made the choice to sit out. Having been in the cool car driving from SF for 2 hours, the outside initially felt good.When we came to dessert, we asked if we could move inside and Julian was very accommodating and with pleasure. Once we sat down, we realized nobody was really hungry for dessert but we ordered a few to share about and all were happy. The concern once inside, however, were the aggressive houseflies. So, after all, having lunch outside was the right choice...just under the trees may have been better the canopy/awning. In the end, Julian was willing to work with us for whatever our needs (even if that mean pool-side guac being brought to the tbl)."

  • "It was lovely.............except.............I ordered decaf and it didn't come and I had to ask for it. Later, I realized that they gave me regular coffee and I was awake all night. Not too happy! Also, the coffee really wasn't very tasty. Given the price ($5) and rest of the food, I think they can do a LOT better in that department. Also, it had grounds in it and had to be sent back to be strained. The waiter was very knowledgeble and friendly."

  • "Food is fresh and delicious. Presented beautifully. Choices are divided between Hearty and Healthy. Starters were especially delicious, but all of the food was wonderful. They were able to accommodate gluten-free for my daughter who has celiac disease. We sat outside by the pool, but probably should have sat inside as it was a very hot day. The outside setting is very pretty."

  • "My fiancee and I recently had brunch here before heading out to do some wine tasting and I would have to say that it was such a good recommendation from a friend. The ambiance outside (close to the pool) was quite and peaceful in the morning. The food was excellent especially the crab dish that was served to me (I apologize for forgetting the name of the dish). The restaurant serves freshly squeezed orange juice, which is always a plus. Lastly, the service was outstanding making us feel welcome and the staff was very accommodating."

  • "Dinner at Solage was terrible. Service was horrible. Took 1/2 hourto get anyone to take our drink order. Then more than 15 minutes before they brought the champagne. Had to remind them we had an 8:00 reservation. And find a hostess to seat us. 2 1/2 hours for dinner--not spaced out for our enjoyment. Lots of people working there but clearly no one in charge. A host brought us the champagne and glasses. The sommelier cleared our dinner dishes-when have you ever seen that. Very disappointing choice to celebrate an anniversary. We heard anecdotally the next day from masseuse that Will Smith had got so disgusted with service he walked out. Over and over again someone would take an order or request & disappear for 15 or 20 minutes. Too strange."

  • "my girlfriend has a 6th sense for nice places. we had heard of Solage and sol bar and seen it as we drove by but we stopped for lunch and found a new favorite spot. we are surely coming back for a weekend to stay and definitely dine here again. The chilled corn soup was to die for, the lemon aoli with the seasoned fries was delish ( I asked for more!) and the tuna sandwich with kimchi was particularly taisty. and I have had quite a few seared tuna sandos. Cant wait to go back!"

  • "Apparently Solbar has difficulties with receiving Open Table reservations; they are either lost in the ether world or they come in for a different time. Even though i showed them my confirmation number and time, they had it down as a different time. At least they had it. We sat outside. Pretty but loud. Our waiter was so so, not attending to us in a timely manner. The food was extremely pricey - $40 for fried chicken! My truffle pasta was verrrrrry truffly. My quinoa starter was on a bed of avacado cream which was extremely salty. It's a pretty setting with lovely bocce courts."

  • "service was very attentive. waiter was particular helpful in recommending an appetizer and special entree for the evening. When he discovered that it was my wife's birthday a duo of waiters brought out my wife's bread pudding dessert with a lit birthday candle which was a nice touch. Given that it was a warm summer evening it was a perfect night for sitting outside in their patio with a nice breeze flowing through. all dishes were fresh and exquisitely prepared, especially appetizers. Would definitely return for special occasions."

  • "Solage is an expensive place. It's really beautiful, but there comes a point when it's egregious. I've been to the spa a handful of times, but this is the first time I went to Solbar. The food is lovely and refined. It is; however, incredibly expensive for what you get. Lunch for 2 was $80, and there was very little actual food. It was a good thing I had a massive scone on my way up there, or I would have been very hungry after lunch."

  • "The service was excellent, that is the high point. MY meal was delicious: roasted peach appy & my ribeye was Prime cut & cooked to perfection. The problem was, my husband ordered the exact same entree. His was completely different. If mine cut was prime, his was only choice cut. At best.Not only were the cuts COMPLETELy different looking (even the waiter looked a little surprised), they tasted completely different, which is unacceptable in a restaurant of this quality, especially with 2 same entrees being served at the same table. We shared mine, he left 1/2 on the plate. Also, the music choice at 8pm? Awful, felt like they were still in afternoon bar mode. Sorry guys, but consistancy is key in the restaurant biz."

  • "We ate outside on a June evening. It was quiet and beautiful if a bit chilly. The heaters helped. The service was outstanding. The chicken with chicken sausage and porcini was succulent. The sardines a treat. The lamb which included a confit piece was wonderful! The pork belly had a lot of meat making it more of a pork than a belly, but tasty. This is fast becoming a favorite go to place!"

  • "From the outset, things were off at Solbar. We arrived early by 15 minutes or so, but there were many empty tables. The hostess asked us to sit and proceeded to forget about us, so I had to go back to ask if there was a reason she wasn't seating us and she claimed she was waiting for menus to come back (with half empty tables?). Then, she wanted to put us at the very worst table, the lonely table in the corner next to the kitchen, but I requested a better table. Our food was not great. I ordered the shrimp lettuce tacos and they were too one note and acidic. My friend ordered the spinach wrap hummus but needed salt and siracha or she said it would have been boring. We split the bruschetta, which they forgot about and it was too salty."

  • "We come to Solbar twice a year, usually for brunch or lunch, and it is normally outstanding. Today it seemed that the staff was a little off, as was the food. The bartender and servers seemed very harried and kept forgetting things. Orders were mixed up due to lack of attention. Food was ok, but not as outstanding as it could be, with one exception: the bacon! The fruit was iffy. Seasoning was off. And, sadly, our favorite donut holes were raw inside. Hoping this was just an off-day, and not sign of a decline!"

  • "Exceptional service from the bar to our dining staff. Delicious bar menu with shrimp wraps to start our meal. The Halibut, Chicken, Lamb and Filet were each distinctive with bites shared around the table. The outdoor dining was magical with the lighting and the table side heaters. It was overall an exceptional dining experience."

  • "Solbar lacks in so many ways, the ambience is so off for wine country it looks pre fab.and sterile like a barn with no style. The minimalist look makes everything seem so canned. We had a reservation for 6 pm on friday evening and the restaurant was empty inside and outside. Really - Our server was very good as well as the food, but not excellent by any means. I am perplexed as to how people are fooled when it comes to the reviews. We were in and out of the restaurant in less than 1 hour how boring for us, plus it never filled. It seems to me that everyone wants to jump on the band wagon to give it kudos when it is not that type of restaurant. Do a little research and I'm sure you can figure out something better in wine country."

  • "The food was awesome; the location is divine; the setting is beautiful...my only complaint is that I plainly stated on my Open Table reservation that it was my birthday that day, and SolBar did not acknowledge that in any way. I wasn't expecting a free lunch, but it would have been nice to have SOMEONE from SolBar say something to me, like thanking us for choosing their restaurant as the place to celebrate my birthday. Oh well... Besides that, everything else was superb."

  • "I persuaded my friend to cancel reservation at Auberge du Soleil to try out Solbar which had same rating as Soleil. Solbar offers diner's food with fancy names at inflated prices. The signature dish, Lucky Pig, was a big disappointment: dry, chewy & tasteless. Service was erratic as our waiter had to run about with our table inside the dining room & tables outside in the patio. One wonders how it got its ratings & rave reviews!"

  • "We enjoyed the experience of dining at Solbar, but quite frankly I was appalled at the cost of our lunch. There were 3 of us and the lunch came to $315! I only had 2 appetizers. Pours of wine were minimal and $20 each. We will not be back. We live in Santa Rosa and come from Napa and after we left this experience reiterated why we left Napa...."
