A word from Solbar - Solage Calistoga
Solbar, our casual yet sophisticated restaurant, is part of Solage Calistoga, Napa Valley’s most innovative resort and spa. Relax in the bar with a custom cocktail and a panoramic view of the Palisades Mountains or sit on the patio to enjoy a local wine and take in the scene at our 130-foot swimming pool.

In the Solbar kitchen, we are pleased to offer you a choice of lighter dishes to enjoy guilt-free as well as more decadent ones in which you can truly indulge. We go to great lengths to involve local producers whenever possible and to let the California seasons dictate our menu.

  • "My boyfriend and I came here during our visit to Napa. The restaurant definitely lived up to our expectations. The outdoor seating was lovely, the staff were all very nice and attentive, and the food was delicious. We really liked how the menu was split into lighter and heavier dishes to help guide our ordering. A wonderful dining experience I would highly recommend."

  • "Loved the asparagus salad and the sole in a coconut milk sauce over rice. Probably the best fish dish I have ever eaten."

  • "Just a lovely dinner. From the service to the food everything was just right."

  • "Overall we liked this place very much - very tasty, but our shared green garbanzo bean salad was way too salty. Despite that it was delicious I have to say. I did mention this to the waitress and she offered to bring another one without all the salt which we didn't need - so that was a good touch. Later we opted out of a dessert but our waitress offered one free because of the over salt experience. Had the strawberries & pound cake and it was pretty super. My husband's duck was delicious and my some grain/bean loaf was very good but a little went a long way. Maybe a smaller portion if that and something else would have been the ticket. Certainly, the best place in Calistoga and we'll happily return."

  • "Our work team met at the Solbar restaurant to celebrate together towards the end of a project in the St. Helena/Calistoga area. We had an excellent time with wonderful food. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or cocktails."

  • "Very friendly knowledgable staff. Food and wine excellent. Nice setting, would be nice outside if the weather is warmer."

  • "From the first bite to the last, Solbar wowed us. The service, the food, the ambience - all was top notch. I saw groups of 10-12 and then many tables like us - just 2 of us. It was so good. I would definitely return!"

  • "On a short trip to Calistoga, we stopped by the lounge at Solbar a day ahead of our reservations to check the place out. Raining so no oppotunity to enjoy the beautiful outdoor space. the high ceilings and comfy lounge chairs were very inviting. the wine options are pricey but delicious. The food was also pricey but good. The atmosphere is very sophisticated and they clearly cater to the upscale set. For lunch the following day I had a scrumptious Niman Ranch Lamb Gyron on garlic naan with cucumber and yogurt light sauce. The meat was boldly but perfectly spiced and the spices tasted fresh. I tried their green flight- they do have some good wines on tap. The sommelier isn't there at lunch so if you have wine questions, go for dinner."

  • "Having heard often about its Michelin star, I expected higher prices and a more formal setting. We were pleasantly surprised to find lower prices and a more comfortable ambience than expected. Service was impeccable - friendly without being too familiar, and timing was excellent. Will definitely be back!"

  • "Ate breakfast twice while staying at the Solage Calistoga hotel. Did not have the opportunity to try their lunch and dinner menu. The french toast is possibly the best I've ever had, the sol-pe and the mount washington were both very flavorful and hearty. They cook your bacon based on your preference of consistency (soft versus crunchy) which was a nice touch. Cinnamon donut holes and the model bakery muffin are phenomenal. Loved my meals here."

  • "This restaurant is a must if you are in Napa! The food, service, and ambience were truly spectacular. You won't be disappointed."

  • "Solbar had decent food, good ambiance, & great service. Overall, it is a decent restaurant, but probably not one I would go back to with so many other great restaurants in the area. The seared delta asparagus salad and house made ricotta and herb agnolotti were excellent, with fresh, bright and crisp flavors. However, the stone valley farms confit lamb shoulder was a huge disappointment, especially at that price point. The exterior was overcooked and salty, the fresh cheese caper-sultana mostardo, which one would think would be salty, was very sweet and bland. My friend left most of the dish on her plate. For a restaurant of this quality to have such a poor showing on one of it's most expensive entrees is the reason for the low rating."

  • "We ate inside - seemed quieter and more romantic plus it was going into the evening and we didn't want out food to get cold. Outside was charming, and looked perfect for families or those who prefer alfresco dining. Food was very good - we tried new things and were glad we did. Portions were ideal, and flavors excellent!"

  • "My mother and I book lunch or dinner here whenever we're in the area. There's just no better option in Calistoga. The patio is lovely, as is the dining room. Service is always impeccable. The menu is next level and never disappoints. Total excellence. Wish I had a go-to just like it in the city!"

  • "Solbar is an upscale, off-the-hwy, gorgeous restaurant in the Solage Resort. The menu is half spa, half comfort food. DO NOT overlook the spa dishes, they are not your usual 'rabbit food.' A chicken noodle soup was rich with roasted bone flavor, properly clarified, with lots of diced chicken breast and mini-bowtie pasta--my carnivore spouse loved it! The salads are always brilliant and exquisitely fresh. We goofed on the Lucky Pig entree, can't recommend it as it didn't seem well-conceived to us. Tender & juicy, but it seemed awkwardly pseudo-Asian to us (JapAm and Hong Kong-born Chinese). Solbar is notable for its service: it is one of the very few Wine Country restaurants with superior quality waitstaff."

  • "Solbar is truly worthy of it's Michelin Star...the menu offers both more traditional selections along with creative dishes with a little more "spice"; all prepared with a focus on locally grown ingredients. I had the braised lamb which is finished in a stone pot and brought to the table for my approval before being served on the plate...incredibly tender and served with colorful fingerling potatoes on a bed of greens. We dined inside near the fire in the warm ambiance and enjoyed outstanding service. Extensive wine list of predominantly CA selections...and the waitstaff assiduously points out the special offerings of the evening and attends to every detail. Highly recommend."

  • "Very disappointed! Food was average - service was rude at times. Twice during dinner they tried to remove my husbands plate when he was obviously still eating. Wine sommelier tried to pair wines with my dinner and I explained I did not care for the ones he was recommending. He would not consider my request since I guess he had a better idea. I appreciated his wine expertise but I have never had anyone totally ignore me and bring just the kind of wine I had described as not being interested in. Restaurant was empty other than 3 tables and the staff just too stuffy and not having fun!!!! This created a boring atmosphere. Won't be returning !!!!"

  • "Here we are 3 months later...And I can't remember what we ate. And normally, if it had been spectacular I would have. I remember the service being a little slow / hit or miss, but he was very very nice about it. The desserts were also excellent and had nice surprising twists to them. It was a Sunday night, and bitterly cold, so the place was far from packed which was very nice."

  • "Reservation was made weeks ago. We arrived a bit early with the hope of getting something in the bar. It was crowded and took forever to get a server in the bar area and then even longer to get our drinks. No chance of ordering any food even though we were early for our reservation and waited long past the reservation time for our table. As we waited, we asked to be seated at either of the two empty tables in the restaurant good for our party, but we continued to just look longingly at empty tables that stayed open the rest of the night. Finally seated, right by the door and the draft, food was fantastic. Service was good. Hospitality staff seemed cold and disorganized. Overall great, but a bit disappointing compared to our last visits."

  • "My boyfriend took me here on Tuesday night to celebrate my birthday. Because it was midweek, the restaurant was fairly quiet and not too loud. The ambiance is modern, sexy and inviting, the food was incredible, and the service impeccable. Even the walk to the restaurant through the resort grounds was stunning. I highly recommend Solbar for special occasions, and would bet the resort is just as amazing."

  • "Tuna starter was amazing. My entree left much to be desired, however. My friend loved her lamb. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing? The service was odd; the server "borrowed" our menu in order to answer a question for another table. It was sweet and funny, but unexpected & didn't really inspire confidence when asking our own questions. However the hostess, bar staff, and other staff were fantastic. Pretty setting."

  • "We have eatin at this restaurant many times. We have never had a bad meal! Food is so delicious and menu changes often enough. I love how the menu is set out. They have a column of starters and another of main dishes. Some of the choices are light and some are more comfort. Either way, they are lovely to look at and wonderful to taste! Service is always great, whether you eat inside or out on the beautiful patio."

  • "We had a lovely lunch at SolBar. My review is very positive but you should just be prepared to spend a lot for lunch.. 4 of us paid over $240 for lunch! We had the fish tacos (amazing), the fried chicken (delicious) and the Chicken Paillard with salad. The salad would have been absolutely amazing, but it was full of cilantro which was not mentioned on the menu. I'm in the 1/2 of the population that hates cilantro & I think it's an important ingredient to list. Service wonderful, atmosphere gorgeous. It was raining that day, but sitting outside would be fantastic. So a lovely lunch & if you're prepared for an expensive meal, you'll really have a great experience there!"

  • "This is our go-to place for lunch when visiting the Napa Valley. The food quality is excellent, the service highly professional, and the prices reasonable to boot. My only criticism is that their menu doesn't change much over the years, at least for lunch. Of course, I would be sad if they dropped any of my favorites such as the tuna burger, lucky pig, or shrimp appetizer, but it would be nice to see seasonal offerings as well."

  • "We went to solbar for my 40th bday. That place is modern and beautiful. The appetizers were amazing. Dinner was quite good. Depending on what you order. The sole was delicious, lamb was very good. Chicken wasn't anything special, and rockfish a little weird. Best appetizer was seared tuna and butternut squash soup was amazing. Bacon And noochy was delicious as well. Don't expect amazing, but very good fine dinner. Especially since there isn't much else in Calistoga to compare."

  • "This was my second visit to Solbar and I enjoyed it about as much as the first time. We probably should have arrived hungrier than we were. Cocktails were very good. We shared the menu of the day, which was fried chicken and several accompaniments. The chicken was a little overbreaded but otherwise excellent, and the creamed spinach and creamy farro were fab. It came with a great salad with pomegranate seeds and something picked -- delicious and refreshing. We also split the mushroom pizza (wow! gruyere!) and a starter beet salad. The beet salad was the only thing that was disappointing: the beets were a little too firm and somewhat bland. Around here I expect that wonderful sweet taste and firm but yielding textiure. Fine meal."

  • "Meals were very nice. Couldn't help notice the layout and decor looked like an airport club except the defening noise reminded us, this was no place to chill. Recommended for a vibrant food and wine experience."

  • "We loved our dining experience here except for the latter part of our stay when a large group at the bar was very! noisy! My husband is deaf in one ear and we were accommodated by great seating, but nowhere in the restaurant would you have been able to be away from the noise in the latter part of the evening. The appetizers, soup and ahi tuna, were excellent as well as my pork dish! We would return and we would recommend to friends."

  • "Solbar is one of the best restaurants in the "wine country". The chef, Brandon Sharp, is inventive and expert. Seasonal offerings such as crab cakes on the current menu are first rate as are the "regulars" such as Petrale Sole tacos, roasted beet salad, lemon-herb chicken paillard and "sliders". Chocolate marquis with crème anglaise is over the top good. Great service, reasonable prices make Solbar a favorite."
