Diner Reviews
  • "Had a delicious gazpacho and a very good salmon. Service was extremely friendly. Seating was unusually comfortable."

  • "Solano's is my favorite restaurant in the desert for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the food is ALWAYS excellent and is made with the highest quality ingredients, so it is healthy and delicious. Secondly, the atmosphere is gorgeously unique, comfortable, and relaxing, whether you choose to eat in the dining room, the bar, or on the patio. Finally, the staff is like no other: helpful, kind, and will bend over backward to please!"

  • "Such a pretty restaurant and staff is always eager to serve. Our guest had the short ribs, gluten free, and she said they were perfect, so tender and flavorful. My spouse had the salmon, which he always prefers undercooked, and the chef obliged. He was very pleased. I had the roasted vegetable pasta, quinoa pasta. Although I do not require gluten free, I ordered since I love vegetables. I was impressed with the seasoning and that they were al dente. Solano's is a favorite of ours"

  • "Solano's continues to be one of my very favorite restaurants. The quality of their food is always outstanding. We took advantage of the special for two which included a bottle of wine. Excellent food at an excellent price. We will definitely go back!"

  • "We have enjoyed this restaurant several times and have always found the food to be superior and the personnel delightful. During the desert season the lounge is a fun place to gather with friends. The atmosphere is that of a urban bistro set in the casual resort style of Old Town La Quinta. We recommend it to all who enjoy great food at reasonable prices."

  • "Solanos was one of my favorite restaurants but lately the food and service are goi g downhill. This time we went for restaurant week. I ordered the ribeye which was about 1/4 inch thick and very fatty. I could not eat it. The waiter never ask why I didn't touch my entree just cleared my plate. Also everything on the plate was covered in olive oil. It was hard to taste the flavor of the food. My friend ordered the fish and it was greasy too. The beet salad and the dessert were good. Solanos need to get back to consistently providing good food."

  • "We have been to Solano's before and the food quality and the service were not up to par this time we dined there. We were disappointed."

  • "We went for restaurant week and really enjoyed it. Our waiter, William, was fabulous. Fun, energetic, friendly and knew the menu. The owner came over and chatted with us. The food was very good and the soups there are excellent. Between the four of us, we had soups, steaks, seafood and desserts. All of it was very good. It's a comfortable restaurant, updated, intimate feeling. Local artists paintings hang on the wall adding to the cozy feel of the restaurant. Lots of outdoor seating and a great bar menu."

  • "We have dined here many times, the food and service are always outstanding. We usually come on Fridays - because the clam chowder is the best! Also they often have Petrale Sole with a delicious sauce or salsa. They use very fresh ingredients and also do tbeir best to supply the menu with local fresh produce. "

  • "Once again, not just the food but the whole scene at Solano's was superb. I simply cannot recommend it highly enough. It has to be one of the very best restaurants in the desert and a not to be missed scene for dinner."

  • "We go to La Quinta once a year but have never really been in the village for dinner, just a quick beer and pizza. Found Solano's Bistro on Open table and I made a reservation for my wife and mom during our Mother's Day weekend. We were not disappointed. The wine list was solid and prices were over the top. The food was excellent and I suggest the pomegranate scallops as they had amazing flavor. I highly recommend Solano's Bistro and we will be back next year!"

  • "Great experience! The staff was friendly as always and the food was amazing. I had the shrimp scampi over linguini which was delicious. Will definitely be back for more than just happy hour this summer!"

  • "I had the Chilean Sea Bass special it was arguably the best Sea Bass I have ever had, cooked to perfection. The waiter was exceptional. It was a bit noisy inside the restaurant, in spite of the heat we should have sat outside I think it would have been quieter. We'll try that next time we will definitely be back."

  • "Wow, we really loved the dinner...once again, Chef Paco's special short ribs are outstanding. I took company from the San Francisco Bay area there again. They insist on going there each year when they come to visit. And the meals have never disappointed us. Thanks again, Chef Paco, for a wonderful dinner. See you soon!"

  • "Solano's is a gem in Old Town La Quinta. we have dined there many times and have never been disappointed. We usually get the Cod or Halibut - flakes off the fork and melts in your mouth! and the Blueberry Apple Crisp is the perfect finish. Highly recommended. "

  • "My family and I were visiting for a long weekend and looked this restaurant up. Good reviews inspired our booking. I wish we had sat outside. The street is charming and quiet and the evening temperatures were lovely. We ended up sitting inside where it was a bit cold from the air conditioning. We started with a cheese plate and my 14 yo grabbed the one slice of brie. The rest of the cheeses were mostly pepper jack and not so much "artisanal". My son had the beef filet which was delicious, prepared in a reduction of red wine. My husband and I had the quinoa salad which was full of fruit (strawberries and mangos). All in all it was a lovely experience. And the price was very reasonable. Definitely recommend it. "

  • "The food was excellent. Great flavour and best of all the meal was hot when it arrived at the table. I had the scallops and they were not over cooked which is something that frequently happens with seafood..the service was great..we will definitely go back again the next time we are in town..our first time staying in La Quinta and loved it."

  • "Been eating there for the last three years and normally love it, but it wasn't anything special this time!"

  • "Six of us had dinner at Solano's....four were friends on a short vacation from Florida. The food was fantastic and the service was great. Five of us had fish dishes that were delicious. The other had pork tenderloin which was also excellent. This has become our favourite restaurant in the desert!"

  • "The food was very good and abundant. My husband had at least 4 dozen mussels in his order. The noise levels in the restaurant and patio were very high. We were glad to be able to eat in the cozy bar area and have the dinner menu available to us. Our server was terrific."

  • "food was pretty good, with generous portions and nicely presented although not exceptionally flavorful, pricing for al a carte soups and salads a bit extreme."

  • "Mu husband and I went twice this week while vacationing in la Quinta. The first time we Sara at the bar and ate and there was a geat musician playing. Food was so good we went back another night. Again the food and service was great. Our only complaint was the seating. Both times we had chairs / booth that were saggy and felt like our blood flow was cut off. A real concern for our age group."

  • "Enjoyed a before dinner drink in the bar where Martin did a great job. When the rest of our group (6 total) arrived, our table was ready. Sevice was fine and friendly. Servers mixed up our appy's but no big dea -we just passed everything around to the right person. One of our group was disappointed that her main menu selection was unavailable - not told in advance so she had to make a quick second choice while the server stood waiting. Overal - food was ok but certainly nothing exceptional -in fact relative to the reviews, it was disappointing. Overall though, the staff, location and ambiance made the evening enjoyable and raised our rating from fair to good. Given the choices in the area we would try another spot next time."

  • "We can always depend on Solano's when we want something a bit upscale but not overpriced. Could use some more options - menu doesn't change much except for a couple of daily specials."

  • "We visit Solano for lunch frequently when we come to CA for tennis week. We decided to try it for dinner on St. Pat's Day. Sitting outside is always nice, but they seemed to be overwhelmed by serving a group of 28 women on the patio. Our simple meal of soups, crab cakes and sole took nearly an hour to receive. My asparagus soup had a film over it and was lukewarm, apparently from sitting for a while. The crab cakes tasted very fishy. (As an aside, I tried crab cakes at 3 different locations this week. Pacifica's was wonderful! Solano's - I wouldn't try it again.) It was a very disappointing experience, but we will try again when they are not so busy."

  • "Dinner service was very spotty. Food was good, but not special and there were five of us and the plates all came at different times....about 3-4 minutes apart. Had a better experience the previous time we dined. Much better experience at lunch"

Friendly, professional wait staff, and nice ambiance. Great waay to enjoy the charming little town of La Quinta. Pleased Grandparents"

  • "My husband and I spent my birthday dinner at Solano's the other evening and were quite pleased with the overall experience. Our food was delicious and prepared the way we like it. The wait staff and service was excellent. Our one and only previous experience there was with friends for Happy Hour which we all raved about, thus our decision to select Solano's for my birthday dinner. We highly recommend Solano's for a great dining experience. and ambiance."
